I haven't posted any selfie pics in awhile. So here it is, winter fluff and all. I've been eating literally what ever in November-December and gave myself a break from holistic clean meals. BY NO MEANS am I implementing you should do the same but I know my body and I know when my body needs a break.

Been reverse dieting the whole month of January super clean, eating 5-6meals throughout the day and I feel so much better on holistic foods! If it didn't have a life, grow on a tree, or from the ground I'm not eating it. 
Starting February 1st-tomorrow I'll be doing a mini cut to see how much muscle I have under my fluff. Hopefully I haven't damaged my metabolism and my body responds well to the calorie deficit.

Well I wasn't going to start till November 1st but ended up starting today. Back to IIFYM! It's been a fabulous two months of not having to calculate, measure, count, and really just eat whenever and whatever I wanted to. (All in moderation of course) 
I do want to end this year on a healthy track so I'm doing a mini cut. With three jobs and being the housewife (girlfriend) doing most of the house chores; cooking and cleaning, this isn't going to be an easy task but I do love a good challenge!
Can't wait to end the year and start what looks to be a great future for me!!!! New job, job security, and $$$$ has definitely taken a lot of weight off my shoulders! Literally couldn't have done it without my loyal boyfriend @andrewmelchi And my friend @will_b_fit_1  for hooking me up with the PA position!! .

Hi friends! I have a super easy and delicious recipe for nights when you donโ€™t know what to make ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. Here I used whatever fresh veggies I had on hand, feel free to use what you have.

For the salad ๐Ÿฅ—:
1 small bunch of kale (de-stemmed and chopped in small pieces).
Carrots, sliced down the middle, tops removed (I used fresh colourful ones from the market).
1 medium potato (can use sweet potato)
Handful of cherry tomatoes (sliced in half)
1 peach
Hemp hearts for garnish
Pine nuts for garnish (use any nut or seed)
Feel free to add a little extra protein if you want/need.

For the yogurt-maple dressing: recipe from @mynewroots cookbook ๐Ÿ“š.
ยผ cup plain yogurt (sheep/goat or greek)
2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
2-3 tsp dijon mustard
4 tsp raw apple cider vinegar
2 tsp real maple syrup
Pinch of sea salt and pepper
To make: 
Wash and chop your kale
Preheat your oven to 400
Line a pan with parchment paper and add veggies on top
Drizzle veggies with a bit of coconut or avocado oil, sea salt and pepper.
Roast tomatoes and carrots for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Cook your potato (I used a leftover cooked potato from meal prep).
Whisk the dressing ingredients in a small bowl and add to the kale and massage with your hands, reserving some for after.
Once the veggies are done, add on top of the kale and top with garnishes (nuts, seeds, peach) and a little more dressing.
Voila! Eat and enjoy ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™. Thanks

What does health and wellness mean to you?

Ok, Iโ€™ll go first and Iโ€™ve thought about this long and hard so I can articulate what I want to get across (sometimes I ramble) oops!

It literally used to mean nothing to me, then my mom got sick and suddenly it meant everything. I saw how fleeting it can be and how quickly it can be taken away.
.
So when I see posts bashing the health and wellness space, it bothers me. Sure, I get it, when anything is taken to an extreme it can be obnoxious. But I also refuse to feel bad because I choose to put my health first. I choose to support and purchase local, organic food, to make most of my meals at home, buy a $10-12 organic, cold pressed juice from time to time, take supplements and make time for self care weekly. If that makes someone roll their eyes, then so be it, because this is me and Iโ€™m fine with it.

I know what it's like to see sickness and unfortunately death in someones eyes and have them wish, hope and pray that they took better care of themselves.
.
I fully believe that intuitive eating can be a useful tool for getting in touch with ourselves and nourishing our bodies. I do however think that this can be done using nutrient dense whole foods as much as possible while giving ourselves permission to eat foods that makes us feel good. This is why I call myself holistic foodie because I fully believe that you can live holistically and still love and appreciate food. Itโ€™s about creating that balance in my life so that I never feel deprived. I can truly say that I have never felt more fulfilled than I have these past three years.

You can totally get your BF/man eating the way you want ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป. One of my tips is to give them what they want (sort of). And by this I mean meet them where theyโ€™re at by giving them what they want, but adding a twist to it. You can always healthify a meal by simply using better ingredients. So when I make steak and potatoes, Iโ€™ll go for grass-fed (dry aged) steak, which is more expensive, but better quality. Iโ€™ll cook it on my cast iron pan with some ghee, sea salt, pepper and some herbs (like rosemary). For potatoes, Iโ€™ll go for mashed sweet potatoes or smashed (baked) potatoes. Love pasta but want a slightly more high protein/fibre combo?? I tried @tolerant.foods red lentil pasta last night for dinner and it was soooooo good! I really had my doubts that this lentil pasta would taste just as good as my spelt version but yeah it passed my holistic foodie test. Smothered this pasta with a delish basil pesto that is dairy free and then ruined the dairy free goodness by adding a sprinkle of parm ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿง€ because #cheeseislife. Tip- always add lots of veggies to whatever you're making. This pasta had lots of arugula, sundried tomatoes and I sautรฉed a purple pepper and added that in too. Have you tried lentil pasta before??
