I know you've heard of avocado toast, but have you ever had it on a rice cake?!?! Also, I am just now getting around to my #sdac from @makinitmobetta. I decided to be a little creative and make a red Solo challenge. Haha. It's truly water in there. I promise. 😂.
I tag @ww_southerngirl86 @healthyhabits4lisa and @byebye_thighs.
Oh man... this band gave me trouble today. It took me an extra 15 mins in my workout because of the pausing to fix my band! Turns out band rolling means you are not getting the resistance you need... looks like I’m getting stronger! 💪 #bootyday 🍑
Sweet potatoes= the only potatoes which are not part of the nightshade fam!
Do you know about #nighshade ?? If you have a sensitive gut, or if you're just interested in plants, you may get something out of researching them! Members of the nightshade fam include ~
All potatoes but sweet potatoes
And to cut a long story short these assholes endogenously produce a pesticide to protect themselves from would be munchers. This pesticide is a lil toxic tbh and someone who suffers from gluten sensitivity, ibs or other gut issues may find that eating a nightshade plant provokes their symptoms.
#breakfast was a smoothie. Counting it as 3sp (berries, yogurt, and almond milk). I also had a cup of coffee with creamer for 4sp. I have a banana and one string cheese on my desk, so that'll be a snack.
Welcome to a new little thing I like to call #KatieMagRants . I've debated doing this because I would guess most of us try to avoid people who rant, right? Hoveverrrrr, sometimes there are some things that I just really need to get off my chest and I BET you will either relate to or learn from some of them! So imma do it. I'm gonna start the dang thing. I promise to do my very best to keep these light-hearted, fun, or at the very least, informative!!! And with that, rant numero uno is devoted to the #whole30 program:
WHOLE30 IS NOT A DIET. 👏👏👏 Nope. It's not. And it's CERTAINLY not meant to become an entire 24/7 never-have-any-fun lifestyle. Sure, it falls under the "diet" category in many bookstores or online because...where else would YOU suggest placing a book on changing your relationship with food?! 🤷 Lol. That's kinda tricky right? 🤔
So if it isn't a diet, what IS it? It's a 30-day experiment to find out what foods COULD be making you sick and to discover your emotional tendencies with food. 😭😥😣😤😬😩 (< me 🙋😂) You eliminate the most common "problem foods" that many people do not tolerate well and then strategically add them back in to figure out what's totally fine and what isn't making you feel too hot. On top of that, I have found, through my many rounds, that with each round I learned something new about where and how I tend to use food to accompany my various feelings (even good feelings). Sad: ice cream. 🍦 Bored: popcorn. 🍿Celebrating: guac and margs. 🌮🍹(duh)
THE WHOLE30 IS NOT MEANT TO BE LONG-TERM. If someone is arguing that the Whole30 sucks because it isn't sustainable... they're missing the point and I'd HIGHLY encourage you to read a little more about the program (not just the "rules") before you dismiss it. I don't care what someone's credentials are. If something is making you sick, how will you ever know what it is if you don't mix things up? Because I've done multiple rounds now, I know exactly what is worth having and what absolutely isn't. I never would have known these things were it not for doing this 30 day experiment (a few times). And that is all...for now.
Peace out. ✌
Its really hard sometimes when you have to eat glutenfree. A lot of people are laughing about you. Making jokes like : you don't have an Intolerance, no you just have an eating disorder. 🙈 just eat the gluten what can happen to you? I will tell you a Story what really happens when I am eating gluten. I was out yesterday for a Drink with my roomies. We also Shared some french fries. I didnt checked if they are glutenfree because I felt ashamed of my allergy. Again 🙈 !
you have to ask all the Time. Everyone is acting annoyed by you. So sometimes I just skip the asking Part just hoping its glutenfree and I am gonna survive this. Like yesterday. So we ate this French fries. About 10 min later I started to feel dizzy. Everything started to Rotate. I Sweated all over my Body. I couldn't breath so well and it felt like I am gonna to swoon. I tried to breath, to concentrated myself. Luckily we went just downstairs to the First bar. So I went as fast as I could upstairs back to our Apartment to have a Date with our Toilet.
Terrible story.... and it happens Everytime when I am eating gluten. This shit makes me literally Sick. So just Please try Not to Make other people small just because they have Intolerances. For you its might be just fun. But for sensitive people its really not funny at all......
Do you know what’s delicious? Red cabbage slaw with roasted beets (I used @lovebeets) and a red wine vinaigrette! Seriously a great combo of flavors😍Yay for packages of cooked beets in the fridge ready to go. #vegan#glutenfree#whatsfordinner
Majority of my patients have the genetics that indicate issues with gluten (HLA-DQ 2,8,1, or 3). Having the “eliminate gluten/grains” discussion is not easy. Food is a source of pleasure...and addiction. When we eliminate a food that we love but it’s a source of ill health, remember why we are giving up the food. Choose health. #glutenfreeliving#glutenintolerance#choosehealth#genetictesting#functionalmedicine
Mason jar eats for a #meatlessmonday lunch 🙌🏻 These are so easy to make ahead of time and great to bring with you on the go. All you need to do is pick a protein, grain, 2 veggies and some add ins! You can actually put in whatever you’d like🥑👍🏻

I can't believe I found myself unknowingly making Buddha Bowls the past week. 🙈😮👏🏾I've been making an effort to transition to a 💯 plant-based diet. Previously I've attempted Buddha Bowls and hated the idea of eating a bowl of veggies and ate most processed foods. This I'm time minimizing processed foods with the goal of eventually becoming a raw vegan, but that's months down the road. ………………………………………………………………
I honestly don't LOVE veggies and veggies don't always love me back. I'm technically allergic to most plants. Which translates into food intolerances to most fruits and vegetables, because their basic proteins are very similar to the plants I'm allergic to. My sensitivities most closely match Salicylate Intolerance. ………………………………………………………………
Anyway in an effort to make more balanced meals I've been trying to incorporate: a grain, healthy fat, raw leafy green, loads of sautéed vegetables, etc. Sweet potatoes and salad are my go to sides. I also put lemon juice on literally everything! 🍋 I would also like to work on using less oils when cooking - but baby steps!
My local Party City has closed.
But had there still been one, I wouldn’t give them my business.
Apparently they are running a Super Bowl ad were they call Celiacs “those” and refer to Gluten Free feed as “gross”.
They have taken the ad off their YouTube channel but it is still running on TV. I’ve seen the ad.....
Shame on you Party City. .
I personally am not a Celiac. I am Gluten sensitive and my daughter is highly SUPER sensitive (eating Gluten was sending her to the ER). But a lot of people that follow me here, on my blog & FB page are. I just think this is intolerable. .
What do you do when you’re craving Thai and have a spaghetti squash to be made? Chicken Pad Thai spaghetti squash! I loved substituting spaghetti squash for rice noodles in this dish for a healthier alternative!

Crockpots are perfect for long days to come home to a nice meal! This is my 8 hour Thai coconut chicken with a blend of veggies I had in the fridge! I added coconut milk in the beginning but in future, I would add in the last hour or so for have a bolder flavor.
