…& as The Year of Luigi Keeps on Truckin’ & Groovin', did this Bowser sketch help inspire "Super Mario Odyssey"? I was originally saving this as a story surprise, but friends all told me to "rush it out there" so everyone can see what I was referring to a couple of months ago. You see, this is one of many sketches I created back in September 2015 while coming up with various costumes for Bowser to wear in his musical performances. This is his Elton John outfit, inspired by Elton's famous TV performance with Cher and Bette Midler. I decided to add a Mad Hatter style price tag ("77 pounds, 7 pence"), and made the baubles silver pokeballs, lol. ;) Oh, and I added the bow tie. It comes with slacks and platform shoes. He especially wears it while performing Elt's "Complete Thom Bell Sessions" material. Well, back during that time my lifelong pal Chris DeBruin, who was working for Nintendo and with whom I was sharing all this work-in-progress, was in turn sharing it with fellow Nintendo staff, who "love your stuff" and were "passing them around among each other". So when about two months ago I discovered the "Odyssey" trailer, I raised an eyebrow as I looked at Mario running around a NYC-style city (as the gang eventually goes to NYC in my cartoon), and especially Bowser's top-hatted wedding outfit. Now this *could* just be a coincidence. It could very well be Nintendo were inspired by my cartoon and these sketches. Or maybe not. I have no way of knowing; and besides, the wedding outfit doesn't look *too* similar to mine, so, if so, then this would definitely fall under the "inspired by" category, certainly not "theft". But in case my sketches *did* inspire it, then I just want to say to Nintendo - go for it! :D If something I did helped inspired a game you created to make millions of people happy, then I'm all for it! After all, isn't positive inspiration what I've been saying my cartoons are all about? ;D Peace, brothers and sisters! ;D #cartoon#videogame#videogames#surreal#surrealism#surrealist#psychedelic#psychedelicrock#trippy#hippy#hippie#hippies#hippielife#hippielove#hippiestyle#nintendo#mariobros#pokemon#luigi#yearofluigi#eltonjohn#bowser

So I remember this one post on a feminist account said that hippies are racist because they appropriate cultures just to be different. Their argument was that they are racist because they see these cultures as being "weird". Maybe some modern hippies think like that but real hippies, as well as original ones from the 60s, have much better reasons for adopting aspects of various cultures. What hippies wanted to do was to live life differently than what society wanted. They were unhappy with what was considered normal for American, western, middle class people. Many were very intellectual and studied other cultures and ways of life. They adopted various practices such as a more tribal way of life in hippie communes similar to indiginous Americans, more peaceful and tolerant methods of spirituality (like Hinduism and Buddhism), etc. It's not that they just wanted to be rebels and be different; rather they saw these other cultures as being better than middle class American culture of the time. I'm planning on writing more about this later. #hippies
