HOW WOMEN CAN BUILD MUSCLE

Not all women want to be tiny and skinny.  Some women want to build muscle and get stronger.

There’s a simple formula to build muscle: WEIGHTS + CALORIES + PROTEIN + SLEEP + SUPPLEMENTS = MUSCLE GAIN (although, you can build muscle without supplements, they will definitely help optimize your muscle growth.

Lift Weights.  Train each body part 2-4 times per week.  Higher frequency builds muscle.  Upper lower splits and full body workouts are your friend if you are a natural lifter.

Caloric Surplus and Protein. You build muscle brick by brick. In order for your body to CREATE MUSCLE TISSUE, it’s no different than building a brick wall.  You need the bricks (Calories and protein), and you need to put in work to lay down those bricks (the workouts). If you don’t have enough Calories, you don’t have any bricks to lay.

Sleep helps your body recover and repair, as well as optimizes your hormones. Get enough of it!

Supplements. You can’t go wrong with good old-fashioned creatine monohydrate (5g per day).

And remember, the King's Landing wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your body.  You need to have PATIENCE!

The days are getting cold and dreary. In the past, now is just about the time where a dark cloud would loom over my head, longing for the sun to lift it.

I was never diagnosed with Seasonal Affective  Disorder, but dark days, whether during the summer or winter, had always taken a toll on me.

When the sun was hiding, that’s exactly where I would want to be too- hiding away from the day. With the clouds came a lack of motivation, fewer smiles, and low energy.

I never knew what to do with those feelings except count down the hours till the end of the day and pray for the sun the next day. .

Now, I still don’t feel the same as when the sun is shining. However, I can take those feelings and sweat them out. Exercise and the endorphins it brings, helps me tremendously. The weight of the darkness is lifted from just 30 minutes of exercise.

For me, exercising isn’t just about looking good. It’s about FEELING better. That’s why I workout. I need the happiness and energy it brings. .

What do you fear? Many of us, myself included, fear failure. We are afraid of giving 100% and falling short. For so long I could get by on my natural abilities in school, sports, or just life. I was ok giving less than 100% because I still did good, but it meant I could never be GREAT. That was ok, though, because if I did fail, I did so knowing I didn’t give it my all so that somehow made it alright. NO MORE. Fitness has transformed my work ethic and not giving 100% is no longer an option. Fear of failure is ok — and so is the act of failing. We are going to get knocked down but that is what makes us grow. Muscle must be torn apart to be built. Our only failure is in not trying.

The scale hasn’t changed that much for me. I’m always around 140lbs. It’s pictures that really let me know how my body is improving. My core is stronger but it’s really the eating healthy part that has brought out these lines. I do 3 different ab exercises a day for 3 sets. I believe in having a strong core not just to have abs but for balance and being able to lift heavy/properly. Can’t wait to show my tricep and quad gains! I’m working to get them cuts 💪Working out does the body and mind good. At first you won’t see visible changes but you will definitely feel better overall! I complain sometimes because I don’t see changes. However, with consistency, hard work and patience the body you want will come together. Work for what you want. Don’t stop yourself from being great ❤️

Today I started Week 2 of my current workout program! It feels good to be consistent again, but to be honest I still have to force myself to work out. It's not something I can't wait to do at the end of a long day. Today I had conferences after work, then I had a team call the second I got home, and I was SO close to putting on sweats immediately after. But my goals aren't going to accomplish themselves and I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. 👊🏻 So I pushed play for 35 minutes, and now I get to relax with my hubby before he leaves to go hunting in the morning.

Briefly on the topic of friendships: I have such a wildly deep appreciation for the people I like to refer to as my 🌵Cactus Friends—the ones who don’t need watering. I’m not the most social of people, and I need a LOT of time on my own to recharge. I struggle being in crowds or big groups, avoid parties, and just tend to prioritize 1-on-1 time more so than group activities. My closest friends are the ones who understand and accept this about me, and don’t take offence if I don’t surface for a while. It’s taken me a long time to even get to a place where I could accept this part of myself without feeling the need to aggressively defend it or justify it, and having people who get it and allow me to be me just feels, well pretty damn good. I’ll just go ahead and say it: your vibe attracts your tribe yo, and actively building the tribe that makes you feel good, supports you, builds you up, is one of the most rewarding presents I think you could give yourself ✨

Almond Crusted Chicken!
• Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to eat boring foods! It just means you tweak the ingredients of your favorite dish to make it healthier!
CRUST FOR CHICKEN:
• In a food processor combine 1 cup raw almonds. 1/2 teaspoon of the following: paprika, thyme, garlic powder, dried chives, dried parsley, Himalayan salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Blend all together until mixture becomes crumbles, then pour into a large bowl.
• Place 2 cups of coconut flour into a large bowl.
• Crack 4 eggs into a bowl and whisk.
• Step 1. Coat chicken in coconut flour then shake any excess off.
• Step 2. Coat chicken in egg wash
• Step 3. Coat chicken in the almond mixture.
• Spray glass baking dish with EVOO and then place chicken in dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-45 or until chicken is cooked all the way through.

I scheduled time every week to do my meal prep. I didn't make excuses, I made time! If you can spend 5 hours a week netflix and chillin....well guess what??
