I had to get creative with this one. Workout called for leg extensions and I don’t have that machine or anything like that at my house. So I stacked some bumper plates, grabbed a sand bell and got to work. I could only do one leg at a time but it was still very effective. 3 sets of 20 reps. Plus some poop talk from Layla! 😂😂
The problem I found with running my own show in the home gym was that I would avoid most leg workouts and I can’t remember the last time I focused on my core. Although I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing what you enjoy and skipping what you don’t enjoy, I have noticed a lack of strength in these areas as a result. What I’m loving about getting into PWR, is gaining some structure back and having no choice but to work each body part every week (although easy to say 1 week in 😅). Once upon a time my only goal was to have abs, and now that I somewhat have them, I know for sure they don’t necessarily equal strength... I used to be able to hold a plank for 4+ mins, now I’m lucky to reach 45 secs 😝 but I’m excited to work on both areas again, not so much for aesthetic results, but for performance and strength instead.

Didn’t plan on training today but after watching all the competitors kick ass yesterday at our 3rd Annual South Dakota’s Strongest Man/Woman I decided to do some yoke presses and sandbag loads. Worked up to 205 for a double on press and 200 lb sandbag over 66” for 5. Had fun with some light snatch work at Snap this morning. My shoulders struggle, not with the overhead position, but the transition during the actual snatch. So next round I really focused on dropped down below the bar. Felt much better by the 4th round!!

Max load I have at home is 240, so what to do when my work set weight is 280??? Well make die with what I have and focus on maintaining form through more reps. In the year and a half I've been seriously weight training I've never had this consistency with PR's. Less than two months ago I pulled 335 once for a PR of 20lbs; today I ripped it off the ground three times. That's also following a bench max PR two weeks ago, and a 5 rep squat PR last week.✨
