The shortened history of a dress... #1beautifulthing
When i bought this 100% polyester 1960s dress about 10 years ago, i tucked it away in the back of the closet or in boxes for years. It was floor length, thick polyester - too stunning for any event I could imagine... Too standout-ish for Minnesota in general... Too thick of polyester for just any weather at that length. Thank goddess polyester does not easily deteriorate from indecision, neglect and introvert frustration. I finally decided that i needed to make it usable by making it a dress i could wear while riding my bike. I chopped it off around the knee... And then left it as such for probably 2 years before i got around to hemming the new length by hand. I then discovered that i still forgot to wear it on days off from the library in the summer... So it has hung on a hanger during the summers for probably 4-5 years - maybe worn once a year if it all. Suddenly I have decided to wear it twice in a 7 day period. I have always loved the combination of forest green, deep blue and hazard yellow and orange. The neckline is my favorite feature... A halter shape that at one time stressed me out about finding a bra to go with it until i decided this summer... It needs no bra at all. I've been out in it all day and just waiting for things to cool down a minute before taking it on one of its few bike rides. Hopefully you'll see me coming a mile away.
