Arrived at Goblin Valley State Park and it was so hot that it felt like we were standing on the surface of the sun. We opted to take ourselves on a driving tour instead 😎 Here is a view of Wild Horse Butte on our way out.
After three days of driving...the last day and a half in rain...with a busted windshield on my Airstream Basecamp...I finally made it to my first stop in Utah. I mostly spent today scouting workshop locations around the Hanksville, Utah. I attempted to drive into the area around Factory Butte but quickly realized that the muddy road was going to be too risky for me and my tiny home on wheels. I decided to head towards Canyonlands National Park. On my way there I realized that the Sun was going to make an appearance below the edge of the clouds to the west. With strong thunderstorms to the east I knew there'd be a great opportunity to shoot rainbows (and maybe lightning at the same time). I hightailed it back to a location near Goblin Valley State Park that I had checked out earlier in the afternoon as it afforded the best views to the east that I could recall. Here's what the sunset looked like to me and my camera looking at the mesas and buttes to the east.

You don't need to know Ukrainian to understand that the tiny dot inside the letter Ю are actually two people standing together. This is my way to explain the scale of this massive Valley.
Хоч повірте, хоч перевірте, але цяточка на фото всередині букви Ю - це двоє людей, які стоять поруч. На моєму шикарному екрані насправді можна побачити, що один розповідає не дуже смішний жарт, а інший натягнуто посміхається....
This is the quietest place I have ever been to. There were no birds, no bugs, and no people. I wish I could have stayed the night. I can imagine how dark it must get there too!
There are numerous places to camp around Goblin Valley. We love to find places off the beaten path where we can find some solitude and have the view all to ourselves. Here, Gid has just stepped out to witness a glorious sunny morning after a rainy night. You can find all our recommendations for where to stay around Goblin Valley on the blog.✌
