January is one of my favorite times of the year in nature, and I realize I am likely saying that because I live in a part of California, where winter is relative and we don’t even see snow. This is the time when nature is poised just before spring, we get more rain and colors begin to shift. All that potential!

The dance of the flowers...
Gaura continues to bloom in the garden. Mine is a noID pink variety with lovely red stems. It grows enormous and is normally cut back twice a year to neaten it and to encourage fresh flowers. It is ready for a trimming now, but with temperatures set to dip to around 36 F/2 C tonight, I will wait.
I had just begun tidyng up after itching to do it all though December. Now we're having an unexpected relapse into cold weather, I must put away the clippers and sit on my hands a little longer!
Meantime, I'll enjoy the Gaura flowering...
Hope all of you in colder climes are staying warm and my friends in the far south are finding ways to get cool! 🌥
