Haha. Coming out to have this vivid memory was almost (...almost) worth all the σκατά my brain put me through this morning.
I've been sick since I was born (weeks late, then out days after mom's water broke, eek). No one knew why I was always sick, and getting worse over time, exactly but everyone had there theories. One odd thing was my weird fainting spells that weren't quite fainting but somehow were and some of my doctors/specialists agreed on certain things but not others and blah blah blah. This probably sounds familiar to many of you with Epilepsy or other chronic diseases/issues/etc. Plus we all tend to have multiple chronic problems that just make matters worse.
Anyway, so I'm coming out of a bad spell only to shoot back in memory to the bottom floor of Sears in Bridgeport, CT right around my birthday if I recall correctly... 1988. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was out and my mom brought a super excited but also kind of under the weather little Alaina to pick it up as a present. I remember walking in, talking to the sales lady in front with my mom, and then seeing everything go dark. Things felt weird and closing in on me. Thinking back, I went from a dark parking garage to store lights so it makes sense as that happens to me now. But I was so excited on top of that plus on top of just feeling blah. I went down. I remember vomitting a lot of mucus, too. Then and for the rest of the day. The world seemed super dark to me no matter what all day. No matter where I was. My vision clouded. I noticed patterns. I puked up more stuff. Yuck. (Mom did go back and get me the game later when I felt better. They thought I had a bad sinus or allergy problem and gave me Triaminic probably way too much from then on. 😅) But that experience is what I still go through and we know now to be seizures. Only one doctor, when I was 20 or so, figured it out but she was in Maine and my docs back home didn't follow up. Before that, the cardiologist at I think it was Bridgeport Hospital when I was in high school was pretty close with his treatment suggestions, too.
I went to Dutch Comic Con this weekend! And it was fun 😊 I only went on Saturday tho because I felt sick on Sunday. But I managed to buy some cool things like A DALEK STRESS TOY 😃, also a Link t-shirt and a tote bag with a cute unicorn. On to the next con! (Probably Tomofair because I received free tickets somehow)🦄 #dutchcomiccon#dutchcomicconwinteredition#dcc2017#geekery#comicconhaul
