In #DC yesterday for meetings and had the opportunity to walk around @gwuniversity’s campus for the first time in a while. So many familiar sights mixed in with lots of changes and updates, #MitchellHall looks the same from the outside as the day I moved in freshman year. We had the city at our fingertips. I’m incredibly grateful for my time there and the friends I made and cherish to this day. #GWU#alumni#roadwarrior
Coming to #GWU tomorrow for a campus tour? Make sure to check out #GWAppleDay from 12-2 pm! Grab a tasty apple and even snap a fun photo as George or Martha Washington (show us your photos by hashtagging #GWAdmissions ), all while supporting local farmers.
After 3 weeks of being very sick and unable to work or do grad school, my brain is finally starting to function normally again. I am so thankful to work for an organization that offers a great benefits package. I’m also lucky because less than 40% of Americans have personal medical leave through their employers or paid sick days. Americans should not have to worry about how they’re going to pay their bills if they have to miss work because they’re too sick, have to take care of a child or elderly parent, or have a baby (hello men - this is for you too). Tell Congress to support S. 337/H.R. 947, the FAMILY Act, so Americans can take better care of themselves, their families, create financial security, and help boost local economies. The FAMILY Act will create a stronger workforce that helps workers and women succeed. .
I walked into my advisors office today, shut the door, and embarrassingly revealed a complete and total lack of confidence in my academic abilities and made one of these faces: 😬. Rather than dismiss my fears she acknowledged them, pointed out why I should have confidence, and gave me a tool to move forward: repetition. Patterns, cycles, consistency, just do it again and again and again... and so tomorrow, I’ll get up before dawn again, take Thelma for a walk again, and sit down to write again (and read, and do math stuff and things, and space out, and daydream, and return to earth from orbit, and take notes, and run, and ... you get the idea). Patterns, huh? I like patterns 😁. #collegedropouttophd
