In my defence a fair deal of peer pressure was involved... And then a challenge gauntlet was thrown... Which I accepted because I'm not one to turn down a challenge! 🤦♀️😄
The issue (however) is that I have no upper body strength... There's nothing there... I can't pull up or hold my body weight... You know so I can do monkey bars and rope climbs which seemed standard on these events! 🤦♀️😂
So after a lovely evening run I put myself to work in the gym and attacked the weights! Then tried the pull up machine to do chin ups... I managed five reps! Oh dear - Room for improvement then! 😂

Ran 16 kilometre... could have done 20 but got shoe bite because of my new @asicseurope running shoes(they are lovely).
For those concerned about my knee injury, it’s nothing serious. A chunk of skin has peeled off hence I cannot leave the injured portion open. But it doesn’t affect my movement at all. I hope it heals soon as I am set to take part in @spartanarabia in 20 days . #dubai30x30

After the last week of work (which my coworker and I decided in the appropriately dramatic manner was cursed) I needed a nice restorative run outside. It was absolutely gorgeous out. I was a little warm in my Vic marathon jacket but one, I could not deal with the thought of initially being chilly, and two, it's my Vic marathon jacket so it's a wonder I ever take it off 😏. A little over 12k and it felt great just running for however long I wanted at the pace I wanted. I won't lie... I've already got my sight set on another marathon but for now I am gonna enjoy concentrating on upping my weight-lifting game and running in whatever manner I please. Forget post-marathon blues, this is post-marathon bliss 😊.
So today I went a little bit out of my comfort zone and did a couple upperbody workouts that I've never done before or haven't tried in forever and turned my arms to jello. After getting home I decided I couldn't waste a beautiful running day so I ran a few miles. There was something empowering and addicting about doing something new but I also felt that strength and joy in my run. My body can do amazing things. The moment when you want to quit, is the moment when you need to keep pushing.
I had an awful run on Saturday and the funny thing was that it really wasn't an awful run. I had no pain, the early morning weather was beautiful, and yet all I wanted to do was cry in frustration. I just wasn't feeling it, I didn't want to do it anymore. But I kept going all 12.6 miles, finished strong and then I let myself take a day off yesterday. Today I woke up so grateful and excited to know that tonight I get to run! Sometimes you can only push so far then you need to listen to your body and let it heal for the next run!
