Chakra Enlightening: An Interview With Veda Yoga Teacher, Margaret Doyle.
Ever wanted to learn more about the chakras from a practicing yogi?
There are many levels that we function on. Modern science has discovered almost all that there is to know about how the food gets digested and absorbed how the oxygen is transported to every cell in the body, how wastes get taken away etc etc. But the yogis of old knew of a vast subtle energy system that is separate from but works in with all the other systems of the body.
The energy travelling in this system is known as prana and it is said to travel throughout the body in subtle channels or nadis. Chakras are places where there are cluster of these nadis.
The yogic texts inform us that the living entity residing within the body is covered by different layers of matter – earth, water, fire, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego and each of main chakras is an embodiment of one of these layers of matter. These chakras are located proximal to the spine from the base of the torso up to the crown of the head. While most of the chakras are active to some degree, our consciousness or what our interests are influences which particular chakras are the more active.
For example when the first 3 chakras are more active our concerns are more limited to a bodily level whereas as the energy rises to the more subtle chakras of ether, mind, intelligence and false ego our consciousness tends to gravitate more to the more subtle levels of compassion, love and spirituality. Looking for a unique hiking experience? The Ko'olau is not your typical mountain range, rather it is the eroded remains of a massive shield volcano that began erupting an estimated 2.5 million years ago. There are many trails, some starting in the back of the valleys and some start on top of the communities that live up on ridges coming down from the summit. There are a few well maintained popular trails, but in terms of numbers most of the trails are highly overgrown, narrow, eroded, steep and difficult. Hiking these trails is a totally different experience than hiking anywhere else. ⛰
Manana Ridge Trail to Ko'olau Summit.
Length: 11.6 miles round trip.
The moment I Popped my head in this pillbox I knew that this was going to be one hell of an edit. Had alot of fun messing around with the RAW though.
Its time for a #goldenagehistory : The Ka’iwa Ridge Trail, also known as the Lanikai Pillbox Trail, functioned as Coast Artillery observation stations in 1943 and were not equipped with defensive armament. The raised concrete platforms found in the stations did not mount machine guns but high-powered observing instruments to fix a maritime vessel’s position from the station. In military terms, a pillbox actually means a defensive site such as a machine gun pillbox, which is not the case here. Sometime after WWII, the military sold the ridge to a private individual, and then it was subsequently resold one or perhaps two more times to private individuals until the late 1980’s. The last private owner submitted plans to build a house on the site and drill a hole through the rocks to provide ventilation for the house. Around this time the State was promoting it’s Na Ala Hele trail system, and the Lanikai Association proposed the State buy the property, since it was an historic site and was already a well-publicized trail. The State then incorporated the trail into their trail system with two public easements to the top.
