This one is a new favorite !!! I love it for it's high fat (Saturated) and low sugar content. It only has 4 grams of sugar which is quite a rarity.

One serving of chia seed pudding gives you all the DHA you need in a day. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid important for brain health. Most people associate it with fish. However it is completely possible to meet your DHA needs on a plant-based or vegan diet. 1.5 servings of chia seeds or just over 3 tablespoons fulfills your daily need for DHA. Fish actually create DHA from algae, another plant source, which is why some plant-based doctors recommend taking a DHA supplement sourced from algae. I always prefer to eat my nutrients in their whole, unprocessed form, which is one reason I love chia seed pudding. The other reason is it tastes really good! I make it with coconut milk, cinnamon, and blended bananas and berries. Mix your liquids with chia seeds in a 4:1 ratio (4 parts liquid:1 part chia) and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes but best if left overnight. Stir, decorate, and enjoy.

Yesterday was D day!
Decision Day.

I had my first run in a week, 7 days post surgery. My legs and lungs felt great. My mouth was throbbing, the stitches are annoying as heck, and I definitely have pain and swelling. 
This run was short, but soul searching. I contemplated risk vs reward on the race. And even though I missed my I already week of training, I know I will experience pain.... it came down o this. I trained for a year for this. If I don't run it, I will experience regret. I will ask myself "what if?" "Maybe I could have..." I should have..." That will drive me nuts so I de used. I am running. I will do my best. I will finish it. I will compete against myself. And no matter what I will feel such a pride and sense of accomplishment to know that I accomplished it, that I didn't let ANY excuse keep me from my goal. Tomorrow I will race my  longest  race to date. I will give it my all. I will be so proud of my accomplishment!

1 tsp Coconut Vinegar

Yesterday my son woke up with a runny nose (gotta love back to school!). The first thing I did was give him 2 OnGuard beadlets and made up a diffuser blend and put the diffuser next to him most of the morning. I used 2 drops each of lemon, Oregano, thyme and OnGuard. These oils are powerful against environmental threats and are some of my go to oils when someone isn't feeling well. 
By the end of the day... no more sniffles ๐Ÿ˜‰ essential oils have always worked really well when you use them as soon as you feel symptoms. Be consistent, and use small amounts of oils frequently!

Most people have never had the opportunity to taste a TRUE sourdough that has fermented for several days before the dough rises and bubbles NATURALLY! Allowing the dough to ferment makes it more digestible, and neutralizes the Phytic Acid. In contrast to commercial produced breads, a fermented sourdough contains uniquely balanced proteins and fatty acids. It's not only loaded with vitamins and minerals, but the low phytic acid content let's you actually absorb them into your body! Lactic Acid in sourdough enhances the acidification that can lead to increasing the availability of magnesium and phosphorus. Did I mention how this actually improves glucose homeostasis? What does that mean? You CAN eat bread and maintain a flat tummy +still have ABS! We have been frolicking this Friday away, enjoying this gorgeous weather and looking for a little INSPO in the outside world. Popped into Open Secret bookstore in San Rafael for lunch today with a long time bestie @sarahmcleodofficial ๐Ÿ˜˜We devoured their Kale-idoscope Salad, a harmonious symphony of beets, carrots, cucumbers and avocado on a bed of chopped kale with a hefty drizzle of miso-vin and a sprinkle of walnut dukka. Sit tight on that one as we will recreate and give you our rendition soon. It was YUMMMMA!! For dessert we popped over to @wuweiteatemple in Fairfax for a golden milk and some other wacky herbal concoctions that have us FLYINโ€™!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑMore on that later. โœ…โœ…You can bet your bottom dolla that we got the skinny on how to make their particularly decadent golden milk. Stay tuned.

We then popped into @amphoranuevasananselmo to stock up on some specialty olive oils and vinegars. Feels so wonderful to step out of our kitchens and get some fresh ideas. Sara and I are Cancers and shameless homebodies, so we tend to hole up in our kitchens a LOT of the time, but just realizing today how important it is to step out and see what is happening in the world!!ย Ahhhh...... We wanna know what yaโ€™ll do for inspiration. What and where are your honey holes?
For the locals, we Insta sistas should get together at a cool lunch spot and share ideas one of these days.

EATING HEALTHY: DINING HALL EDITION
As a college student, it can be a little bit more challenging to eat nutritious, whole foods๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‰! Dining halls tend to be loaded with pizza, burgers, fries, cookies, etc. while finding the healthier options tends to take a little more searching! Here are some of my tips for all you college students trying to eat healthy while on your schools meal plan!
-AVOID fried foods and packaged processed snacks!
- most universities have a "build your own" option when it comes to making salads, sandwiches, stir fry dishes, etc. Utilize this option and fill your meal with fresh veggies as opposed to grabbing premade dishes which tend to have a lot of extra sauce, cheese, dressing, and a lot of other excess toppings. -keep healthy snacks in your dorm! I always have a stash of protein bars, oats, bananas, nuts and other healthy snacks in my dorm! This will save you money AND ensure that you are snacking healthy! -ask for some extra veggies in your meals! For example, whenever I get an omelet, I'll ask for a lot of spinach! This will help you get in those micronutrients!! I hope you college ppls thought this was helpful!!

That time of the week again for a #foodiefriday post, just in time for that DREADED TIME OF THE MONTH. Ladies, you know what I mean ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ !!

Do I ever know a good thing when I spot (no pun intended) one... wasn't always the case and to be quite honest, totally came across this one by fluke at the health food store earlier this week as they didn't have any of my fave organic alfalfa-radish sprouts stocked.

After adding it as a topper and a side to about every dish I made throughout the week, including my kale and veggie scrambies, and curry coconut chicken w/ black rice noodles, the #sproutedfenugreek always stole the show. So what is it that makes these sprouts the LITTLE GIANT of the veggie world?

Fenugreek is rich in vitamin C, protein, fiber, niacin, potassium and diosgenin (estrogen-like compound). Other active constituents in fenugreek are alkaloids, lysine and L-tryptophan, as well as steroidal saponins.

So why am I touting this as the LITTLE GIANT in my kitchen tonight, especially when everyone damn well knows I'm the ๐Ÿ‘ธ of my kitchen particularly at this time of the month? Among its many health benefits and due to its estrogen-like properties, fenugreek has been found to help increase libido and LESSEN THE EFFECT of HOT FLASHES, MOOD FLUCTUATIONS and MENSTRUAL CRAMPS that are common symptoms of MENOPAUSE and PMS.
