Sorry for the last post/rant. Back to a happier place aka books. Happy to finally start this book which I’ve only heard great things about!
📖: The Hating Game
Release date: Aug 8, 2016
Description: Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome. 2) A person’s undoing 3) Joshua Templeman
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game. #enemiestoloversromance#amreading#funnyreads
I have no idea why it took me so long to read this book. I had seen it make the bookstagram tours but for some reason thought I wouldn't be interested in it. Boy was I wrong, this book is HILARIOUS! I can't count how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book. It was written by three authors and I am sure they must have had a blast while writing it. I can only imagine the phone calls and text messages between them. 😅
I give the book 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and highly encourage anyone who has it in their tbr pile to start it next. Happy Monday Everyone 😊
Synopsis from Amazon:
EDWARD is the King of England. He’s also dying, which is inconvenient, as he’s only sixteen and he’d much rather be planning for his first kiss than considering who will inherit his crown. . . .
JANE is Edward’s cousin, and far more interested in books than in romance. Unfortunately for Jane, Edward has arranged to marry her off to secure the line of succession. And there’s something a little odd about her intended . . .
GIFFORD is a horse. That is, he’s an Eðian (eth-y-un, for the uninitiated). Every day at dawn he becomes a noble chestnut steed—but then he wakes at dusk with a mouthful of hay. It’s all very undignified.
THE PLOT THICKENS as Edward, Jane, and G are drawn into a dangerous conspiracy. With the fate of the kingdom at stake, our heroes will have to engage in some conspiring of their own. But can they pull off their plan before it’s off with their heads?
Have you read The Popcorn book? Omg was cute and the ending is funny ☺️ boys had gotten it last yr from their babysitter and we just pulled it off of their bookshelf this morning... great read on a cold day with some organic hot chocolate yum! ☺️❤️
Just read this in between Christmas and NY and laughed out loud so much ( especially the last chapter) I thought I’d share. I’ve read and enjoyed all her books which led me to order this from the library, if you’ve never ordered from Norfolk library services it’s so easy and such a great service, I’ve even requested a book to be bought and it’s happened and ended up in my hands - brilliant public service. #lovemylibrary#lovereading#editedrecommends#norfolklibraries#funnyreads#whatiread
The last day of 2017! We did some good reading in our house this year. I’m excited to share my 10 favorite books that we read in 2017, and here is one of them! Usborne’s Muddle & Match series is so fun - kids love to be silly and make up goofy characters. The “Fairy Tales” book is my favorite.

Thanks to everyone commenting about how much they’ve giggled reading my book. Its a good cure for the Christmas blues (link to Amazon is in @scarlett_moffatt ‘s bio)
Wrapping Christmas pressies in the afternoon summer sun...getting distracted (too easily!) by books. I recommend ‘The Rosie Project’ by Graeme Simsion as a modern day classic. This book follows Don’s very scientific search for a wife. Laugh out loud funny and heartwarming! Reminded me of a few quirky characters I know in real life! This will make you smile, laugh and build your empathy and love for unusual characters both in real life and fiction worlds! If you liked ‘The curious incident of a dog in the night’ I recommend this to you! Would make a great gift for anyone who works in a University/academic environment or looking for a funny, heartwarming read! #bookish#bookstagrammer#bookstagram#funnyreads#thebookishguide#summerchristmas#christmaswrapping
Although a bit outdated, this random library find has been quite amusing in presenting raw facts. The title is what drew me in to picking this one off the shelf. I didn't know much about Glenn Beck before because I basically try to avoid all mainstream entertainment news, but he seems like a pretty cool guy. #libraryfinds#arguingwithidiots#funnyreads#bookstagram
Christmas pudding takes place over a month in the seasonal time of #Yuletide , with lady Bobbins, planning the most tremendous Christmas for all her loved ones. It looks into the social factors of the middle classes, with some incredibly witty characters. I'll say this is a winner for anyone in need of a wintery cheer. #nancymitford is a marvel at writing satirical characters and the follies of classes. Any fans of #pgwodehouse can appreciate this entraining book that promises to melt your heart as well as make you laugh. There's love and money from #brightyoungthings that will make you tangled up in their pursuits of their happiness.
I think it's traditional and rather quintessential to include some Mitford writing at this time of year.
I brought this edition years ago in a charity shop, however, I long so much for the beautiful hardback edition issued by @penguinrandomhouse it's just such a lovely cover and I adore so much #hardback copies of my favourite writers.
These little Christmas coconut #teacakes are a perfect companion while I sit and read. Snow outside, good books and yummy treats are all great settings for any pre Christmas time relaxation.
Comedian Jessi Klein shares a collection of very funny, relatable real-life stories in ‘You’ll grow out of it’. Jessi looks at growing up as a tom boy, dating, relationships, weddings and infertility. If you liked Mindy Kaling’s ‘Why not me?’ then I recommend this entertaining read! Very honest, very funny!!
'Notes from a Big Country' is a collection of columns by Bill Bryson, describing life in the USA. Along with 'A Walk in the Woods', this is hands down my favourite book by Bill Bryson. Laugh-out-loud funny! #billbryson#notesfromabigcountry#columns
Adulting by Kelly Williams Brown, is a great combination of funny, witty and wise! Kelly gives lots of advice and tips on how to make it in the adult world, very funny and yet practical. I recommend this to everyone who sometimes finds adulting hard but wants lots of humor mixed in with some sound advice. It would make a great gift for anyone moving out for the first time, going off to Uni/college or getting their first job! #bookstagram#adultingishard#booknerd#bookrecommendations#readmore#funnyreads#thebookishguide
Day 15- I Love Lucy!- Funniest Read #inkytravel
“ I smack into him as if shoved from behind. He doesn't budge, not an inch. Just holds my shoulders and waits. Maybe he's waiting for me to find my balance. Maybe he's waiting for me to gather my pride. I hope he's got all day.
I hear people passing on the boardwalk and imagine them staring. Best-case scenario, they think I know this guy, that we're hugging. Worst-case scenario, they saw me totter like an intoxicated walrus into this complete stranger because I was looking down for a place to park our beach stuff.”-Of Poseidon
Today is National I Love Lucy Day! So I don’t know if I have just one funny read but I do love the start of Of Poseidon! As soon as I read it in the bookstore I knew I had to buy it. I also do really love when a character is super sarcastic ❤️The following books are some of my favorite places to find such characters 📚 we have Jace from Mortal Instruments, Aelin from Throne of Glass and Rhysand from ACOTAR😍😍
Big Girl Panties was another book where the main character is just hilarious and very down to earth!#boooksandbroomsticks#bookstagram#booklove#funnyreads#sarcasm#acotar#tmi#aelingalathyniusashryver#ofposeidon#intoxicatedwalrus
