A LOT of ingredients go into creating a good 'make it nutritious' veggie burger, especially this Lentil burger. 💚

Lentils are high in folic acid, a B vitamin. Dopamine synthesis relies on B vitamins. ✅

Ingredients: 🌿🍃
1 cup lentils ( any kind except red lentils) 
2 cups water
1 Bay leaf 
1/2 cup onions
2 large garlic cloves 
1 T minced fresh ginger 
1/4 cup shredded carrots 
1/4 cup red bell pepper ( missing from the photo)
1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds 
1/2 cup quick oats
1/2 cup gluten free bread crumbs 
1/2 cup cooked brown rice 
1/4 cup minced fresh basil or parsley 
1/4 cup nutritional yeast 
1 tsp cumin 
1tsp paprika
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 
1 tsp sea salt and ground pepper to taste 
Juice of one lemon 
Directions: 🌿🍃
1)  Toast sunflower seeds on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet @275F for 25 mins 
2)  Soak lentils in hot water for 2 hrs, drain and rinse. Place in 4 qt pot with 2 cups of water and 1 bay leaf. Bring to a boil and simmer covered for 30 mins. Remove lid, increase heat to medium stirring occasionally until remaining liquid is absorbed and lentils are tender. Mash, leaving some lentils whole. 
3)  Chop onions, garlic, carrots, bell pepper and grate ginger. 
4)  Sauté onions, garlic and ginger for 5 mins. Add spices and stir another 2 mins. Remove from heat. 
5)  Place oats, seeds, cooked lentils, veggies and salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl then add the sautéed onions, garlic, and ginger. 
6)  Add nutritional yeast and basil or parsley. 
7)  Stir to make a stiff mixture ( add more oats if not stiff enough) 
8)  Add juice of 1 lemon and let stand 1/2 hr to bind before shaping into patties. 
9)  Fry 10 mins on each side, or bake in the oven @375F for 15 mins then turn and bake another 10 mins until crispy. 
Freezes very well. •••

2)  Pour over the strawberries while they're still in the container - be sure to move them around in order to wash each berry well. 
3)  Drain on a paper towel till fairly dry then put back in the same container that you've dried of any excess solution first and then refrigerate. 
The ph in the vinegar kills any spores preventing them from going mouldy. 🌿🍃

Greens are considered the  healthiest foods on the planet, so you should try to make it a priority to have some form of greens 3x each day. 🌿🍃 For example, breakfast can be mint chocolate oatmeal --cooked oatmeal, cocoa powder, chopped mint leaves, and a healthy sweetener like date syrup. Or having a green smoothie each morning is a perfect way to incorporate the antioxidant-loaded, chlorophyll-rich greens into children's diet. 🌿🍃
Many of the nutrients in greens are fat soluble, so pair greens with a healthy source of fat ( avocado, nuts, nut butter, or seeds) to maximize nutrient absorption. 🌿🍃
This can be as easy as adding a tahini-based dressing to a salad, or sprinkling some walnuts or toasted sesame seeds on sautéed kale. It doesn't take a lot to boost absorption ( just a single walnut, spoonful of avocado or even some shredded coconut ). 20 years ago I heard an oncologist speaking on the radio about the dangers of plastic water bottles. Seedlings have 40x the nutrients of the fully mature vegetable, so with continued replanting it's possible to have a steady supply of intensive nutrients for my salad all summer long. But if growing to maturity I will need to thin them to stand 30 cm apart. 🌿🍃
