“Sketch vs reality II” .
#quicksketch made in situ (because an architect always has a piece of paper and a pen). Winternitzova Vila/Winternitz Villa @winternitzova_vila (Adolf Loos and Karel Lhota, 1931-1932)
Joseph Winternitz chose Adolf Loos, one of the founders of modern architecture, to build a house for weekends. Loos demanded the assistance of Karel Lhota because he has worked with him building the Müller house in Prague where he started his functionality ideas and his spatial design known as Raumplan.
This house embodies this ideas too and it is evident with the multi-level parts of rooms, indicating their function and symbolic importance.
The exterior displayed Loos’theory (essay “Ormament and Crime, 1908) with a white cubic facade.
This is the last building by Loos that he saw built in his lifetime.
