Watching the newest Sitka film, “Ducktrip,” has had me flipping through photos of an old hunt these last couple weeks. One, because one of the men was in the film, two, because another moved to Washington, and now I know why! All of the men on this hunt crossed paths because of one man... the man on the right, JJ Kent. I had the privilege of getting to know JJ over the years through various jobs in the duck hunting industry. He knew how to do a duck outfit right, and paved the way for most others in the North Texas waterfowl scene. JJ was taken from us far too early last year. It’s hard not to go on a hunt without thinking of him. I’m sure many hunters, including the ones in this photo, would say the same.
