So I'm like super ill right now and yeah haven't worked out in two weeks but I'm pretty impressed with my current condition, it just goes to show that if you put in the work even when you're ill you can still keep the results, here's to hoping that I don't lose everything like last time 🤞🏻 🚑
In life we have two options: to go ahead all systems go, or to sit back watching in the position of a by-stander. Why on Earth would we ever choose the option to sit back, ripping opportunities and experiences away from our very own grip?! Just as there are options, there are excuses, and unfortunately, so many of us opt to make an excuse rather than a promise to yourself that you will do all you can in your power to better yourself, both mentally and physically. The more we do, the more we will learn from, gaining opportunity and experience, allowing us the easier opportunity in bettering what we are able to achieve. Today, I walked into the gym without my normal monstrosity of what some may call coffee. At first, I really did think that my performance would be effected by this one little factor. But in the space of two seconds, I got slapped by myself right round the mush with a reality check, and realised the ridiculousness of the excuse I'd told myself. I walked out the gym unable to put one foot in front of the other properly, feeling like I'd just stepped off of the worlds most scary rollercoaster. I upped the weights in every single one of my exercises, and felt proud of my performance. Home for dinner now; some fresh fish with vegetable, salad and potato, cooked by my babe. This has always been one of my fave gym quotes; but boy, when you live and train by this saying you surely do feel it! I've gone back to training alone for a while so am now mixing up my training methods, and occasionally joining other workout buddies. Yesterday it was the turn of my big friendly giant of a luvvvva to train me. I forgot what was in store. I was whinging like a baby, I nearly pooped myself and I really was making a scene... he in fact told me ' if you don't shut up, I'll walk out and leave you', but he didn't. He stuck by my side and trained me until I could no longer put in the required efforts. I've been training light for 20 reps and have gotten myself into a nice routine which I'm loving the effects of.. so for him to come and disturb that- upping my weights and lowering my reps, I wasn't all that keen. However, he kept telling me in order to achieve the looks I want for comp time, I must become even more serious- which I found hard to take in. I felt like a fool, I'm used to lifting lighter weights so felt like a failure when I was unable to complete my 20 reps, but I was of course compensating by reducing the reps. It jut ft weird to me. But hey ho, we got to give it to him, he got me burning. He'll be training me again today for back and bi's but I will definitely be back doing my own thing tomorrow/ leg day. I'm now able to take his information and ideas whilst incorporating them into my own plan. Wednesday is hump day, but everyday is pump day... so I'm on my way to go get my hump feeling some kind of pump with that clanging and banging in the gym!! This week is a super busy week and I have three appointments just today, one hour after the other. Maybe I should have set my alarm earlier to wake me this morning but closing the bar at work ad then getting home saw me walking in through the door at an unGodly hour...and I'm one of those that really needs my sleep. After hearing the song sing of the alarm and doing my mental maths working out my travel time vs my workout time- concurring it would be 40 mins travel to 35 mins workout I wondered whether or not to stay in bed for that extra couple hours- preparing me for another close shift tonight at work- but NO!
I got my ass outta bed, and onto this bus!! Once you've caught the gym bug there's no going back, it's long lasting and hard wearing, my kind of bug!
