Random grain free hot cereal bowl because some mornings you wake up craving everything in sight 😅No shame though because somehow these flavors worked sooo well together 😍 Woke up super sore because my roommate and I have being running and working out like crazy to avoid studying 😂 Was going to do a yoga video before breakfast but the hanger got me 😬 So I decided to make a quick breakfast using @wildwayoflife grain free hot cereal 👌🏻 For being grain free, it sure was some delicious stuff 😎 I'm not gluten intolerant but I do like to minimize the grains in my diet. Just gotta find what works for you 💃🏼 I added in a coconut fat ball and man it hit the spot 💯 Moral of the story is, if you wake up sore and super hungry EAT! Your body probably needs some extra fuel. I always make sure I'm fueling up with real, whole foods and go from there. Borrow a page from raw veganism to make the most incredible tomato sauce ever by blending instead of cooking 😎
Pop some cherry tomatoes (~1 cup), a few sundried tomatoes (~1/8 cup), basil (couple of leaves), & evoo (~1 tbsp) into your @thenutribullet & blend.
It’s the fastest way to make tomato sauce, and the taste is out of this 🌎! You can always warm it up in a pan for a bit, if preferred.
Zoodle up some zucchini using a spiralizer, or make zucchini fettuccini with a regular veg peeler. Leave it raw or steam for 2-3 minutes for easier digestion 💃🏽

So the Baumetz Family is moving away from our paleo diet 😳 (only in the current age of social media would anyone ever announce such a thing 😂) We are grateful for the ways that eating the paleo diet has allowed our bodies to heal and repair. We’ve learned a lot and we are much healthier for it!
That being said, I’ve felt change coming for some time now. I’ve been searching for ways to incorporate traditional foods so we can move away from all of the “elimination” of foods.
I’ve dabbled with Weston A Price and Nourishing Traditions but with the recent arrival of a local chapter I’ve paid more attention to their teachings. I’m excited to venture into preparing new foods for our family.
Our raw milk is clabbering, our sauerkraut is fermenting and our almonds are sprouting. I’m learning how to use my Vitamix to grind our own flour and relentlessly searching where we can find the right grains.
Cheers to new adventures, smelly things all around our house and a family who is game for anything and patient with me as I try to navigate all of this 🙌
Today flew by! It was a productive day where we got quite a bit done so this crazy week ahead hopefully goes fairly smooth. There is nothing like a bowl of chili and “corn”bread on a Sunday evening.😍 I use the paleo crockpot chili by @paleo_newbie_recipes which I love because my kids eat it up and it’s filled with veggies. One of the hardest things about changing my lifestyle and eating habits when my health issues started was learning to kick sugar. I've always loved sweets and while I'd like to say I no longer get cravings, that's just not true. Now when I find myself getting those cravings, I have tons of alternatives to turn to...one of my favorites being smoothie bowls. This time around was:
-1/4c frozen blueberries
-1/4c frozen zucchini
-8 small cubes frozen purple sweet potato
-1/2c homemade coconut yogurt
-1 scoop @drinkorgain df protein
-hempseed milk to blend
Topped with nut butter, my grain-free granola, and a few more frozen berries🤤

I know what this looks like. You’re wrong. Those are not tomatoes 🍅 on that salad. They’re pan-roasted 🥕 browned in my @lodgecastiron skillet and dripping in a lemon-tahini sauce. This whole salad thing just elevated a bit, did it not?!
This vegan lunch is dairy-free, gluten-free, grain-free, nightshade-free and nut-free...about as anti-inflammatory as it gets. Arugula tossed in olive oil and sea salt, the lemon-tahini pan-roasted carrots mentioned above, a heaping spoonful of @manitobaharvest hemp seeds, and topped with fresh broccoli sprouts and more lemon 🍋 and olive oil. It wasn’t as yummy as it sounds - it was better!
And it photographed so beautifully I’ll probably have to post about it again. Thought hemp seeds are insanely awesome protein sources, if you wanted to add even more, roasted chickpeas would be delicious on this, as would chicken as an omnivorous option.
Today was a Christmas baking kind of day in our house. Yes, we do love cookies and treats!
My goal with everything I do in the kitchen is to nourish the ones I love. This comes in many forms other than just nutrient dense foods. The teaching and sharing in the kitchen feeds my kids little souls. They love to have their hands in the mix and help with every part. I love this too!
Begin young and share about everything. Why we choose the foods and ingredients we choose is a big one. We often talk about what fuels and energizes our bodies and what can also rob us of our vitality. I spend less time on limiting certain things and more time on explanation... and simply suggest they make the choice that results in them feeling good.

I wonder if this particular statistic will ever not flabbergast me. I know this already but every time I hear it I shake my head and gasp in disbelief. Guess what coincides perfectly with the government recommendation to eat a low-fat diet which happened for the first time in the late 70s? A massive increase in the consumption of refined carbohydrates which also happens to correspond perfectly with the massive increase in obesity and obesity related diseases.
