Location - Hong kong : One of the 20 dream trails that made it to the National Geographic's list of 20 dream trails in the world in early 2016.
8kms into the trail, this was where I sat and told myself
"You aren't giving up on this hike no matter what the weather. You aren't taking the easy way out. You aren't hopping into that taxi and going to the beach. You have to finish the remaining 20kms. If you end up telling this story to someone, would you want it to be that easy? That you gave up on the hike and got a taxi instead?"
So i took rest here for half an hour with two Indian guys, one Turkish & an Egyptian guy (all flatmates) ,all of whom I got to know recently because I'm not a people's person. This was a Sunday I decided to hike with them bunch a week ago inspite of working on Saturdays and coming back to my room very late at nights an entire week.I think it was almost 36 degrees in the scorching heat & humidity of hong kong when we decided to hike the Machlehose trail stage 1 & 2 starting the hike at around the hottest time of the day. I was completely dehydrated& running out of water when the small cracks on the sides of the roads with water falling through them saved me.Imagine drinking about12 bottles of 900ml water without peeing even once? That's how hot & how difficult it was that sunny day. But after this much needed rest, i kept going and finished this dream trail. The views were oh so worth it&it was a tiring day but this point where i took rest & took this picture as a mememto to remember how hard it was, turned it all around for me. I kept going until the i came to two beaches. The white sandy beaches are undoubtedly the bests in hong kong. More on that later.
It was one crazy hike and I think I'm proud i completed the hike.
