Otto #Müller was born in 1874, which made him one of the oldest members of the German #Expressionist circles. After becoming acquainted with Erich #Heckel in Berlin in 1908, he was encouraged to join ‘DieBrücke’ in 1910, three years before it disbanded. He also exhibited with ‘DerBlaueReiter’. Between 1924 and 1927, Müller spent consecutive summers travelling in Eastern Europe, through the #Balkans , #Romania and #Hungary , and spent a prolonged period of time in Szolnok, near #Budapest . There, he got to know the local Roma and Sinti communities, and these friendships influenced the Romantic, bucolic elements in his work from around this time. As the artist explained, ‘the chief goal of my endeavour is to express my feeling for the #landscape and for people with the greatest possible simplicity.’ Although Müller’s #landscapes often include female #nudes , which share stylistic affinities with the angular sculptures of his friend Wilhelm #Lehmbruck , ‘Waldstück mit Blumen und Teich’ presents a landscape empty of all signs of human interference. Stylistically, it suggests the influence of both Ernst Ludwig #Kirchner and of Paul #Gauguin , in its palette and in the boldly outlined forms. Müller also admired the flat forms and chalky surfaces of Egyptian wall paintings, and achieved similar fresco-like effects in his paintings using distemper. After World War I, Müller was made a professor at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, Breslau, where he remained until his death in 1930.

1990 yapım Vincent &Theo filminden. Ayçiçeklerine, rüzgara falan atarlanan Vincent. Nasıl da güzel, ufak ufak deliriyor. Hikayesi: Çok sevdiği, sanatından etkilendiği ressam Paul Gauguin’in, Arles'a ziyaretine geleceğini öğrenen Vincent Van Gogh, onu etkilemek ve kalacağı odayı dekore etmek amacıyla ayçiçeği resimleri yapmaya karar verir. #sanat#vincentvangogh#arles#resim#sunflowers#gauguin
« Quelle horreur !
