Hello Beautiful Souls ✨ Paleo Whole Bowl w/ Pasture Raised Duck Egg, Roasted Orange Cauliflower, Parsnips, Green Beans Sautéed Beet Spirals, Rainbow Chard, Purple Daikon Radish, @go_raw Sprouted Pumpkin Seeds, & @brightfreshmicrogreens Micro Chef’s Blend. 🌈 I seasoned my egg with @oaktownspice Applewood Salt & Aleppo Chile. I also added Golden Sauerkraut #guthealth & my homemade Beet Tahini Dressing (not pictured). I roasted the veggies at 400°F with @primalkitchenfoods Avocado Oil. I didn’t eat as well as I could have yesterday, so I’m making up for it today with this nutrient packed Whole Bowl. It has healthy fat, lean protein, leafy greens, & root veggies for healthy starch. Include the Sauerkraut for some probiotics & you’ve got all your bases covered. I took this opportunity to get some Meal Prep done & roasted extra veggies. I think it’s a good idea to make extra portions if you have the chance. You will be so glad you did. Sending you all lots of love. .

I love eating pancakes on Sunday ✨ 2 Ingredient Paleo Plantain Pancakes, Caramelized Pear, @applegate Organic Chicken Apple Sausage, Cinnamon Roasted Butternut Squash, @co_yo_usa Coconut Yogurt, @eatnuttzo Paleo Power Fuel, & Frozen Blueberries. I made my Paleo Plantain Pancakes again today & they are seriously the easiest pancakes I have EVER made in my entire life! They also happen to be delicious ☺️ I added a little vanilla extract & pumpkin pie spice to the batter, so technically there were 4 Ingredients in today’s batch. Here are the details:

One of my favorite traditions is getting in our jammies, packing up some healthy cookies, turning up some tunes, and driving around looking at Christmas lights as a family.  It's an easy, festive way to entertain the littles.  We often do this several times a season.  Its especially perfect when my babies are needing a change of scenery 😉. Anyone else do this?? 🎄❤️

I've been really into no bake chocolate treats lately that are loaded with healthy fats. They satisfy my hunger and nourish my body and soul (mucho important) 🙏

To make these I made a crust out of almond flour, coconut oil, Cacao powder and mixed in some monkfruit sweetener. Then used my fingers to mold them in silicone cup holders.

The peppermint fudge inside is made of melted 100% chocolate mixed with heavy cream (can also sub full fat coconut milk), monkfruit sweetener, and 4 drops of peppermint essential oil. •

Fill the crust with peppermint fudge mixture and put in the fridge or freezer for an hour. •

These were the best snack during the week and kept us fueled and satisfied. ✅

Today I met with a couple of awesome ladies also practicing functional health here in Boise.  We spent a couple of hours chit-chatting like we had known each other for years, but in actuality we just met today.  The time flew by and we realized half the day was almost gone, that’s when you know you have found something you love.  You can be so present in the moment that time almost stands still.

We all agreed that practicing function health is challenging and we want to be part of a tribe that helps and supports each other.  We found each other just by reaching out, being a little vulnerable, and agreeing to sit down over coffee.  For me, it was a random email that I sent to someone that didn’t know me, that I debated for hours on sending out of fear of rejection.  At the core, none of us wants to be an island, we all want community and to be part of something bigger than ourselves. 💙
Today, I am grateful to be part of a school of thought that will change the way we look at disease and healthcare.  A place where prevention and support wins out over suppression.

Ingredients
1 cup blueberries
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 banana
1 cup of your favorite dairy free milk

This photo popped up in my memories on Facebook this morning. I remember this night out very well as it was the turning point of when I said enough was enough. It was 7am Sunday morning and I had been drinking and taking drugs from 2pm on the Saturday!! It was the year, that my old man past away, was on the verge of getting kicked out of NZ, involved in a messy break up, struggling financially, I was pretending to be fine but in reality I was at my lowest. My face says it all really, I look like I'm about to have a heart attack and just in a world of pain. 
I look at the person I have become today and so glad I experienced this low as it is a reminder to never slip into that dark hole ever again. I think it took me a week to get over this night out!

A great tip I've learned from my practitioner friend Kathleen at @rhodetohealth is that it's always a good idea to asks clients to indicate whether their current supplements are actually EFFECTIVE or not! SO MANY people are on many of the same supplements for YEARS without any clue as to if they are actually helping. That's expensive, unnecessary, and can stall progress with healing.

find things that bring you joy. that's the fuckin secret to life. yes, the amount of time it took me to make this vs. eat it is like 6:1, but i don't care, because it makes me happy. i know it's not realistic for everyone to spend tons of time creating something that will be gone moments later, but it doesn't have to take a long time to get into a state of joy. joy is the highest point on the emotional guidance scale. it's the universal emotional north star, if you will. take at least a few minutes today to do something that makes you feel great. meditate; journal; run; dance; sing; bake yourself a goddamn cake. whatever it is. just do it. •

1️⃣ Organic ground turkey to add to spaghetti squash pasta (and to make sloppy joe's for my kids).
2️⃣ Chopped veggies for salads and hummus dippers. I also like to use cucumber rounds as a sub for crackers. 
3️⃣ Hard boiled eggs for a quick breakfast, snack or to make egg salad for lunch.

I find this an interesting fact as a lot of people assume anything gluten free is good for you. Corn is gf but because of the majority of it being GMO, it can cause inflammation & therefore it’s recommended to avoid it if you’re trying to be on an anti-inflammatory diet. This also goes for anything that’s eaten corn...so corn-fed chicken isn’t a healthier option, as I once thought & that’s why grass-fed beef can be anti-inflammatory but corn-fed is not. • I'm actively trying to put on muscle mass, so the number one priority at the moment is making sure I hit my protein goal. When it comes to building lean muscle tissue, you need to make sure your body is in a state of "positive nitrogen balance" - which basically means your body has to build protein (muscle) more than it breaks it down (protein intake should be 2.2-3.3g of protein/ kg body weight)
. • a REALLY easy way of doing this is using protein supplements. I use collagen peptides (@vitalproteins) because it gives me more bang for my buck. 1) I get 20g of protein/ serving (the equivalent of 100g of meat), and 2) studies have shown that collagen decreases wrinkles, improve joints, ligaments, and tendons, and skin, hair and nails. It's also completely tasteless so you can add it to anything (even ☕️)!

I’ve been feeling a little stiff and swollen this week for no apparent reason other than I’ve been hyper-focused on studying and work (read: seated computer time, lack of outdoors, lack of movement). For years people have said 'you have to eat breakfast, it's the most important meal of the day'. However, my body just doesn't respond well to eating breakfast every day, especially early mornings. I'm a natural intermittent faster which regulates my blood glucose and makes me function so much better. Others have to eat as soon as they wake up. 
This is why nutrition is so personal and not everyone falls under the nutritional guidelines we are given. 
Once you cut out the crap from your diet, your natural instinct sets in and your body will tell you what you need. Nature is magic 😍
I've used my fresh ghee I made yesterday, coconut oil, great lakes gelatin and turmeric powder in this coffee. If you'd shown me this last year I would have turned my nose up at it, but give it a go. You'll be surprised at how good it tastes. 
Aaaaaaand, look at the bubbles on the top. I got lost just staring at them for a couple of minutes ha ha

We made this gluten-free, grain-free bread this evening because we all had a hankering for fresh, warm bread as well as it was a part of our Advent celebration this week.  I have been making gluten-free and grain-free bread for years as a part of our wellness lifestyle and to meet my family’s health needs.  Tonight we opted for an easy version using @simplemills grain-free artisan bread mix.  I really love this company because they make grain-free baking so simple and easy!

You may wonder why gluten-free or grain-free?  There is a lot of discussion about gluten sensitivity right now.  Sadly, some even argue whether or not it is even a real thing.  However research strongly supports that gluten sensitivity is not only real, but linked with many chronic diseases such as IBS, type 1 diabetes, depression, MS, autism spectrum disorders, fibromyalgia, insulin resistance, skin disorders, leaky gut, and inflammation.  That list is just scratching the surface.  There are 3 categories in the bodies response to gluten
*tolerance
*non-celiac gluten sensitivity
*celiac disease.
If you or a loved one are struggling with any chronic health problems, I would urge you to consider looking into testing for what category of gluten response the body has.  From there, obvious diet and lifestyle changes must be made in order to heal and/or protect the body from chronic illness.  It is worth mentioning that not all food sensitivity testing is created equally.  In fact, there are many highly inaccurate food sensitivity testing methods that are frequently utilized by practitioners and are very expensive.  Find a practitioner that you can trust to help you navigate what your body’s response to gluten is and be confident in the testing methods that they are using..Just because a test is expensive does not mean that it is good.
