Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year – but what I don’t love are the additives and chemicals in today’s most popular candies. Have you ever reallllly looked at the ingredient list of some of your favorite candies like Skittles, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and M&Ms?

We all have different learning styles and preferences, I realize this every day as I #homeschool my kids. 📚 They are each very different from the other.

some want to sit, some want to listen to music🎷🎸🎹, some want to get it all done and then go play, others are asking for a break every 10 minutes.
While they are all different some of their needs are the same. They need to be in a learning environment. I want them to enjoy learning... they need exercise,🏃 rest, and BALANCE for the inside of their bodies too.
Yes! kids struggle with this, when their body is fighting to keep them going they end up with nothing left for #brain

You know I love a good Challenge!!! Last holiday season (2017), I set a workout goal. It was fun, and I was proud of myself & my friends for setting a goal and crushing it during the holidays. I loved it. So this year, I'm challenging myself & my friends to 5️⃣0️⃣ workouts before 2018! Today was #1 ! It will be tough. There will be days we don't want to. But I know we CAN do it! It'll be so fun to look back and say, "I did it!". Because we can. Let's go! That's what I gained during the holiday season last year!
I was doing great keeping up with my workouts and focusing on my nutrition, but I let my guard down during the holidays, specifically between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and ended up with an extra 10 pounds to lose! It wasn't even the weight that was the worst part, but the fact that I had gone back to feeling miserable with no energy anymore... No amount of turkey and dressing or pie is worth that kind of toll on your health!
I lost the weight again... but it took hard work, and I was so disappointed in myself for letting all my hard work from before go to waste.
Not this year! I don't want my New Year's resolution to be to lose the 10 pounds I gained between Thanksgiving and Christmas again!
Who's with me?! I have a Challenge Group starting October 30 to go through the end of the year so we can work together to prevent that unwanted weight gain!
A potluck here, some Halloween candy there, oh and those cookie exchanges too. It all adds up and then come January 1st, we're disappointed in ourselves and making resolutions we may or may not keep.
In the Healthy Holiday challenge, I'll show you how I learned to enjoy all of our seasonal favorites without gaining that extra weight. We'll be following a fitness routine, nutrition plan that also includes a dense superfood shake and of course, supporting each other and staying accountable in a private group.

Eating out in Lisbon -is simply fantastic! You’ve got such a wide variety of choices from local and traditional to vegan and international! And most places have a good range of vegeterian choices, creative salads and new dishes-combinations. I was not strict about my low carb diet but did my best whenever I can. Like the colorful salad was for my breakfast at La Boulangerie when others enjoyed the best fresh croissants. I tasted everyrhing but then not ate the breads and pastas, etc. @pharmacia_cheffelicidade Pharmacia, TIME out Market and Bairro Do Avillez were our choices for dinners. The traditional restaurant and Pharmacia was in the previous posts. 👌🏼Time Out market was huge-noisy-crowded but I still enjoyed the fast&gourmet style of eating at a modernized “mercado”. And yes, visited the “Gin Bar”, too! 👌🏼 Today we had lunch in Belem inside the Contemporary Art Center. Book your table for outise before hand! 👌🏼This morning I was seqrching for a “heathier” alternative for breakfast and I came across @dearbreakfast where I had a delicious egg benedict, detox juice! 👌🏼 Best of all was @bairrodoavillez which is next post!
Ok ya'll, I'm a little nervous to put this out there but I need to so I won't quit😬... I've decided to train for Autumn Calabrese's new 80 Day Obsession coming out in January by doing P90x3 for the next 90 days. 90 DAYS Y'ALL! 🙀 That means I'll be committed to this program through Halloween🎃, Thanksgiving🦃, Christmas🌲, New Year's🥂, and right up until the DAY BEFORE I begin the 80 Day Obsession in my first accountability group of 2018 set to kick off January 15th!👊🏻 .
It is NOT going to be easy. I know that. In fact, I'm scared to death. 😳 I've never done this program before. I've heard it's really hard. I have a 4.5 year old and a 9 month old baby, a business, a house to tend to, holiday parties to help throw, a trip home to Buffalo planned for Christmas, and so much more BUT I'm going to do this anyways because its going to get me out of this little slump I've been in, push me out of my comfort zone, and help me discover a new layer of strength I didn't know I had just like when I embarked on my first program, Insanity! 💪🏻 It's going to take a lot of willpower, self-discipline and help from up above but I am ready and have an awesome support group beside me!
Because it's entirely too easy to give up on ourselves, isn't it? When we don't feel like it, when kids get sick or don't sleep well, when things come up and life just happens. Without anyone there to encourage us, to remind us of our why, to help us believe that we CAN still do it, that we can finish what we started, and that we will come out so much stronger as a result of learning to OVERCOME and push THROUGH the obstacles, we won't. 🙅 We'll give up. .
We need accountability. We all want to see changes in our lives but walking that our every day on our own, doing the things we need to do when no one is looking to get to where we want to be in the LONGRUN, that sh*t's hard y'all. That takes support. That takes someone who has gone the way, and goes the way, to show you how to do it too! That takes someone to believe in you until YOU believe in you too. That takes a coach! 💕 .

Next week is 🎃Halloween🎃 weekend! Likely full of snacks and candy! Next month is thanksgiving where we binge our little hearts out. And the next month is Christmas where we do the same!

This week I have been living the 30 days plan on hols in 🇵🇹 It's an easy place to continue the healthy living with beautiful fresh fish in abundance and everything served with salad and veggies (and chips - to be avoided-tough!). Last night we had a grass fed steak which is totally plan friendly and was delicious! 🐟 🍅 🥗 🍆
It's making me realise how much is mindset - often we come on holiday and think..I'm going to totally over indulge...and then head home feeling grim! Of course holidays are about kicking back, treats and lovely eating and drinking but if we are living the 80/20 rule there is no need to knock the balance totally out of whack again like I've done so many times! 😍

How to Find Dye-Free Candy 🍭🍬
So, you’re feeling good about your commitment to eat healthy, avoid artificial junk (especially with concerns over artificial dyes) in your food, and then Halloween comes around. Dang it. If only there were better options. Well, it’s 2017 and the market has caught up with consumer demand, and while healthier options are not overflowing, they are out there if you look for them.
A couple of brands that we have come to enjoy (and rely on) for our dye-free celebrations and holidays are included in this post to help you navigate a bit of a healthier Halloween! 🎃👻 .
Now, just to note, these candies are still full of sugar, which isn't exactly a healthy choice option. Sometimes, I forget that, and assume just because it's organic or doesn't have any artificial ingredients, that it's the same as broccoli. It's not.
