A little thing that totally made my day: it is pretty hot today in Sydney, 28C. I decided to get an iced latte on my way to study instead of getting a hot cappuccino as usual. When the barista called 'Thank you Ruby' I was a little surprised that my take-away latte was served in a glass jar like this. I think he probably can tell from my face so he said 'yes it's for take away'. I double-checked saying ' I can go with the jar?' He said 'yes'. I was like .....' Thank you' 😃(Yes this is exactly what my face looked like at that moment). I don't know what I will do with the jar after I finish my coffee, but....what an unexpected surprise!
Home made anti-flu concoction ...two teaspoons a day keeps the runny nose and sneezes away 🤓
Blend 3 lemons, large ginger, 5 tbs cinnamon, 3tbs turmeric, and honey too taste...make tea with two tbs -pour water over (not too hot) and enjoy!
Thank me later ;) .
Pa collected and sold antiques. Now, he was a jack of all trades, roofer, painter, maker, self proclaimed hustler, the man could sell a brush to a bald man, but I believe antiquing was one of his favorites and also one of mine. I have so many fun memories of yard-sales we shopped, flea markets we browsed and a time or two when we set up our own stand, that was a grand time ... the way he lit up ... I'll never forget that adventure. Ah me, I miss him more than I could ever put into words. A couple months before his diagnosis I went through his buildings and we haggled prices on small glass vials that I intended to paint and sell as wildflower vases. He was so proud, he always stood behind my artistic endeavors and entrepreneurial spirit, he told everyone I got it from him. Just a few short weeks before he passed I remember laying my head on his shoulder. He already knew his prognosis and had made peace that the end was near, he spoke so fluidly about his passing but I wasn't ready. I tried to hold it together but tears involuntarily rolled down my face as he spoke. When he finished his sentence he stoped and said, "Now Raquel, that's just part of life, we all die some day hunny so don't worry about it."
Today I've went through his buildings, picking up the piles I had made of what I wanted to buy from him, our own little layaway system, except now I can't haggle prices, granny said they are mine if I want them. And as I sit on their front porch, looking and reminiscing, tears involuntarily run down my face and all I can think is how I'd rather haggle prices than simply load them into the car.
