After calling in sick to work one evening in July myself, @dijon_kelly and @bigfatwillis decided to try our luck and sneak into an abandoned building in Gowanus, Brooklyn, known as the ‘Batcave’, a former power station that became a lawless squatting community, culminating in a man being thrown through a window to his death. Surrounded by barbed wire fences and a canal (one of the most toxic bodies of water in America) on one side we soon found out they were beginning to demolish it and had security guards stationed inside. After numerous attempts at finding a way over the fence we tried to pay two guys who were kayaking down the canal to ferry us across but they refused. We ended up accepting defeat, hanging around under a bridge and eating crisp sandwiches in a nearby car park. This photo is of Jon, about 50 yards down from the Batcave under the bridge. ______ Gowanus, Brooklyn
