I just picked up some custom molded hearing pro from @soundgear_official . These are the solid, non-electronic version, which retail for $150. A G-note for the electronic version just wasn’t feasible or me. .
Here’s my lowdown and dirty initial review of them. Finding an audiologist office to get the initial ear impressions was a bit of an ordeal, but once that happened, I received the pro in a week. .
They are a little more challenging to insert into your ear than foamies, but once in, they are quite a bit more comfortable, and the reason I wanted to try them. The thing that bothers me is that an air gap will develop between the pro and your inner ear if you partially or fully open your mouth. This also happens when I smile. The air gap allows noise to enter your ear, which is no bueno. Sweat between the pro and my skin make this worse. .
The lanyard, although nice, isn’t necessary or desirable if you simultaneously use muffs. It easily detaches from the pro. .
I’ve only used them for 4 hours at an indoor match last night, so I’ll update this as I use them more.
