RELOCTION TIP FOR ITALY - Don’t Let Low-Cost become High-Cost! – A cheap or “light” arrival program may end up costing you dearly. In a country like Italy where legal battles can continue for decades, make sure that your check in is topnotch and doesn’t leave you vulnerable when you check out. While it’s tempting to cut costs on certain services, dilapidations may end up being a lot more expensive and can become a headache that just won’t abate. Therefore, the check in form should outline very carefully the state of the property and its contents at the time of moving in. This will need to be signed by the tenant, landlord, and the representative of the Relocation Company (DSP). The Destination Service Provider will also need to take photos, photos, and more photos – you can never have enough photos that document the state of the property when an assignee moves in. These photos must also be taken in context to the damage, so that it is very clear what they relate to. RELOCTION TIP FOR MALTA – The housing market in Malta is extremely dynamic and fast moving, which means that literally a property that you may be shown in the morning could be gone by the afternoon! Therefore, if you find a property that you like, it is highly advisable that you make an offer quickly to avoid losing it. Such a fast turnaround is influenced by the fact that demand basically outstrips supply due to the large influx of foreigners moving to Malta for both personal and professional reasons. Also, given the size of the country, the possibility of building of new properties is very limited. Villas with a sea view and swimming pool command top budgets and disappear from the market very quickly. Properties at the lower end of the scale normally don’t suit the requirements of most expatriates. RELOCTION TIP FOR ITALY – If you are a Non-EU citizen and you would like to retire in Italy, you can apply for what is known as an ‘Elective Residency Visa’. To qualify for this Visa, you must demonstrate that you have a monthly income to support yourself that derives from investments, a pension, rental properties, or any other non-work-related source. This type of Visa needs to be applied for at the Italian Consulate that has jurisdiction over where you currently reside – it is advisable to contact the consulate before requesting an appointment to obtain the list of documents that you will need to present during your application process. Once your Visa has been issued, you will be able to apply for a Permit of Stay in Italy. Should you have any questions regarding this type of Visa, please feel free to contact me email@example.com or +39.339.3332547 #globalmobility#italy#immigration#relocation#damienofarrell#coaching#retirement#realestate
RELOCTION TIP FOR ITALY – When a landlord enters a person-to-person lease agreement in Italy, they pay considerably less tax than if they sign a contract with a company. Therefore, this can reduce the number of properties that an assignee can see if a person-to-person contact is not an option. Occasionally, a property owner may be willing to accept a higher rent to offset the higher taxes associated with a corporate contract, but this cannot be guaranteed. "What you seek, is seeking you." Rumi. ATTENTION all #expatwriters : today I want to share with you an incredible opportunity. A couple of years ago, I had recently made a career change spurred by my expat life - from an economist to a writer. But while I felt qualified to work in the many finance positions that i had held all throughout my corporate career, I felt extremely unqualified to be a writer. Investment banking was a methodical science, but where was the formula for good writing?
After struggling and fumbling my way through turning a hobby and a passion into a new career as a freelance writer and blogger, I came across this wonderful opportunity - to apply to become a Parfitt Pascoe Writing Resident (PPWR). To be mentored by the incredible writer, author and publishing extraordinaire Jo Parfitt @summertimewords and to attend the Families in Global Transition (FIGT) conference this year. Completing the PPWR coursework helped me to understand myself and my writing better. It taught me how to bring structure into the writing process and be published in several international magazines and publications. Attending FIGT was one of the highlights of my professional writing career as I heard, participated and covered talks exploring every aspect of our globally mobile lives.
Jo Parfitt is currently accepting applications for the PPWR 2018 and offering 6 fully funded spots for 6 writers. The deadline is Oct 1st and you can find more information at www.figt.org to apply. Diverse applicants are very welcome! #writershelpingwriters
Knee Pain: suprapatellar (above the knee cap). If you experience pain just above your knee cap there are a few things you can do to help:
1️⃣ Pay attention to your movement patterns. Movements during your day (in and out of the gym) create habits that transfer to loaded movements. If you've established unhealthy patterns, you can be setting yourself up for injury.
2️⃣ Correct unhealthy movement patterns and PRACTICE healthy movement patterns. This can be something as simple as your gait (how you walk) to a more complex movement like picking up boxes/moving furniture.
3️⃣ Warm up and stretch properly before workouts. Spend time mobilizing and strengthening weaknesses...this will also help to correct unhealthy movement patterns.
4️⃣ Be aware of your movements during your workouts. Record yourself. Find weaknesses that need improvement. Pay attention to how movements FEEL. Learn what it feels like to have correct positioning. Don't practice movements with incorrect positions. Let go of your ego. Back off and fix it.
Bone health, joint health, blood flow, nervous system function, digestion, etc. is all influenced by healthy movements.
5️⃣ Let your body recover. More is not always better. In fact, sometimes doing less will improve your body composition---growing muscle or losing fat, sleep, immune function, strength, etc. Resting and eating appropriately for recovery is just as important, if not more, than the time you bust your balls in the gym.
Take care of your body inside and out (cells have feelings, too 😜) and it will take care of you❤️🏃🏽♀️💆🏽🏋🏽♀️🍊

Wake up and slay your day! 🙆🏼 One of my favourite shoulder openers! This can easily be used Pre or Post WOD. •
PREWOD: using your breath to guide your movement, inhale and press your elbows into the railing or bench (whatever you have available) and curl your upper back, exhale gently release the contraction and allow your chest to melt to the ground. Move in and out of this 5-10 times. •
POSTWOD: using a couple breaths to settle into the stretch like you did with the PREWOD but instead of continuous movement complete two or three breaths with movement and then hold the end range, allowing the chests to slowly sink towards the ground as you focus on your breath - hold the stretch for 1 min or until you feel complete 🙆🏼❤️ •
Note: be gentle and pay attention to your body, no forcing necessary, it's about letting go and seeing where your body will take you 🙏🏻 #mvmnt#mvmntismedicine#maybeitsmvmnt
