New Years Resolutions. There are many who criticize it. Especially those in the fitness industry. The ones who only see 🤑💵💰
I, for one, am a big proponent of it. Yes, statistically most will not keep up with them. Yes, it is the “Super Bowl” for trainers and gyms out there. But there is a big opportunity for people to change their lives for the better.
I believe that writing goals down and/or even putting it out there in public will hold you accountable to those goals.
🍽 I have had short term resolutions: Intermittent Fasting for 1 month
🍺 I have had 1 year resolutions: Giving up alcohol for 2014
🥤 I have had long term resolutions: Not drinking soda. Not smoking
👔 I have had the ultimate resolutions: Starting up a business. Telling myself I will open a gym before I’m 30, when I was 18
Resolutions, when done right, can work. Be practical, but aim HIGH. It’s serious. It will take hard work. But it can be done.
Last year my resolutions were to deadlift 500lbs ✅, do my first powerlifting meet ✅, find a retail space in downtown JC ✅, and find an apartment ✅
The key to reaching your resolutions is to start NOW. Everyday should be one day closer to reaching those goals, whether short term or long. Every step helps, now matter how little.
This year, I’m putting my resolutions out there. That way, I’m held accountable and y’all can talk shit if I don’t reach em:
💪 Compete again in powerlifting, set a record in the deadlift, and cut weight at 148 lbs 💀
🥋 Get back into martial arts and volleyball. Start competing again.
🥌 Press a 48 KG (106 lbs) kettlebell strictly over my head
🌴 Travel to Hawaii in the summer (my only vacation of the year 😭)
📊 Other business goals that I will not mention right now 🤫
Doin’ all the lunges and single leg work this month because I needed some time off from deadlifts and heavy squats.
A few weeks in and I’m feeling SO much better.
Two things here. First, listen to your body! Second, communicate with your coach if something hasn’t been feeling good.
The @coachmikeperry for the win ... again. 🆘👌
Its moments like this that are absoutely priceless ❤️❤️❤️. I can remember when my family were little like this and being a fulltime working mum. My kiddies would often be dragged to meetings, events (although not too many complaints there), or have to hang out in my office (that hasnt changed much either 🙄).. but I was often focused on whatever I was doing at the time (work/study/business) that I would sometimes forget who I was doing it for... But Im learning.... #balance#family#director#gymowner#dayoff#relaxingtime#blackandwhitephoto#grateful
