#harleydavidson this is Lex DuPont in 1949 when he was 21 years old riding a 1917 Harley Davidson during the later re-creation of the So called Glidden Tour reliability runs done originally between 1902 through 1913 in an effort to promote public awareness for the need for safer roads. This tour was the successor to the 1946 revival.
Hwy 550 in SW CO is a rowdy road... so many unique avalanche paths to contend with; a real forecasting challenge. The Eagle/Telescope group is among the more infamous. These bikers are moving on after the CDOT crew punched a lane through successful mitigation debris. #whiteroom#avalanche#boomboom#harleydavidson
Why do I ride? I was asked that question a couple days ago and the answer I had was this.. when I ride, I am free. When I ride I am not thinking about the struggles in my life. I don't think about people who have hurt me. It's a better form of anger management than any doctor or group could ever provide. I am not surrounded by glass and steel, drywall and wood, or concrete and iron. I am surrounded by nature, by the wind, the elements. Watching the road under my feet, wind in my face, and nothing holding me in at 60 miles an hour....it's an amazing feeling. My worries melt away, my mistakes dont haunt me, and the drama of life is behind me. It's in my blood, my DNA, my soul. The moment I hit the button, the engine turns over, and the pipes roar to life, the ground shaking, its a feeling that I cannot put into words. So again, why do I ride? Because When I ride, I am free.
