#whatgrowstogethergoestogether Rheinhessen edition
2012 Grauburgunder trocken Edition Leckzapfen from Weingut Kratz in Osthofen, Rheinhessen, Germany with Spundekäs.
It's muy interesante some Rheinhessen pinot blancs et pinot grises I bought years ago vor Ort seem to be debunking the common notion of them as being inappropriate for ageing. On the other hand this wine hasn't changed much in 5 years. I like a crispy fresh white anyway and hence the typical pinot gris fruit flavors still being held at bay by acidity is #besseralsindiehosgeschisse
Osthofener Leckzapfen is one of many german single vineyards I'm definitely not capable to value unbiasedly. I'm a sucker for Einzellagennamen. Hochheimer Hölle, Mussbacher Eselshaut, Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen, these names are awesome.
Unfortunately large vineyards are allowed to use names which sound very similar.
Hochheimer Daubhaus (Großlage) usually is rather not quite as good as Hochheimer Domdechaney.
Osthofen in Rheinhessen never made it internationally like Hochheim. Therefore Lady Di, the Prince of Wales, Queen mum, Tony Blair, Till Schweiger, Oswald Mosley, Boris Becker, Mahatma Gandhi, Samantha Fox, Oliver Cromwell, Ali G, Bob Marley, Walter Bagehot, Jesko Puls, Elton John, Noddy Holder and Jussi Björling most likely haven't had the pleasure to enjoy a nice glass of Osthofener Leckzapfen.
If Noddy Holder asked me for a suitable snack to accompany his Osthofener Leckzapfen I would recommend Spundekäs. Or worscht.
