Homemade beetroot soup, topped with wilted spinach, crispy tempeh (marinaded in tamari + spices then baked in the oven), sprouted lentils, black + white sesame seeds and a splash of coconut cream.
So easy to make, delicious and filling.
The recipe will be up on my blog later today/tomorrow (slightly sick of my computer screen after a few crazy days of uni deadlines so probably tomorrow, or maybe the day 😂). For some reason I never make soup but I have the feeling this is the start of a new thing, this was so good. And look how pretty 🌿🌟
New recipe is up! Venezuelan "Arepa de queso" 😍 as close to my heart as it can be ❤️ And nowadays you can find the authentic cornmeal almost everywhere. Try to make them at home and send me the picture of your arepa. I will be featuring the pictures on social media 😵 #stopandshop#shoprite#target#walmart . Recipe is in the Bio
Part of the financial journey is to find ways to make money work for you. As Rich Dad, Poor Dad states: "Money working for you is the best employee. It works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year." Well, it may not be the exact quote but it is along those lines. I never once imagined a way of having money work for me until I began educating myself on the subject. I began getting my feet wet through this method of investing in I Savings Bonds. I felt comfortable starting here because there is virtually no risk involved and yet still earn interest. This money is only federally taxed which is awesome. I transfer $25 each week and let it grow on its own. There is no high maintenance needed from my end which is also great. I still have a lot of time to focus on other things. Some may not like this, others may not agree with me, and others may find it helpful and that is ok. We are here to support each other, network, and advise one another to achieve the same goal. Financial independence. This is only the beginning of my financial journey and will soon expand into other areas where money continues to work for me. I am always open to your feedback! Let's do this! 💪
Current status 🙄 peeling shells off 4 cups of soybeans. Finished unshelled ones to left, shells to right, and middle only 845 beans left to unshell! But the finished product will be worth it! Deep breathing, I've got this. 🤦🏽♀️
Broccoli Stem Chips / Don't throw out your broccoli stems - they may be the most delicious part. I love making these "chips" when roasting broccoli. They are super simple and only require Broccoli, Olive Oil, Salt, and Almond flour) www.mariamarlowe.com/blog for full recipe
We were going to try out the new gluten free pizza crust from @traderjoes, but our local store was all out due to a potential product problem😮😳. Plan B was to just turn all the pizza toppings into a pasta dish! I have to say that it turned out really well! All we did was toss some gluten free brown rice + quinoa pasta with black olives, red bell peppers, zucchini, and eggplant. Then we topped it with some marinara sauce, and had a delicious dinner nonetheless!🍝
After a week of eating out on vacation, I needed to make a homemade meal. I raided my freezer and found some Italian burger meat so decided to make some stuffed peppers for a quick Monday meal! Yummy, filling and low carb! 😋🍝🇮🇹 #cleaneats#cleaneating#eatclean#healthyeats#healthy#healthyfood#healthyeating#wholefoods#realfood#foodismedicine#eattherainbow#cancerfightingfoods#beatcancer#organic#foodie#dairyfree#grainfree#glutenfree#lowcarb#recipes#healthyrecipes#food#wellness#antiinflammatory#homecook#keto#paleo#whole30

Made this delicious sweet potato 🍠 raisin scone from @cook_it_up_paleo! Definitely recommend it. It was delicious and it hit the spot on a tough day when I needed a treat. You can see I was so hungry to satisfy my craving that I took a huge piece before thinking of taking a picture. I gave the rest to my husband and one of my sons. Too risky!
Who else joined me for #MindfulMonday 🙋 I wanna know! And if you didn't, there's always next Monday - or actually every day! But, I realize a lot of people, myself included, can get wrapped up in the every day and go for way too long without taking a break to tune in.
I love a meatless monday, toast Tuesday, taco Tuesday, etc. Just as much as the next person... BUT I think often these things take us away from what we're truly craving - physically or emotionally
Today I honored my soul by taking a break to go hiking🌄 I'm lucky enough in Portland to have Forrest Park 10 minutes away from me, so it makes a quick hike easy to do. I left with a clear mind, and nourished soul💚 Which actually allowed me to be even more productive afterwards.
Hope you all had a wonderful day, and can't wait to see you practice mindfulness next Monday with me💕🤗
How beautiful is this bowl! It sounds silly but I think the presentation of a meal makes so much difference to how much you enjoy your meal so I tried to incorporate lots of colours with this bowl and of course nicely presented it for the gram. This is a #vegetarian meal with my main protein source as chickpeas (which are so bomb by the way, try them if you haven't before) but you can swap the chickpeas for chicken breast or even hard boiled eggs, you could use any vege you want too! This is a versatile meal prep idea for lunch and dinner, recipe is on my blog www.daniellerandlenutrition.co.nz/blog
Such a nourishing & comforting soup - perfectly grounding & warming on cold Autumn days.🍁 I love making a large amount just so I can have a stock in the fridge - they make awesome lunches.
Inspired by @thehappypear, for this soup, I baked the Red Kuri squash in a 400°F oven for about 40min.⏰ While the squash was baking, I chopped up some carrots, potatoes, celery, ginger, & fresh sage, & simmered it all over low heat in some filtered water.
Once the squash was baked, I added it to the soup pot, including majority of its peel. Added some salt, & blended it to smoothness using an immersion blender.
Oh my, I loved this soup for it's taste & healing properties.😋 Some of the kids found it a bit spicy because of the ginger, but there is nothing a little avocado can't fix!🥑 Hope you give Red Kuri a chance, whether in soups or simply baked - I’ve definitely become a fan!👍
Happy birthday to my best friend @kayleighnicholee ♥️. Thank you babe for always being by my side. You’re always there for me when I need you the most. Even today, on your birthday you have been here for me when I needed you the most. With over 10 years worth of memories between us, I can’t imagine life without you. Here’s to all the rocks in the walls, nights of fun, sleepovers, crying, FaceTiming, calls in the middle of the night and everything in between. I love you. Happy twentieth birthday babe. ♥️
today was a damn good day 🙌🏻 so blessed for these couple days away to relax and recharge. i love my routine (seriously, i am sooo routine), but i'll take another day in paradise with this guy snorkeling and sailing tomorrow first 🙋🏼
You can still make a choice and its all about being BALANCE!
Reasons People Eat Junk Food Instead of Healthy Food
Eating junk food regularly is linked to obesity and chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, but many people still choose junk food sources over their healthy, nutritious whole food counterparts. Junk food is typically cheap, processed and prepackaged, making it easily available, but there are several psychological motivators that predispose people to choosing it as a meal or snack.
Busy schedules often diminish the amount of time people have to prepare healthy, nutritious meals, so they opt for faster, easier options. Whole foods such as vegetables and meat take time and kitchen equipment to cook properly, while fast food hamburgers are usually served within minutes of ordering. Over time, that convenience becomes a habit and eventually a perceived necessity to keep up with such a fast-paced society. Disrupting that routine requires an investment of time, and most people prefer to stick with the faster option.
& there came a day where I realize I no longer wanted to be something or someone I was not. I wanted to be me. I wanted to be me for everything I am & everything I am not. because when I'm true to me that is when I am happiest, that is when I feel fierce, that is when I feel most alive. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Why I Started My Instagram Account📸
For those of you that don’t know, I started my account for fun in 2013 under the name, “thecleanfoodiediaries”. If that doesn’t say much about my mindset at that time, then idk what does. Who has been here from the early days?
I was a freshman at the University of Vermont and was going through a time of extreme health issues with my relationship with food + body image. I started it to start keeping myself accountable, documenting meals I liked to make and that were dorm friendly! I wanted to start my journey to “finding myself again” and physically seeing the changes I was making
I had zero intention with my account. I wanted it to be completely private. I hid it until I accidentally linked it to my Facebook page 😂🙈
The beauty of this account was I never planned on it becoming anything. I kept up with my posting of my pancake stacks and basic oatmeal bowls & here we are today because you somehow can still deal with me 😉
Sure, just a small quick story, but a lesson that I think we all forget. HAVE FUN. I think we all get a little too hard on ourselves. My whole explore feed is filled with “posed vs. unposed” pics because that’s “what is in”. Why have an account if you’re gunna just follow everyone else and just keep using the same trends to propel yourself? I think the idea of Instagram, especially in fitness, has come to this: some people with bigger followings believe this makes them eligible to act a certain way, treat others without respect, and receive certain things. Lol no. It has come down to trends that give no value, but things that only get high engagement
If you just started your account/ want to grow ,remember WHY you started. Was it for fun? Was it to track your health and fitness journey? Keep that as your goal & follow it. My why will always be the same. To have fun making food while be able to help you as much as I can. I also want to meet as many people who have supported me as possible, so I see some traveling in my future.
Anyway, i probably shouldn’t be typing long captions while on pain meds so goodnight 😙
Just sitting here in my PJ’s working my business, leading with my heart and sharing my passion with others... NBD. .

🥗Salad doesn't have to be boring! These are some simple tricks that keep salads interesting and delicious. 👉🏼Ingredients:
✨cabbage✨kale✨broccoli✨carrots✨mesclun mix✨iceberg lettuce✨cilantro✨red & green peppers✨cherry tomatoes ✨sauerkraut ✨homemade vegan parmesan cheese
👉🏼tip #1 : grate carrots on the slicing side of your grater. In a bowl combine carrot slices, apple cider vinegar and pink Himalayan salt and let sit for around 30 min. Tastes like delicious juicy pickled carrots as the salt draws out all the moisture in the carrots👌🏼
👉🏼Tip #2 : creat different layers, textures & sizes when chopping up your veggies to create interest when eating it. For example a big hunk of cabbage in your salad isn't going to taste very pleasant, but chopped finely into thin strips gives your salad a nice bit of crunch.
👉🏼tip #3 : the dressing makes all the difference! Instead of buying ready made bottles of salad dressing that are loaded with preservatives, gluten and sugar make your own it's so easy and adds much more nutritional value. In this salad I added: (keeping in mind it was a bowl that served 4)
✨juice from one lemon
✨juice from half an orange ✨2 tbsp olive oil ✨1 heaping tsp pink Himalayan salt
The salt also drawn out the natural juices in the veggies😋
👉🏼Tip #4 : everything tastes better with kale chips on top! ✨chop kale into bite size pieces, drizzle with coconut oil & pink Himalayan salt and bake in the oven till crispy 🤤
👉🏼I also added #vegan Parmesan cheese 🧀 that is insanely delicious recipe in the next post!
Enjoy your salad making! 🥕🍅🥒
