I rarely approve of packaged bars or buttercups. They are usually loaded with sugar and/or unhealthy fats.
This one is a new favorite !!! I love it for it's high fat (Saturated) and low sugar content. It only has 4 grams of sugar which is quite a rarity.
9 grams of wonderful stable saturated fat.
These are delicious !!! It's Paleo, vegan, low carb, and lectin free !!! Ingredients: Organic Coconut, Organic Cacao, Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Cacao Butter, Himalayan sea salt,
Organic Vanilla Extract.
Choose you, every single time.
When you're about to follow a thought of judgment, choose you.
When you're about to make up a story that makes you feel shame, choose you.
When you're about to second guess your guidance, choose you.
When so much is shifting and changing so quickly, sometimes we can feel like we are "losing" ourselves. Or like we are losing "control" of our lives. We aren't. It is all happening, for you. It is all here for you, because you are ready.
Trust what you are feeling drawn to.
Trust how you feel when you aren't feeling drawn to something. Your mind is going to tell you all of the reasons why you "should"... choose you!
What if procrastination is actually just you not following your intuition? What if you feel like you are procrastinating because you are following stories of shame and perfection- instead of choosing you! Trust that it is all happening perfectly for you.
There is only one of you.
Divinely and perfectly created.
Everything about you is created for you- your body, your appearance, your smile, your hair, your eyes, your accent, your personalities, your shadows, your experiences- they are all here for you. For the divine to experience this life through you.
What if you can choose to trust that.
There is only one you, so choose you.
The next time you are going into comparison, competition or shame- turn your attention around and choose you.
Because you are the perfect version of you, every single time. 🌿✨🙏🏻
Here she is folks, in all her glory. It turns out, all the fuss about Ramen 🍜 is 💯 % true. Anyone else grow up eating top ramen???😂 Also worth mentioning, this fried rice 🍚 takes the 🎂 for best we've EVER had. Food coma, not even sorry about it.....

🙌#FoodIsMedicine : Hippocrates famously said “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” Around 400 B.C., Hippocrates was way ahead of his time when he advised people to prevent and treat diseases by eating a nutrient-dense diet.
Food provides us with energy (calories), but the foods we regularly eat help determine whether or not we will become ill, or remain healthy into older age. Foods contain influential substances including antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, fiber, and much more. Nutrient deficiencies and toxicity from a poor diet, and low-quality foods are linked to nearly all modern health conditions, and many diseases, including Heart Disease, the number 1 killer in the U.S. .
Medicinal food can help control inflammation, balance hormones, alkalize the body, balance blood sugar, eliminate toxins, and improve nutrient absorption. It’s crucial to make every calorie count, and consume foods that protect you like:
🌱Probiotic Foods: chicory, asparagus, articohokes, and other cultured veggies
🌱Omega-3 Foods: walnuts, flaxseeds and chia seeds
🌱Healthy Fats: avocado, coconut oil, MCT oil, and extra virgin olive oil
🌱High-Antioxidant Foods: berries, raw cocoa, acai, spirulina, leafy greens, fresh herbs and spices, cruciferous veggies and bright root veggies
🌱High Fiber Foods: leafy greens, cruciferous veggies, avocado, coconut, starchy veggies, berries, nuts, seeds, sprouted legumes and ancient grains

30 hours of flying, 4 hours in a van, 10 minutes on a boat and I would do it all again. I love this island, it was my second home when I was here. Returning home is ALWAYS a wonderful feeling. 🌊💓 #thailand
Happy Fall! Kicking it off right with some of my fave Fall foods and dishes, including this curried acorn squash stuffed with sautéed garlic and onion, millet, fresh spinach, hemp seeds and sunflower shoots, in an EVOO, fresh lemon and raw honey vinaigrette! Cheers to the new season ahead! 🍁🍂🌻
One serving of chia seed pudding gives you all the DHA you need in a day. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid important for brain health. Most people associate it with fish. However it is completely possible to meet your DHA needs on a plant-based or vegan diet. 1.5 servings of chia seeds or just over 3 tablespoons fulfills your daily need for DHA. Fish actually create DHA from algae, another plant source, which is why some plant-based doctors recommend taking a DHA supplement sourced from algae. I always prefer to eat my nutrients in their whole, unprocessed form, which is one reason I love chia seed pudding. The other reason is it tastes really good! I make it with coconut milk, cinnamon, and blended bananas and berries. Mix your liquids with chia seeds in a 4:1 ratio (4 parts liquid:1 part chia) and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes but best if left overnight. Stir, decorate, and enjoy.
In an ideal world I would wake up at 6am everyday and sit down with my nourishing breakfast, but in reality I'm gonna sleep in sometimes and have to grab and run to class 😴🏃🏽♀️📚 It's important to have healthy high-protein snacks on hand to keep you going so you don't crash and make unhealthy choices throughout the day 🥝🥗 #nourishyourbody @clifbar
MEAL PREP. Meal prepping is the best and easiest way to stay healthy while you're busy through the week. A little preparation on the weekend or the night before can make the week so much easier. This cute snap is from my dad - this is his lunch and snacks for his day in the office. This may look like a lot of food but he's a pretty active guy when he's not behind a computer - so this a good amount for him throughout the day :) I prep my breakfast smoothie the night before while I'm in the kitchen, and try to make a little extra food for dinner to take as leftovers for lunch the following day. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you like!🥒🥗🍱🌯 📸@peterjroots

Did anyone go to #chfa last weekend? It has TONS of vendors, all focused around healthy living, nutrition, supplements and alternative medicine! It was fascinating with lots of interesting people ♥️
Some of the tastiest things were these @bitemeballs which were honestly the tastiest protein bites I've had!! And this rich, flavourful @kouzinifoods olive oil from mah home country.
If you like trying new healthy things, it's worth checking out @canadianhealthfoodassociation next year!

🍂Happy first day of fall!🍂 ⠀
We are thrilled to start incorporating all of the delicious fall flavours and produce to our diet. Fall is a great time to slow down and savour the richer flavours. Here is a great fall recipe from #CNEprogram alumni @the_herbal_apothecary. ⠀
Spaghetti squash stuffed with some yummy chili! Spaghetti squash has to be one of my favourite pasta substitutes! Have it with tomato sauce, bolognese sauce, pesto or yes, even chili:)! You can also just season it with olive oil, dash of salt and pepper, grilled pine nuts and fresh basil, cilantro or parsley.💚🌱⠀
This yummy all natural, organic chili is homemade by my butcher @thehealthybutcher. Try to find these valuable ressources and alternatives around you when you're stuck for time. Make a list that you can refer to easily. These are precious commodities that will help keep healthy meals on your table and stay the course. Sometimes meal planning means cheating and planning for someone else's delicious and healthy cooking:)! Don't have the knack for it? Consider hiring a holistic nutritionist @instituteofholisticnutrition or culinary nutrition expert @culinarynutrition !Happy First day of Fall and wishing you all a wonderful weekend!⠀
This is clearly not pasta 😏but I love this bowl so much. This dinner from 2 nights ago is in fact my homemade split pea soup (that is fortified with kelp and kombu 👍🏻) and some brown rice with that turmeric hummus I made. This simple meal is perfection. It's sweet and salty and contains so many nutrients and my favorite part? The fresh thyme sprinkled on top, it ties everything together 🙏🏻
Is this real life?
It has been over a year since I moved to the west coast and I am still in awe of it's beauty every single day. It was always my dream to live out here. Something about a call to the ocean and the mountains that just felt right.
One thing I love about this life is how creative we can be. With our choices we can create a life that we love.
I think sometimes we get bogged down by life's "to-do" list and forget that this is not the reason we are here. We are here to love, to enjoy, to create and to explore. SO why don't we do more of that? This weekend, I hope you can find the time to take a break from routine and carve out some time to do the things that bring you the most joy! #happyfriday

Yesterday my son woke up with a runny nose (gotta love back to school!). The first thing I did was give him 2 OnGuard beadlets and made up a diffuser blend and put the diffuser next to him most of the morning. I used 2 drops each of lemon, Oregano, thyme and OnGuard. These oils are powerful against environmental threats and are some of my go to oils when someone isn't feeling well.
By the end of the day... no more sniffles 😉 essential oils have always worked really well when you use them as soon as you feel symptoms. Be consistent, and use small amounts of oils frequently!
Have you brought oils into your life yet? Don't be intimidated by oils, they are wonderful in your daily life! I am here to help 😉 .
Comment below if your little one has picked up back to school germs yet and what you usually do to help them get over it quicker.
🍁🍂Fermentation Friday 🍂🍁
Did you know that there is NO need for outside leaving agents in bread 🍞!? I'm talking about "active dry yeast". Breads can (should) be made with flour, water, starter and salt. That's IT! Most people have never had the opportunity to taste a TRUE sourdough that has fermented for several days before the dough rises and bubbles NATURALLY! Allowing the dough to ferment makes it more digestible, and neutralizes the Phytic Acid. In contrast to commercial produced breads, a fermented sourdough contains uniquely balanced proteins and fatty acids. It's not only loaded with vitamins and minerals, but the low phytic acid content let's you actually absorb them into your body! Lactic Acid in sourdough enhances the acidification that can lead to increasing the availability of magnesium and phosphorus. Did I mention how this actually improves glucose homeostasis? What does that mean? You CAN eat bread and maintain a flat tummy +still have ABS! Keep in mind that the "SOUR FAUX" bread you find in the supermarket is not made using the traditional methods and will not provide the same benefits. I have to give a shoutout to @theangelinyourkitchen For providing artisan breads that are created with care and traditional bread making methods!!! If you want to start eating sourdough for the benefits, but don't want to make it yourself, you can go ahead and
FOLLOW: @theangelinyourkitchen .
ORDER: by the pound .
ENJOY: True Artisan 🍞
*Experience is the best teacher and teaching is the best experience*
I'm looking forward to tasting testing and learning to connect with the food I eat so I can pass on my experience to others. Seasonal fruits and veggies provide a fresher nutrient rich meal that the body will love! Mission Heirloom Garden Café gave me exactly that today with the Seasonal Frittata.
Shopping Organic locally grown or at farmers markets is the easiest way of knowing you're getting the freshest seasonal produce! (Also check labels) 🍆🍅🌶🥒🍑🍏🍎🥑🍠🍒 #nutritionaltherapy#holisticnutrition#foodlovesmetoo#learnpracticeexecutesucceedteach
We have been frolicking this Friday away, enjoying this gorgeous weather and looking for a little INSPO in the outside world. Popped into Open Secret bookstore in San Rafael for lunch today with a long time bestie @sarahmcleodofficial 😘We devoured their Kale-idoscope Salad, a harmonious symphony of beets, carrots, cucumbers and avocado on a bed of chopped kale with a hefty drizzle of miso-vin and a sprinkle of walnut dukka. Sit tight on that one as we will recreate and give you our rendition soon. It was YUMMMMA!! For dessert we popped over to @wuweiteatemple in Fairfax for a golden milk and some other wacky herbal concoctions that have us FLYIN’!!! 😱More on that later. ✅✅You can bet your bottom dolla that we got the skinny on how to make their particularly decadent golden milk. Stay tuned.
We then popped into @amphoranuevasananselmo to stock up on some specialty olive oils and vinegars. Feels so wonderful to step out of our kitchens and get some fresh ideas. Sara and I are Cancers and shameless homebodies, so we tend to hole up in our kitchens a LOT of the time, but just realizing today how important it is to step out and see what is happening in the world!! Ahhhh...... We wanna know what ya’ll do for inspiration. What and where are your honey holes?
For the locals, we Insta sistas should get together at a cool lunch spot and share ideas one of these days.
Happy Friday lovlies. xo m
Glass jars are a great way or organize your bulk foods! It helps you to know what you have on hand, what you need to stock up on and keeps everything fresh!
I order bulk nuts, seeds, grains and legumes that I can soak and sprout to get the most nutrition out of my foods!
Colorful jars of beans and nuts and seeds can serve as inspiration for your meals, take a look at what calls out to you and get it soaking!
An instant pot or pressure cooker can also be a great tool in the kitchen to speed up the cooking process for legumes and grains and is great for a busy life!

One thing we know from our kids is that they tell you the truth about what they like and what they don't like. I'm so happy to introduce medicinal mushrooms to Emily and Lilly!!! they now look forward to their "healthy chocolate drink" in their own words. I look forward to them receiving medicinal benefits of the Mushroom Cacao latte by @isabelsnaturals every morning as a family with mommy and daddy. Mushrooms make the world go round...but really they do! The interconnected mycelium AKA fascia hold the soil together🍄which hold the world together🍄they also clean the soil by pulling out harmful toxins through #bioremediation 🍄which allows us to grow healthy foods and healthy plants to produce healthy medicine!!! EATING HEALTHY: DINING HALL EDITION
As a college student, it can be a little bit more challenging to eat nutritious, whole foods🌱🍍🍉! Dining halls tend to be loaded with pizza, burgers, fries, cookies, etc. while finding the healthier options tends to take a little more searching! Here are some of my tips for all you college students trying to eat healthy while on your schools meal plan!
-AVOID fried foods and packaged processed snacks!
- most universities have a "build your own" option when it comes to making salads, sandwiches, stir fry dishes, etc. Utilize this option and fill your meal with fresh veggies as opposed to grabbing premade dishes which tend to have a lot of extra sauce, cheese, dressing, and a lot of other excess toppings. -keep healthy snacks in your dorm! I always have a stash of protein bars, oats, bananas, nuts and other healthy snacks in my dorm! This will save you money AND ensure that you are snacking healthy! -ask for some extra veggies in your meals! For example, whenever I get an omelet, I'll ask for a lot of spinach! This will help you get in those micronutrients!! I hope you college ppls thought this was helpful!!
