I coooked my lima beans in the crock pot last night to be used in my Italian sausage soup.
So, that's 2 meals!
My son made a memory (read:mess) tearing that pumpkin apart.
Dad helped make pumpkin seeds for snacks.
I will use the pumpkin insides for yummy fall soup that I use for breakfasts!
Well, the sickness finally hit mama and it’s been a TOUGH weekend but luckily I’m feeling so much better today. Bakers gotta bake (not me, Nels). This morning we have warm peach muffins with oatmeal and wheat germ (we have a big jar and we don’t know what to do with it so he threw some into the muffins and it’s quite a nice addition!). Homemade muffins are guaranteed to be made with REAL ingredients and are not supersized like the store bought ones AND less convenient, so you won’t be eating them very often!

The heavy rain has made our garden flourish! I added so many fresh herbs into our side salad for dinner tonight. Mint, rosemary, coriander, lettuce, thyme and basil. Fresh herbs make a delicious difference. Thank you rain! 🙌
And then...She discovered THE SKIPPING ROPE! Little Miss was clocking up to 150 jumps just this afternoon. Being exposed to many different sports, their bodies are ‘cross training’. It’s makes it much easier to learn even more new things! The success begins sooner and it makes activities more enjoyable. It’s the same for Adults!!! I was pretty impressed with my first attempt at a cauliflower crust pizza! The burnt bits around the edges occurred because I left the house whilst cooking it. 🙊
Next time I'll use more toppings. -half a cauliflower, pulsed in to fine pieces, sprinkled with salt, pepper and basil and roasted for 15 minutes at 220C.
VERY IMPORTANT- place cauliflower in muslin or a tea towel and wrap up and squeeze all the water out of the cauliflower.
Then mix in a bowl with
-🧀half a cup of cheese ( I used Parmesan and mozzarella)
Make this in to the dough and spread on tray and cook for 15 minutes.
It's then ready for toppings and back in the oven to brown!

One of my kids’ favourite ways to eat more 🌱V E G G I E S🌱 is to add them to waffles, pancakes and French toast. Some of the best ones to try are puréed beetroot, pumpkin, sweet potato or butternut squash or grated zucchini or carrots. To add even more servings of vegetables, I usually serve these with a green smoothie packed with spinach or kale.⠀
🌱Don’t worry about finding a specific recipe including one of those veggies, just add it to the recipe you are already using. And if the recipe you are using has refined sugar in it just switch it out for some pure maple syrup or honey (raw and local if you can) to make it even better for you.⠀

Going back to the basics and covering the top 10 oils in the next couple of days. Starting with the oh so lovely lavender. Did you know it takes 35 pounds of lavender flowers to produce just one 15 ML bottle of lavender essential oil? Lavender is one of the most used oils in our home on an every day basis. ...............................................................
It calms, relaxes, promotes peaceful sleep and eases feelings of tension. When applied topically, lavender is frequently used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. Lavender is wonderful to soothe irritating razor burn or if you’ve had a little bit too much sun exposure. Add to bathwater to soak away stress or apply to the temples and the back of the neck. .................................................................
You can add a few drops to pillows, bedding or bottoms of feet to relax and prepare for a restful night sleep. Lavender is wonderful to use in cooking to soften citrus flavors and add a flavorful twist to marinades, baked goods, and desserts. Lavender makes a great air purifier. Just add a few drops of oil into a spray bottle with water and spritz areas that need freshening up. ...........................................................
As a floral, calming oil, lavender oil blends well with bright, citrus oil’s like bergamot or citrus bliss. The light aroma of lavender oil also makes a good companion to herbaceous oils like marjoram or basil.

Who loves granola? I know I do. But many store brought ones are unfortunately filled with refined sugars, emulsifiers and/or additives, especially the gluten free ones.
Oates are a great source of dietary fibre, protein, zinc, magnesium and vitamin B1. They are themselves gluten free but are generally cross contaminated with wheat products in farming or production, so you need to make sure you buy gluten free oats if you can't have any gluten products.
Home made granola is so easy to make and so yummy. Simply mix whatever dry ingredients you like in yours in a bowl and add some melted honey and coconut oil. Then spread on a baking tray and toast for 10-20 mins (depending how crunchy you like it) at 180c (stir after 5-7 mins to cook evenly). And keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn!
This one has oats, cranberries, shredded coconut, pepitas, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, cashews, almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg, himalayan salt, pure honey and coconut oil. Would usually add sultanas too!
Serve with your favourite nut milk or rice milk and fruit or enjoy on a smoothie bowl for a nutritious breakfast 😋
