People often ask what makes you fat. Some people may answer with "carbs make you fat, carbs are the enemy." Others may say consuming fat makes you put on body fat. Or maybe it's eating after 6pm.
I'm not gonna get too "sciency" on this post so Let me keep this simple. Carbs will not make you fat if daily calories are in check. And neither will Fat.
Carbs actually positively impact your leptin hormone
Fat also gets a bad rap when it comes to overweight people. Some tend to think eating fat is what makes you fat. Nope. Wrong again. You need fat in your diet as it helps keep hormones in check.
So eating late has to be the reason why people accumulate body fat. I'm gonna share something with you. Your body does not know it's 6pm lol.
The actual culprit to people putting on body fat is simply eating too many calories. It doesn't matter if you are eating a bunch of "clean foods" or junk food. Although it may be easier to over eat on stuff like chocolate, pizza, etc. the food isn't what's making you fat. The fact that you have ate too many calories is. Yes it is harder to over eat on stuff like lean proteins, fruits and vegetables it still can, and does happen. So eat your "clean foods", for those nutrients and such, enjoy a piece of cake, eat before bed but make sure you aren't eating too many calories!!!
Squid rings with lime
I love calamari, but because it is with flour, it doesn’t love me so I made my own squid rings the other night which ended up being delicious.
128g squid rings (Sainsbury’s taste the difference ones were good)
10g almond flour
5g olive oil
tamari (a shake to taste)
1/2 fresh lime juice
If you want some carbs baby new potatoes would go very well!
Mix the almond flour, herbs and chilli flakes in a bowl. Dry the squid rings with some kitchen roll. Put them in the dry mix and stir so all are covered. Heat the oil in a frying pan, throw the squid ring mix in. Cook until they curl up and inside out (pretty cool to watch), add the broccoli, lime juice and tamari. FIX YOUR DEADLIFT ‼️👀 Tag a friend to fix their form!
The hip hinge (aka that bending at the hips part of the deadlift) is a SUPER IMPORTANT skill to learn if you want to build your booty. That said, I see so many people losing balance on this basic movement.
Here’s my advice:
1️⃣ Position yourself 1-2 step away from a wall / chair / or other firm support.
2️⃣ Initiate the movement by sitting your hips back (NOT arching your back or hunching your body forward).
3️⃣ Sit back until you feel your butt tap the support.
4️⃣ Keeping pressure in your heels, squeeze back up to your starting position.
If you struggle with balance, try this trick until you feel confident enough to add weight!
