Viking Corps @vanarchy_gym having a little fun trying out one of the #shawgripchallenge . Me and Nate grabbed the old fat Olympic 35 pound plates smooth side out. We tried the 45 pounders but quickly realized we are not Brian Shaw. Holy crap that man could crush your skull with his grip. Anyway it’s fun to test your self on days when the weather sucks and it’s a light training day. Have fun grow and get stronger. Seems like the young @yeah_hawk did it much easier than me but I’m ok with that, for Odins sake I’m twenty years his senior and the kids a powerhouse. I tried headstands for the first time a couple of days ago. Then I had to call into question all the years of my life that I hadn't tried them. They're pretty fun! This was my second attempt today.
After I wrapped up most of my work for the day, I had about 20 things I wanted to do around the house. Caulking, cleaning, boring stuff. I decided to sprinkle in some calisthenics while I did it. I think this actually made me more productive, and I got in a great workout.
I essentially did 60 second bouts of an exercise, or went close to failure on a bunch of different bodyweight exercises, isometrics, gymnastics exercises. Then I gave myself 120s to run around and do part of a chore. It made me rush, and I think that's where the productivity came from.
I didn't use any equipment for this workout, unless you count my body, the floor, and the wall. It was simple as hell, fun, effective, and it wasn't very time consuming.
You can freeze overanalyzing things. You can freeze up thinking that a workout needs to be long and elaborate. Just move. Mix extra movement into your day, mix extra exercise into your day. You can even find little things like the headstands that you'd do just for kicks. You won't realize until your upside down that it actually is a good time!
