"To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold" -Aristotle
Wise words from a wise man. I spent the past 4 days skiing and snowshoeing in the backcountry of Mammoth, escaping the crowds on the slopes and embracing the cold. We camped in freezing temperatures, chased sunrises over Mono Lake, explored local breweries, gazed at the most stunning views, ate burritos (my favorite), and soaked up every drop of beauty that Mammoth has to offer. Until next time as these gorgeous mountains are ALWAYS calling my name... ❄️⛷⛰

this morning i found an old file in my computer marked “journal”. it was overflowing with the prose and poetry of 2009-2011, the words written were beautiful but veiled by suffocation. as I read, i felt the subtle pings of emotions through memories of my once pointed finger, fueled by past depression. yet, with each page(file) turn, the deeper i found myself holding space for holding self. it was a reminder of immense growth and of a love filled with i, not a bandaid of another or materialism, but a true healing. love i created for me because everything up to that point acted as an addicting arsenic to my soul.
my phoenix bloomed because of the awareness that my sculpture of self no longer resembled me, but a distorted vision chiseled away by insecurities of self-doubt and a drowning of self love. because of this reminder, today, at this very moment, i hold even more space for the understanding that we have a choice to turn towards light along our paths at any moment.
i’m filled with gratitude for the depression i felt years ago, the darkness i once felt awakened a sensitivity, an empathy and a heightened awareness for those around me today. a reminder to trust that every dark hour is there to guide us closer to light. thank you🙏🏼🌲
Hello from #Valladolid , Mexico! I’ve been in the Yucatan Peninsula for a week with @racheldmark and our adventures have been too numerous to count, both large and small. I’m saving up some of the best photos on my DSLR to share on my blog & Instagram later, but have posted a few highlights for you to see in my story now ☺️👆🏽 I’m so excited to edit these and share some experiences and recommendations when I return to LA. This trip has been totally rejuvenating beyond words. 2018 is going to be my Year of Travels! ✨
This was the exact moment that @misssnicolemarie and I realized we just drove almost 80 miles to hike Franklin falls.... and she left her hiking boots back home. 😐 (and she was only wearing her sandals with socks) we laughed mostly, and just tried to find other things to do in the area. But since it was a holiday and 9am... there were not many things to choose from. Anyway, we made the best if it, as always. Got some espresso, went to Snoqualmie falls, a couple gift shops, went to our state capital, and called it a day. At least we still got to smell and feel that crisp mountain air for just a little while. ❄😍
Sitting at the edge of my comfort zone. ☡
I have a fear of heights, or more like a fear of falling. I know, I know I've been in multiple pictures standing, sitting, and even jumping over the edge. This is a NEW fear. In the past I didn't hesitate to Cliff jump, hang upside down on zip lines, or repell down waterfalls & I did it all without fear (lol I just realize how much I trusted my life to a cable or a rope 🤔) Point is Fear will either PUNK you or PUSH YOU, and I've never been a punk!! I refuse to surrender & let this NEW fear of mine trick me into living a boring life. I will continue to challenge myself, climb mountains, stand close to the edge & feel those butterflies in my gut because It makes me feel alive. And because .. I LOVE it more than I fear it!

It’s so easy to become the critic, the cynic, the doubting Thomas. It’s like we turn on the news these days and just want to pretend we didn’t! It has never been more important to live out our core beliefs! For me- I am choosing to LOVE; myself & others- because LOVE is my core value.
I know everyone set some goals you want to accomplish this year. One goal I set for myself is to always carry a trash bag & gloves with me when out on the trail so I can pickup any trash that was left behind and to volunteer for any clean ups that may occur. This land we live on is our children’s future! What are some of the goals you set for yourself this year?
Today’s feature goes to Mother @normacristina_a
“One of my goals for this new year is to get out on the trails and meet more moms that are in the same stage of life as me, with a little one. I isolated myself after having a baby that I lacked the courage to get out and meet new people, now add on anxiety and being an introvert. Not the best formula to be a social person. So if you find yourself in SoCal and you have little ones, invite me on your hiking adventures! 🙋🏻♀️🤱🏻🏃🏻♀️⛰”

Life post-college has been great, especially because I’ve gotten to explore my local playground of Washington DC way more often 🤩
Aside from a certain orange fart that hangs around the city, DC is full of lovely museums, historical monuments, pop-up bars, and events to have infinite day trips 📸🏙
Check out my IG story RIGHT NOW to see some of the dope things I’ve gotten into... Like this pic, where I become part of the art at the @hirshhorn! And click the link in my bio to see my full DC bucket list! When’s the last time you came to DC?
✨Tabata Tuesday! Tabata’s are one of my favorite types of HIIT training (if you are one of my clients you already know this😉)✨

⚡️Do 1 move for 8 rounds of 20/10, take 1 min rest and move onto the next move for 8 rounds. This is a total of 12 minutes of work 💪🏻💗 Ready GO!

The 3 Stages of A Motorcycle Accident:
1. Spend a Couple Months in a Wheelchair
2. Slowly Lose all Your Muscle Mass
3. Spend the Next Year Trying to Get it Back
(Step 4, eat plenty of chocolate to make up for the muscle loss)
Forget the Inca Trail and say hello to the most adventurous road to Machu Picchu 😱😱😱 I signed up for the 5 day Salkantay trek but I had no idea it would be going through snowy, winding mountains! It was unbelievable and better than Machu Picchu itself (which does live up to the hype). 2 days later I was walking for hours in intense heat along the old railway line to Aguas Caliente. Salkantay it up if you're all about the journey, not the destination 🌍✌️🐾
I have a big presentation at work today that I have been nervous about off and on for the last few weeks, even admittedly when I was for the most part enjoying myself outdoors this weekend. I rationally know that I’ve done about a million presentations before and that usually things are fine and if things don’t go as planned I can use the opportunity as a learning experience. My brain somehow doesn’t fully grasp that and I’m left with a lump in my chest. So I’m sitting here wishing I could dial back to Saturday and take some more time to sit on this rock and reflect in calmness. I’m looking forward to a little self care this evening.
