We probably all agree that smoking is bad for us right? What we might not agree on is that French Fries deep fried in vegetable oil is actually worse!! There are studies that show that the damaged fats of fried potatoes actually has a longing lasting ill effect on the body than smoking one cigarette does. Let’s be clear here, I’m not saying it’s the potato that’s the issue. It’s the fat when they are cooked in really high heats. How we cook and what type of fat is seriously important. Not all fats are equal. Some fats are more heat stable than others. Typically fats high in saturated fat can handle higher heats. Fats like coconut oil, butter etc
Here’s a few best practices to help you minimise damaging fats when cooking .
1. Never deep fry foods or use the microwave
2. When shallow frying never have a smoking pan. Turn the heat down lower
3. Use coconut oil, butter, ghee when pan frying
4. Use a steamer, oven or slow cooker rather than frying
5. Low and slow. Turn the temperature down and cook for longer

Last tip, when frying, use a ceramic or iron pan. Avoid Teflon coated pans as that shit is not good for us!
Dinner tonight 😛 I wish you guys could smell this! I was stumped on breakfast this morning. My darling @shanepyoung made me breakfast pancakes yesterday morning - he went onto Happy Hungry Journey to use my own recipe 😂 so I wasn't making pancakes again today. Then I thought of green smoothie, and as mich as I love green drinks, the thought of another one made me gag since I had about 6 of those already throughout the week 🤣 Then I reached for some dry oats to make oatmeal, but that felt super boring. Then I saw millet and quinoa chilling next to each other on the shelf - breakfast KITCHARI - I took 3/4 cup each of both grain and cooked on stovetop. Took less than 10 mins. I have enough to take to work a couple times this week. I topped with almond butter, maple syrup, 2 chopped dates, and a generous glob of butter. Yes butter. Don't be afraid of fats people- fats are not the enemy!. If you're following a stricter ayurvedic diet, use ghee if you have it instead of typical butter. Spice up your breakfast with these two grains- oatmeal will be jealous😎 The om mug is a gift from my god mother in law Karen 🙋
Oh. Em. Ghee?
I finally bit the bullet and decided to make some homemade ghee. I love ghee, it's rich and delicious and a little goes a long way, but buying it retail hurts my heart and my wallet. First attempt seems like a success. Although, I'm not sure if my second bubble was long enough. There's a chance I just made clarified butter and if that's the worst case scenario, I'm ok with that.

The face of your "bacon" jokes: An innocent baby pig, literally being squished to death by fellow brothers, sisters and friends just moments from the slaughterhouse where they will be submerged in a CO2 gas chamber to then have their tiny 4-6 month old bodies cut up and put into plastic packaging to disconnect the public from WHO they are eating. You don't want to hurt animals, so why pay for someone to do it for you? If your response is "because THEY (not it) taste good." I urge you to look within your heart and proceed to ask, are my tastebuds really more important then a sentient life that wants to be free to make their own choices?...like we all do. O ouro líquido - A manteiga Ghee.
A manteiga Ghee é feita a partir da manteiga natural, que nada mais é do que a gordura do leite de vacas ou de búfala.
A manteiga Ghee é popular na culinária Indiana e do sudeste asiático e, segundo alguns estudiosos da ayurveda, ela é utilizada a milhares de anos.
Uma das vantagens de se usar a Ghee ao invés da manteiga normal, está relacionado a quantidade baixa de lactose (açúcar do leite), caseína (proteína de difícil assimilação por algumas pessoas), aumento do ponto de fumaça ( 176 C contra 250 C da Ghee), sabor amendoado da Ghee.

Como escolher a manteiga:
- Dê preferência para as que são de vacas criadas soltas e que comem capim. Isto não tem a ver só com o respeito ao animal, mas também com a qualidade e quantidade dos nutrientes, como Vit D, E, K, butirato (anti-inflamatório natural), etc.
- Procure marcas com alto teor de gordura saturada. Basta ver o rótulo e comparar. Vai perceber que as mais caras possuem menos água e mais gordura.
- Não se preocupe se marcar a existência de gordura trans. A manteiga naturalmente possui gordura trans, chamada de CLA (diferente da insdustrializada), um tipo raro e benéfico ao nosso organismo. O CLA é vendido como suplemento alimentar para estimular o consumo de gordura do próprio corpo.
- Manteiga sem sal. Muitas vezes o sal adicionado na manteiga é refinado e contém produtos químicos danosos ao nosso organismo, como anti-umectantes. Além disso, após fazer a Ghee, ela ficará mais salgada ainda. Coloque sal a gosto, de preferência, não refinado.
