Everywhere I look, all I see is diet this, 80 day fix, or 21 day cleanse that ✖️🙈... January always opens my eyes to just how LOUD all of these overly restrictive, temporary, fab diets really are 😧. Well, let me help to quiet some of that noise.. If you’re restricting your diet of certain foods, such as gluten, dairy, animal products, etc., no matter what ‘diet’ you’re on, make sure you're doing it in a healthy way & it makes sense to YOU - one that emphasizes eating high quality, whole foods, aligns with your personal values + health, & is a lifestyle approach. I personally eat predominately plant-based but never restrict myself. I listen to what my body is craving & enjoy having seafood, poultry, eggs & dairy a few times a week... plus throw in the occasional slice of 🍕 or 🍦 b/c duh, its amazing. 😛 The beautiful thing is, there's no all or nothing. Stretching is just as important as working those muscles, so we make sure to add in specific plates and stretch sessions on our retreats. This one's great for the quads and hip flexors.
There's no point in working your muscles so hard that they have no flexibility! And that goes for the pelvic floor muscles too! All together now... And BREATHE...

This place will always have a very special place in my heart because it’s where I’ve done so much healing as a student and also where I’ve helped facilitate that same healing as a teacher. This photo was taken three years ago in the middle of my divorce when I had no idea what my future looked or felt like. All that I knew was that I was deeply unhappy and had to make some major changes in my life. I also remember being in awe of my teacher and thinking how blessed she was to do what she loved but also to have the opportunity to teach in paradise. At that time leading my own retreats seemed like a complete fantasy however, I am currently preparing to host my second retreat in Tulum this week! I felt the need to share this tonight because whatever you want is possible if you’re willing to put the work in. If you’re truly willing to do the work, make the sacrifices and remove the fear and excuses, anything can be yours.

When I'm on holiday its usually hard to find food or find time to go get food. That's why my family and I get fruit, veggies and salad ingredients so that at the start of the week we cut up all of the food and we put it into containers so that if we go on a day trip we have everything ready and its a way cheaper and easier way to get lunch and snacks. Happy Monday! Start the week right with a delicious and nutritious smoothie. They might be a hassle, but you can double your amounts and it'll last you for at least another day in the fridge too.
This green lovely has:
Browning banana (great way to use these up)
1tsp Maca powder
1tsp Protein powder
1tsp Supergreen powder
Cold water to thin
Whizz it all up and away you go.
Apart from making sure you get some protein in there, you can play around with quantities to your taste. Don't worry about 'getting it right'. Perfect for tired parent brains!
This guy looks like he’s a Vata/Kapha.. or maybe a Pitta/Vata?! Err. When it comes to Ayurveda your Dosha type is very important, this constitutes your character and physique and from this Drs can assess and treat you accordingly. There are three Dosha types, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. In a nutshell Vatas are creative, slender and anxious, Pittas are medium physique, competitive and passionate and Kaphas are heavier built, loving & Easy-Going. There’s more too it than that but gives you an idea. One will be your dominant Dosha and the other two you will have elements of, this is the character you are born with. Apparently I'm 70% Vata, 25% Kapha & 10% Pitta, who knew?! When your unique Dosha is out of balance then shit starts to hit the fan, so it’s good to get an understanding what your body type needs. Some really simple ways to keep your Doshas happy and balanced is through regular mealtimes, listening to your body and appetite, cutting back on processed foods if you have digestion trouble, taking even 5 or 10 minutes to meditate and most importantly doing things that make you happy. Its all quite interesting really, and seems to make common sense that everyone is different so has different needs, like matey above.. I wonder what would make him well happy..? Our favourite place to unwind on a Sunday! Rest and recovery can be so healing for the body. As humans we tend to push ourselves to the max, whether it be in work or fitness, until the point of burning out! So make sure you look after yourself and take those moments to pause and replenish... your body will thank you for it 🙏🏻

Everyday life makes it tough, so if you want a kick-start back to owning your own body, our retreats are an excellent place to start. We teach safe and effective fitness for postnatal mums, building up strength for not-so-new mums and, YES, we do push fit mums and dads too!
And some tips for fitness en famille?
- SWAP: half and hour for you, half an hour for him, whilst the other has the bub(s)
- CHILD FRIENDLY CLASSES: like our own Friday fitness in Herts.
- TOGETHER: use bub as extra weight in the sling on a walk, lie them on the mat next to you for HIIT or yoga.
- TEAM: if they're old enough, they can join in! Toddlers love 'dancing' along to workouts or copying yoga. Just make sure you have a good play list to keep them interested!

Will the REAL cinnamon please stand up?🙍🏻♀️🙍🏻♀️🙍🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ If you've been following along on my Reboot smoothie challenge, you know I add cinnamon to just about everything & use it everyday👌🏻 not only for added flavor but for a rich source of antioxidants, blood sugar control, vitamins & minerals! However, not all varieties of cinnamon are the same 🤔. Here’s what studies show: there are 4 different species of cinnamomum trees & some studies have raised concerns about 1 variety b/c of a compound called coumarin. Data suggests coumarin may be toxic to the liver & it’s been banned as a food additive, but still can be found naturally in Chinese cinnamon, also known as Cassia cinnamon. Its however not found in significant amounts in so-called "real" cinnamon, or Ceylon cinnamon🤸🏻♀️✨ Keep in mind, that this is only of concern for people going out of their way to add a tsp. or more daily (like myself 🙋🏻♀️) to their diet, have any sensitivity, or those with liver disease. So, if you’re eating cinnamon everyday like me 😬 - & ideally we all should be as its shown so health promoting (anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, blood glucose lowering, cholesterol-lowering, & immune boosting) - just make sure it’s that realll kind, Ceylon cinnamon 💯👊🏻. #RootsReboot#RebootAndTurnip
