Engagement sessions are so awesome. It allows myself and my clients to interact before the big day. They get to see how I work and pose and I get to see them smile and laugh together. It's a great time to relax and have fun before the wedding day.
I made a goal to wash, blow dry and curl my hair every day last week and it’s amazing how much more I love my hair after I invest a little time and effort. The things you want to flourish most are the things you should invest in. What is something that you want to invest in this week in order to love it more? #kyleeannbride P.S. Miss these guys. <3
i hear the birds at night, when the sky melts from blue to pink. when the waves seem to take a little more time getting to the shore. when the air is still. just for the moment, it's quiet. just me and the birds that cry when the sun says goodbye, perhaps afraid that they'll never see it again.
I can't put into words how much I love my job. Im lucky enough to meet awesome people from all over the map, and then have the privilege of capturing their love for one another. These two came in from Missouri and we wandered Breckenridge after that ridiculous May snow storm, and I couldn't have had a better time with them. Cheers Alex and Chris, can't wait for your wedding! 🥂
Today inspiration hit for a styled shoot and I'm so excited. This shot is from the one I did last year and it was a delight! As a creative we spend a lot of time creating for pay. It's our job. We bring our style and passion to a job and at the end our worth is decided by how much the client loves what we created (or it feels like it at least) Planning a shoot outside of a client means we can get crazy or weird or abstract or traditional or experimental or WHATEVER WE WANT! A truly creative and unpaid gig frees us to be unshackled and to worry less about a client and more about art. It's what keeps the bucket full and without a full bucket we have nothing to pour into our clients.
Ready to get weird this summer, y'all!

I have to take a moment and give it up my guy. I am so thankful for you, Max. You keep me grounded, you keep me sane, you listen even though I spout the same things over and over. You are always proud of me, always make me smile and always know when I need just one more cup of coffee. You understand every single part of me, you laugh with me and my favorite part, you love all of me. I could never thank God enough for you, and I cannot wait to be your wife ❤️ | #ForeverDeleWhatever
So flipping excited to head off to Maddie + Andrew's big day in St Thomas tomorrow, flying super bright and early 🛩! Although there's always tons of preparation that goes into shooting a destination wedding, every one is completely different and unexpected and I can't wait to capture their unique connection. Photos and weird instagram stories to come!
and so the story goes... they've been dating for eight years. i've become good friends with josh and alissa way back to josh and i starting in the same class of student athletes at UNO. alissa has been waiting patiently. besides josh's parents, i've known this was happening longer than anyone else (been planning for about a month with Josh on when/where/how). she almost didn't believe it. she was so close to seeing me (while actively looking around) so i basically dove into a bush and laid horizontally. she was surprised like none other. josh nailed it. and there was no chill, WHATSOEVER. congrats, you two! tonight was so so special and i would have thrown myself into a huge bush any day to capture it for you 💕✨❤️🤘🏼
I second shot for my friend @yunkinkeophomma a couple weeks ago. The ceremony was at a lovely old church. When I walked in to check out the sanctuary the church coordinator approached me and asked if I wanted to know where the "choir loft" was. My reply: Yes. Yes, I do.// Bless her heart.
What a long day! Between a bad nights sleep, work, hosting cheer tryouts, and running to a church activity I am ready for this 14 hour day to end. I think I will go home and lay by Zach on the couch until I fall asleep watching tv. That sounds like a good way to round off this day.. I literally can feel my eyes closing as I type this 😴😴😴
Whenever a couple asks me if they should do a first look my answer is always yes, mostly because I really like shooting them and I'm selfish like that. 😜 But seriously? They're such a fun part of the story and just generally a blast to shoot. Want to make your wedding photographer super happy? Do a first look. Am I right, photog friends?! 🙌
It's been four years since this gorgeous wedding, and it's gone by FAST! I love getting to keep in touch with these two and seeing them from from a couple into a sweet family! Happy Anniversary Etalia and Tom!

I'm getting so antsy to photograph this couples wedding tomorrow!!! We did bridals yesterday and I was super giddy about them afterwards that I culled through and edited their entire first look/formal session all in a little under 2 hours! But since their wedding day isn't until tomorrow... the rings will just have to do for now! Side note: can we all just appreciate the colors of that rock!!!
I'm all about those candid in between moments, the real ones, but I won't let anyone go home without some solid, non-awkward, portraits looking at the camera because these are equally important. / hair by @josievilay, makeup by @ashleytiopoartistry
I know I don't post too much personal stuff on here, and I realize I need to more often. Because memories like today, a day spent with my little tribe of a family are so important. To be refreshed and reprioritize what really matters in life.
Taking a beautiful photo is amazing, don't get me wrong, I LOVE photography. But actually being in a memory instead of photographing them for others is and will always be more satisfying. I think sometimes we all need this reminder. And today, I got mine ❤
my favorite images of couples can't be posed or coached. sometimes this can be a challenge because everyone feels the need to have constant direction and coaching. but the beauty shines through when our couples get comfortable and open up to us by being themselves. so my favorite pose I direct is "get comfortable". they can take that any way - laying, standing, sitting, and you know it won't be awkward or forced because it's natural.
this shoot was the perfect example of what makes beautiful images to me. it could be the fact that they are the most gorgeous couple I have seen and I've been crushing hard on them (really ask Caleb I won't shut up about them) or it could be the fact that there was a language barrier which caused me to give less direction than I normally do. ether way, we started off by playing music and saying "get comfortable". their love and connection was such a privilege to photograph and this whole shoot gives me chicken skin 💛
ahhh... them. they're love. this country. this flat. .... them whispering french nothings into each other's ears. I die.
Valen always talked so highly of her dad. Even during her bridal session we took a photo specifically for him. When Valen talked about doing a first-look with him, I knew, without a doubt, that it would be a moment they would treasure forever. When the moment came, and Valen was standing there ready head to toe, and her dad turned around, facing the opposite direction, I felt myself start to tear up. The moment I asked her dad to turn around to see his girl for the first time as a bride, his smile could not have been bigger. As the walked closer and closer to her to give her a big hug, so much embrace, love, emotion, and joy overcame him. I thought to myself, this is exactly why I do what I do - for moments like this.
Last Saturday I joined the lovely Sarah and Rob and their dear daughter Grady at a love party that broke the mold. Sarah surprised us all with a spectacular red dress, Rob and his deep crew of kind groomsmen, and family and friends gushing with love for these two was off the chain. Thanks for sharing your dream day with me, so honored to have witnessed the magic!
