I switched up my regular heavy metal detox smoothie this morning for wild blueberry "cereal" with banana mylk. It was so good. I will be doing this more often.

For the banana mylk just blend frozen bananas with some water or coconut water. I used a fresh banana for this one because the blueberries were cold and I wanted them to defrost anyway.

Leftover ground beef in gf pan gravy. We are officially out of rice (I HAVE to get to the store soon😂) so I decided to roast some frozen cauliflower with EVOO salt and pepper. Set oven on 450 and cook for 30-40 minutes, depending on how done you like it. And a big cup of ice water in my Thrasher’s cup. @kapuaokala Here is the post for the bbq sauce I tried out. Be careful with your mustard to make sure it doesn’t have nightshades (paprika is pretty common in mustard). This is my take on a recipe from https://horsecowmeow.com/meatballs-and-bbq-sauce/ 😉. -Ingredients -1 cup yellow mustard or mustard of choice (paprika free)
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup honey
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp pink Himalayan salt -  Instructions-
Add the ingredients for the BBQ sauce into a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. So what the heck did I use instead, you ask? Cauliflower! Saw @expansivenutrition do that and was like YES!!! Can't do legumes on a candida cleanse so this is phenomenal for me. I simply steamed a small head of cauli and tossed it in the food processor with lemon, tahini, garlic, water, cumin, pink Himalayan salt and a drizzle of cold pressed olive oil. Topped it with a bit more  oil and some paprika. How cool is that?!? So many people have a hard time digesting pulses so this is a cool alternative.

As a side note, I'm on day 9 of this cleanse and yesterday was the hardest by far. Started my anti-candida supplements on Sunday and by yesterday, I could tell my body was fighting this thing HARD. My tongue is covered with thrush (which I don't normally have), I'm fighting headaches, and my mood is shit. These little f*ckers are no joke!

Despite the extraordinarily high fructose content of this diet (about 200 grams per day, or the amount in 8 cans of soda), the investigators reported no adverse effects (and possible benefit actually) for body weight, blood pressure, insulin, and lipid levels after three to six months.

More recently, Jenkins and colleagues put people on a 20 servings of fruit a day diet for a few weeks with no adverse effects on weight, blood pressure, or triglycerides and an astounding 38 point drop in LDL cholesterol.

There was one side effect, though. Their bathroom habits became very regular.

So what’s the bottom line?

I spiralised a courgette; steamed and cooled some garden peas; blended 4 tomatoes, a whole bell pepper, a bunch of cilantro, 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks, pinch of smoked paprika and 1/2 tsp salt. Then I just mixed them all together. My salt intake is down to just 1 tsp per day, which is a huge achievement for me. Also, this is day 10 of oil free.

I had some brussels prepped (I don't prep full meals.. a mix & match of veggies & dips are all I make to then quickly cook up with something else, like eggs) 👩🏼‍🍳 then I chucked them in a frying pan with asparagus, mushrooms & zucchini, sautéed in some water, all the seasonings & a splash of tamari 👌 VEGGIES DON'T NEED TO BE "BORING". get creative!

once they were done, I added the spinach until wilted 🍃 then finished by frying the eggs.

My love-story with rye bread, avo, tomato and spinach continues and it’s just the best with a sprinkling of dried chilli and lemon juice 🍋🥑 I had a checkup on all my vitamins levels and the doctor asked me to up my iron intake a bit - probably because (not so) little baby is taking everything he needs, and that is a LOT!! 🌿🦖 So vitamin c taken together with iron-rich foods (like spinach or kale) helps the absorption, which is why I am also having a glorious glass of orange juice 🍊🍊🍊 Going for other iron sources, like molasses, quinoa, broccoli and pumpkin seeds - to name a few at random! I don’t like to rely on supplements as you know but I am still going for my @gardenoflife #prenatal vitamins that provide everything, including vitamin D and B12, that we need to keep an eye on when on a plant-based diet 🍠🥕🌶🥥🍐

Managed 24 lengths in the pool this morning. I think of everything to do with both knee replacements, the thing that will affect me the most is being unable to swim.
9 days binge free. Today is day 20. Surprisingly, I am actually thinking about food a lot less. Knowing that it is all planned out for the day ahead has taken away a lot of the obsessive thoughts and anxiety about what I should eat.
Breakfast is a simple bowl of 1/2 cup jumbo oats with cinnamon, cooked with a cup of frozen strawberries.

Today I was Pinterest inspired to make butternut squash “noodles” for dinner. 🥄🥄Spoonies, about 1/2 way through spralizing, I did have to have my 18 year old help me.  My hands flare and I have zero upper body strength.  He is a spoonie too, so he is very empathetic. Then I heated up some amazing Beef, Bacon and jalapeño meatballs that I made last week. (I always have meatballs on hand). The first bowl was mine.  The last bowl was one of two my 18 year old chowed down. I ate 4 meatballs and he ate the rest.  Lol.  Although it was more difficult, I really liked the butternut noodles over zucchini for pasta.  They baked for an al dente texture. So my most recent disappointment was finding out I have to eliminate nightshades. Most people have no idea what a nightshade vegetable even is. Well friends, it’s tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, all peppers, and anything that includes any of the above. You lose A TON of spices and condiments when you go nightshade free. No paprika, no red chili flakes, no Mexican seasoning, nothing that just says “and spices”, cayenne powder, chili powder...you see why I’m disappointed, right? Here is the interesting part. Ever since I stopped being able to have ketchup, bbq sauce or A1 sauce, beef and pork haven’t tasted the same. To the point where I’m thinking I’ll eliminate it for awhile. Makes me wonder if it’s just a change in my tastebuds or if I never really would have preferred it in the first place? Now, I still like steak. It still tastes good when seasoned and cooked right. 🤤 But back to nightshades. First off, nightshades cause me to have increased inflammation. They also started giving me a crazy rash that wouldn’t go away. For over 6 months, I tried yeast creams, steroid creams, jock itch cream and also powder...nothing worked. It was under my breast and also in the crease of my leg/pelvic area. It burned and itched. It was awful. I stopp eating nightshades and it was gone within a week and a half. 😳🙌🏼 I went back a few weeks later and had ketchup...it came right back with itching starting about 30 minutes after eating. It’s crazy to think my favorite veggies were causing all this. And it could just be that my gut is such a mess that for now I need to avoid these things. But trust me, it’s worth it. I have only bought an eggplant once before. 🍆And I think I just fried it up with other veggies and I really couldn't even taste it. But I have socks that have eggplants on them so ya know, I should probably eat them as regularly as I wear my eggplant socks. I made a simple baba ganouch and I had no idea what to expect. But I can now tell YOU what to expect! Expect this to be your new favorite veggie dip, salad dressing, Buddha bowl sauce, and everything else. 
I had screenshotted  a recipe a couple months ago (back when I bought the socks😂) so I don't know where it came from but here is what I did...

Roasted a whole eggplant on a pan with parchment paper at 350°F for 45 minutes. No oil or anything fancy, I didn't even cut it. Just a quick wash and dry!

After it is done and cool to the touch I peeled the skin off and added the whole eggplant to the blender along with:

3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp Tahini
1 lime juiced
Cheyenne pepper
Salt
.
Blend until smooth. Store in fridge!

I’m really going all out right now by sharing my weight. My biggest fear has always been someone knowing how much I weigh. Honestly I’m not sure why. Like what’s the worst that could happen?? You think I’m fat?! 😂 Yeah, me too. 😉 Because I am, and well that number changes nothing. I’m still ME. ☺️ So those of you who really know me know that prior to all of this crap I deal with, I was in the gym like crazy. I meal prepped. I took supplements. But nothing changed. Fast forward to Jan 2015. I started following a zero carb, meat/egg/cheese diet and I started losing. I went from 280 to 255. I was 255 the day they removed the first half of my thyroid. Fast forward to Jan 19th, 2017...I weighed in at 291. I was miserable. And angry at my body. I managed to lose 10lbs between then and September but it was SO difficult. I’ve lost 12 more pounds since September after eliminating nightshades, dairy and eggs. That was without effort, just from removing them (another post for why). See, without my thyroid, nothing has been the same. Add in fibromyalgia, Hashimoto’s and PCOS...yeah, talk about a struggle. It feels like every odd is against me. But I never give up. I keep readjusting my plan. I continue to research. I continue to be my biggest advocate at every dr appt. I read...A LOT. I can’t exercise yet because, oh I forgot to mention...I have coronary heart disease. I had a stent put in my main artery in September and because recently I’ve had pain, I’m not allowed to exercise until they run tests. Anyway, this is just the medical stuff. Today is far from “Day 1”, but it is officially Day 1 of being more open and honest about my journey. I’ve always felt like I was too afraid to share my journey...fear of others opinions basically. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. But recently I realized my personal page has a following of almost 1000 people. And at least half follow me because of food/diet and health. So that made me decide to try this page...dedicated to that side of my life, because honestly my life revolves around my health. I soaked 1 cup of @pranabio almonds in water overnight. After draining them, I added them to 4 cups of water and simply fed that to my juicer. To get more bang for my buck, I purposely leave some water in my jar as I juice my whole almonds (about 1 of the 4 cups), mix it to the almond pulp generated by the juicer, and have a second go at it. Makes for an extra creamy milk. I then bake the pulp in the oven for about 20 minutes at 350C to make little salad toppers. It's lovely sprinkled with cinnamon. Almond milk is candida and elimination diets friendly!

Today was a real victory for my OA meal plan. At 12.30 we were walking through the hospital after an appointment and The Texan Spouse said “I’m hungry”. Normally we would have stopped at a nice cafe they have there or at best called in at the M & S outlet for sandwiches and crisps. I didn’t feel a bit tempted because I knew what I had planned for lunch so we came home and I cooked this Buddha Bowl:
• potatoes mashed in their cooking water • steamed cavolo nero • brussel sprouts water sautéed with onions, red bell pepper, chestnuts and balsamic vinegar • the remaining half can of red kidney beans from yesterday •

My absolute favourite green juice just isn't as nice made with the nutribullet. I really miss my cold pressed juicer. (Broken) if anyone has any recommendations for a good brand to buy it would be appreciated. 🤗

What a difference physical exercise makes to my spirits. I swam (20 lengths no problem after yesterday’s feebleness) and driving home the sky was bright blue. Very cold but no sign of rain. So I took the doggies out for a 40 minute stroll. That’s why I dove @theholttwins and @michaelgreger so much because they emphasise the importance of nutrition and movement.

~ (swipe 👉🏽) I have been dealing with eczema since I was three years old. Using all different types of steroid creams only making my condition worse. I was placed in sun therapy and I was given liquids to bathe in and nothing seemed to help. Doctor after doctor told me that this was a condition I had to live with for the rest of my life, and no one even considered changing my diet. My mother took me to a holistic doctor and he told my mother that I should stay away from meat and dairy products, and my mother did not eat meat and dairy herself so she started giving me more of her food. But being young I wanted to eat like the other kids and didn’t understand the link between diet and health. So I continued to eat what I wanted and to keep my Eczema in check I would use steroids and moisturizers. I really thought that this was my life. About 3 years ago I started digging deeper into this, becoming more aware of myself and the lifestyle I had. I stoped using the creams and started cutting things out of my diet, started to practice yoga and meditation and things were getting better. Last year I had a breakout from hell, went to the hospital and they tried to give me steroids once again. I felt helpless, but I managed to calm my mind and breathe through it. I told myself that this was the last time I ended up there. A couple months later I came across @medicalmedium and I was sold! I am still learning to deal with my destructive habits and ever since I became vegan during my pregnancy, I feel so light and greater then ever. Staring my day with coconut water or celery juice has been a life saver! I am so grateful for all that is, right now at this moment, I am healing. ~

So I continued to eat what I wanted and to keep my Eczema in check I would use steroids and moisturizers. I really thought that this was my life. About 3 years ago I started digging deeper into this, becoming more aware of myself and the lifestyle I had. I stoped using the creams and started cutting things out of my diet, started to practice yoga and meditation and things were getting better. Last year I had a breakout from hell, went to the hospital and they tried to give me steroids once again. I felt helpless, but I managed to calm my mind and breathe through it. I told myself that this was the last time I ended up there. A couple months later I came across @medicalmedium and I was sold! I am still learning to deal with my destructive habits and ever since I became vegan during my pregnancy, I feel so light and greater then ever. Staring my day with coconut water or celery juice has been a life saver!
