Balans staat voor mij voor stilstaan, 'in je comfortzone blijven.' Een plek waar je naar mijn mening jezelf niet moet begeven als je vooruit streeft in het leven.

We willen allemaal van alles het beste hebben, maar hoe ga je van alles 100% hebben als je maar 100% focus hebt om te verdelen?
.
Voorbeeld; je wilt stoppen met roken, een goed fysiek neerzetten voor de zomer en je algemene gezondheid verbeteren. Dan zul je wellicht die gezellige club vrienden die zichzelf elk weekend klemzuipen en platroken in de club toch echt wat minder moeten gaan zien. Niet omdat ze niet deugen, maar omdat het doel wat jij voor ogen hebt simpelweg niet rijmt met hun vrije tijdsbesteding.

Wat gebeurd er? Je creëert een (tijdelijke) disbalans in je leven. Je maakt een tekort in je sociale leven om meer focus te leggen op je eigen doelen.
.
Ik zeg tijdelijk, want een nieuw sociaal leven kan ontstaan op het moment dat jij je nieuwe healthy lifestyle omarmt. Echter is dit een mild voorbeeld van een niet zo extreem hooggegrepen doel.
.
Maar hoe groter je doel is, hoe meer disbalansen je moet creëren in je leven om dat doel te behalen.
.
In plaats van werken naar een gebalanceerd leven, stel prioriteiten die jij belangrijk vindt. Dit kan ook zijn; meer tijd met familie om de banden te versterken. Whatever floats your boat.
.
Stel je doelen, neem de disbalansen voor lief, rock die sh*t en stel indien naderhand bij.

Nog niet zo lang gelden had ik al moeite met 60kg door een blessure en ik ben verrast hoe snel mijn lichaam zich hersteld heeft. Gezonde voeding en rust doet zoveel meer met je lichaam dan je je kunt voorstellen.

Noah and I busted out what was easily one of the most brutal leg sessions of the #250kchallenge to date.  This shit looked MUCH easier on paper...lol...however,  it was everything but easy!

Started out with drop set of leg extension doing 25 reps, drop the weight a bit then doing 25 more reps. Next was another set of extensions,  this time pyramiding up 10 reps at a time , adding weight every 10 reps until we reached 50. Next was what really kicked our asses...3 giant sets of landmine squats x 25, hex bar squats x 25 and Bulgarian squats x 20...THREE of those fuckers. As if we weren't fried enough, finished annihilating quads with 3 sets of 15-20 reps of smith machine front squats. I'm fairly proud of myself at this point for not throwing up yet. No, we're not even done yet.  Busted out 5 sets of 20-30 reps of standing calf raises and THEN finished up with 3 gut wrenching giant sets of abs...consisting of 20 Roman chairs, medicine ball passes to failure & cross body mountain climbers.

I've got multiple reasons as to why I'm doing this challenge...some personal, some for others....but my biggest reason why...my kids.
When I first decided to do this challenge, it was because of a few personal goals as well as to help others...with direction, education, motivation,  etc...but then...then my twins got on board. They are doing this with me to not only bulk up, but the learning experience.  They will be fierce competition.  Then, my daughter decided to jump in. She is doing it to transform herself...both physically & mentally. Their decisions to do this with me has given me another goal for this challenge...to help & push them the best I can! To give them what I know to help them succeed...and the best thing about all of this...is I get to spend a lot of quality time with them! They'll also witness their father stop at nothing to show them what dedication, discipline, grit & hard work can achieve. -

Never been a huge fan of posting alot transformation photo's, but I was pretty happy when I mentioned that there was only 1 year (even 5 days less than a year) in between these pictures. Putting on mass on my lower body has always been a challenge for me. (Upperbody is going quite easy.) Thanks to a totally different way of training and better nutrition I was able to make this transformation. Happy to see where I am now and still going strong. @linnlowes -  CALVES. I have to be honest they’re not my favorite muscles to put time on 😆👋
BUT - it’s also a muscle group not to be neglected - known as the “second heart of the body” calves (or the soleus muscle to be more exact) helps the blood flow back to the heart as a pump. Therefor it’s important to keep your calves healthy whether you want to grow them or not.
💎 Here’s 3 of my personal tips!
1. Donkey Calf Raises. This is my favorite for sure! I had this in my latest video also. When you’re performing a standing calf-exercise you’re hitting both soleus and gastrocnemius. Put the bar on your butt rather than your lower back. Make sure to squeeze your calves at the top position, pause 1-2sec if possible! At the end of the set when you’re tired you can do a few reps faster without the pause. 
2. Seated Calf Raises. One seated calf exercise is also important to have in your calf session so why not use the same machine! When seated you’re mainly hitting your soleus muscle. Start with one foot and when you’re super tired use both feet with the same weight and rep to failure. I like to do 12-15-20reps rather than 10 when it comes to calves. 
3. If you don’t want to put any time in calves-only-exercises my tips is to include some calf raises in your other exercises, just a few of them like lunges, squats or jumps! Get up on your toes to involve the calves more. This is also great for balance! Remember to stretch and massage every now and then to maintain a healthy second heart! This is even more important with people who have bad blood circulation (I do!).

Ondertussen heeft ze ook al een heel concept uitgewerkt: wanne go on holiday and come back with een halve sixpack meld je dan nu aan bij: ‘Kar & Lau’s fit holiday reizen’! Waarom met z’n tweeen? Lau zorgt ervoor dat je niet drie x per dag kip te eten krijgt & ik zorg ervoor dat je niet alleen vegetarisch eet. Lijkt me reden genoeg🤷🏻‍♀️ Ohwja en cardio is naast kracht training ook inbegrepen, leuker kunnen we het niet maken, makkelijker ook niet 😝

Ook is Lau iets begripvoller en aardiger, ik hoef niet te horen dat het te warm is voor cardio - die taak neem ik wel op voor je. Laat slapen& maar drie uur slaap? PRIMA, je wekker gaat om 530 uur😆 De ochtenden zijn niet mijn meest vrolijke uurtjes van de dag, gezeur of huilen? Dat doe je maar even stiekem op het toilet. 
Why ga ik mee zul je misschien den-ken? 🧐🤷🏻‍♀️
- Goed met kip - goed met ovens - snijden van fruit gaat me goed af - ik maak je af tijdens de workouts - nogmaals voor de gezelligheid etc moet je bij Lau zijn 😝😂🤣 Kunnen we Garantie geven? Mocht je korter op vakantie willen dan 6 maanden, zal je vetpercentage lager moeten zijn dan 16 voor vrouwen en lager dan 9 voor mannen. Goed lichtinval is ook een pre. 
Wil je net als Lau terugkomen met een halve sixpack maar nog belangrijker: blue monday goed doorkomen en je januari 2018 goal nog starten? Aanmelden maaaaar !
