It’s hard not to get captivated by the mystique and romance of the samurai era and the history of this country. #hakoneshrine was established in 757 AD for the purpose of praying to Mt Koyama. The high peaks of Hakone have been worshipped for thousands of years as a place where the souls of the dead would go to travel to the next world. The shrine has been visited for centuries by samurai and shogun alike. #samurai#japan
Lake Ashi, Hakone 🇯🇵 .
We arrived at the lake early in the morning (aka that’s 9:30 am for me), and had both the shrine and the lake all to ourselves. There’s a path that borders the lake from this point all the way to the tori gate, which marks the entrance to the shrine which is hidden in the trees. What we did not get to ourselves was Mount Fuji! 🗻 Funnily enough that’s one of the reasons we picked Hakone... It progressively got more and more overcast and we only managed to glimpse a bit once we got on the cable car. You win some, you lose some! .
Hope you are all having a good start to the year so far! I already feel like there just won’t be enough time this year for everything I’d like to do. Also Eurostar is currently offering 29£ tickets, so I’ve just convinced myself I need a weekend trip to Brussels 😜
Paid a visit to a few of Japan's famous shrines. Each very beautiful on their own. Feeling very thankful to be able to see all these with my very own eyes :) And also very thankful to my travel buddies for all the effort for bringing us around! ♡♡ @yesitsmeman @kentsensei
