SWEET :: The sky is on fire. The first true Summer Sunset of the year and it is infusing me with strength, hope and endurance to continue healing. I had a bag of farmers market cherries and a couple of tart plums so my hands felt called to make a seasonal treat. I also had some gorgeous organic frozen cranberries so I let them join the party as well. This crumble will entice all of the senses and bring Summer to life. Accompanied by a decadent vanilla bean mousse. Simple pleasures. Now to go capture this magnificent sunset 🌅
Today's @the_moondeck card pull... a frequent one for me. #Trust 🌝🌚 "... Trust the change unfolding in your life. Although the outcome may be unpredictable right now, when you settle in and open up to new possibilities a wondrous world can emerge. There's no need to rush this process. You will grow wiser as you learn to surf the waves of change with more grace and ease..."
On the day of Eid, we gather up at mosques in the morning to perform the Eid prayer before heading to family gatherings and friends. But there is more to Eid than the smell of oud, ladies getting all glam up and pretty, men cashing out bundles of new notes to distribute as Eidiyah money for children, decorating our hands with henna or sending chocolate trays with "Eid Mubarak" cards to our friends and families. These three days of Eid is the time of greeting and reconnection with family and friends to enjoy the happy vibes, with children running around, babies and elders all dressed up, talking, laughing, feasting and eating sweets; everything that represents "joy" in all senses. And the best true joy is, that families also display this thanksgiving by giving donations and food to those less fortunate than themselves.
SUMMER LOVIN :: A celebration of this magnificent season. I gave myself a challenge today to make two different pasta dishes with the same ingredients. Cannelini beans, cashews, wild arugula, tomatoes, yellow and green bell peppers, lemons and a gorgeous vegetable dyed gluten free pasta. I split the pasta into two. First I made a cream sauce with beans, cashews, lemon zest and juice, a handful of arugula to add bite, salt, pepper, olive oil. For the other side I sautéed some of the arugula and roasted garlic and bell peppers until fragrant and simply tossed with pasta and fresh squeezed lemon and juice. The bell peppers were slow roasted before being added to both sides of pasta. The cream sauce offers protein, dense nutrients from the arugula and cashews. The simple tossed summer pasta showcases the seasons bounty. Something for everyone in this dish. Up next is a luscious cherry and plum tart or crumble. Not sure yet which I am going to do with. Let the fruit speak to me! Hope you are all enjoying the first weekend of summer! 🌻

As an extension of 'treat, my annual 3-day women's wellness immersion, we have The Well. Anyone who has ever attend 'treat is welcome. We gather in-person every other month for rich discussion, love, support, ritual, healthy food and sisterhood. The group ranges in size depending on the time. We also have a private Facebook group. We usually meet at my studio but today we went to Rockaway Beach. One of the women lives there and welcomed us into our home. Our topic today was Transitions. Shoring up support, asking what's needed, plugging into the cycles of the sun and moon. We all shared stories and after almost every bit of food and dark chocolate was gone, we walked into the beach and right into the ocean. These women are utterly spectacular and I get so much from these gatherings. Our differences shine, which I love because we each embrace them in each other. I am always grateful for their trust in me in leading them but equally so that I am part of the circle. #sisterhood#gather#fillyourwell#community#selfcare#sacred
