These delicious banana muffins are probably one of the quickest and easiest recipes that I cook in the last 30 minutes before guests arrive. 
Banana #muffins recipe

Preparation: 10 min.
Cooking: 18-20 min.
Total time: 30 min.

Ingredients for 9-10 muffins:

2 mashed bananas
3/4 cup sugar
1 3/4 cups rice flour (you can chose any kind of flour you like, but the rice one is GF) 
4 tbsps olive oil 
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder 
1/2 tsp vanilla extract 
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
* 1 egg (exclude egg for a vegan option)
*chopped walnuts to taste for topping (optional)

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a 10 hole muffin tin with paper cases. 
2. Sift together all dry ingredients.
3. Add mashed bananas, olive oil, vanilla extract and the egg to the flour mix. Combine all the ingredients well. 
4. Scoop about 1/4 - 1/3 cup of batter for each muffin and bake for about 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the muffin comes out clean. 
The muffins have the right  texture, great flavour and easy to make. The recipe goes well without eggs, so you can easily exclude them from the list of the ingredients.

Easy school day breakfast: using 5 simple ingredients. Yogurt Parfaits 😋. So easy. Protein and carbohydrate-rich to keep their tummies full and 🧠 ‘s functioning at prime until break time. 
I appreciate how Liberte plain 0% mf yogurt has 17 grams of protein per 3/4 cups! The sprinkle of #cinnamon adds to the flavour but also has impressive health benefits including lowering blood sugar levels. #Bananas as are loaded with #essential vitamins and minerals and the high content of #potassium make it a super fruit.  The teaspoon of maple syrup on top was added for sweetness but pure maple syrup also boosts the #immune system and is a great alternative to sugar for improved digestion! PS - this granola was purchased from #gloryjuice and tastes amazing, but you could of course use your own granola, or store bought alternative. Just be sure to buy the ‘good’ stuff. Be mindful of the ingredients. #noprocessedshit .

Soak in where I am, that I get to work w/ my amazing clients from halfway around the world, that I get to eat amazing croissants each morning, & the time and care the barista took to make me my beautiful drink.

Hello WEDNESDAY before Thanksgiving, we are TOASTING to this beautiful day before the hectic day gets us all 🙃.
Made cranberry compote using 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1 TBSP of @dvashorganics date nectar + 2 navel oranges juiced, 1 TBSP of ghee and fresh lemon thyme. Cook in a cast iron skillet on medium-low heat. Stirring a few times to make sure it doesn't stick. 
Give it a try this holiday and let me know what you think.

I happen to love cranberries and always buy a few bags and freeze them to enjoy through Spring {they freeze well} and Summer. 
Top your GF toast with @gtskombucha COCOYO + a good dollop of #cranberrycompote. I also made a savory toast with cooked spinach + @vitalfarms scrambled eggs 🍳 micro greens.

This is for you athletes out there who are sick and tired of those crappy pre-works. We all like a good boost before we get things going but have we ever asked the question why do we take it? What’s the point? What are trying to achieve? Most people will take about a feeling or an energy boost. But what’s really going on. Most people don’t realize what you really need is to maximize ATP production and the best way to do that is through mitochondrial function. The more mitochondria you have in your cells the better your are at producing ATP. So delivering nutrients to the cells is the first important process. The second is how well and fast those mitochondria can produce ATP.

Sole (pronounced solay, but we say soul because we aren’t so particular) is water that has become completely saturated with salt to the point that it can dissolve no more.  Combining the two in this way ionizes the minerals in salt.  Minerals are essential to proper functioning in the human body, and so many of us are mineral deficient. Let’s take a little more technical look at the process that makes sole

“When water combines with salt the positive ions of sodium surround the negative ions of the water molecules and the negative ions of chloride surround the positive ions of the water molecules. The other 82 mineral elements found in the salt also ionize and split into other complex ionized compounds.”

How do you make sole?
Quick Tip:  Prepare it in the evening, so it will be ready the next morning

Step 1.  Take a clean, glass jar and fill it about 1 – 2 inches high with “good” salt

Step 2.  Add filtered water to within 1 inch of the top of the jar and close with lid.

Step 3.  Shake to dissolve the salt.  Remember, you want the salt to saturate the water.  This means that there has to be salt left in the bottom of the jar that does not dissolve.  If all of your salt dissolves, simple add more salt and shake again until you end up with salt left in the bottom.

Step 4.  Allow the sole to sit overnight to dissolve completely.

Mornings are for sitting on your kitchen floor in koala slippers drinking a fruit-free smoothie. Recipe below 👇🏼
• 1 cup of cashew (or almond) milk
• Handful of frozen then steamed zucchini
• Handful of spinach
• 1 spoonful of hemp seeds
• 1 tablespoon of cashew (or almond) butter
• 1 scoop of vanilla protein
• 1 teaspoon of spirulina
The zucchini makes it so creamy that you don’t even notice it has no fruit in it! 🤓

The point of this post is to show you that if you're struggling to lose weight, you should look at your portion sizes of veggies, meat and fats. 
While you should be eating ALL of these, the majority of your meals should be fruits/veggies as these will fill you up!! So if you're always hungry after a meal, perhaps add more veggies or complex carbohydrates to fill your stomach. 
Only about 1/4 of your plate should be meat - this will help you maintain and build muscle. 
Finally, finish the meal with 1-2 tbsp of fats. That's right, although they are calorie dense, YOU NEED FATS. Not only do they make the meal taste good 😉 but they are essential in the absorption of some vitamins and again, slows down digestion to ensure you feel full for longer.

Where is the sun and all the good it offers?  If you live in Canada, you are likely not getting the vitamin D you need.  We hibernate more and don't expose our skin to the sunshine for at least 20 min. Day. And what research shows, is that low vitamin D can be linked to things like cancer, MS, depression and other scary disease states.  This is a favourite at the clinic because it is in liquid form and so easily assimilated by spraying under tongue.  It also tastes good. This is us💕...if you saw on my stories last night, Capri and I were making her favorite oatmeal raisin cookies.🍪
There are not enough words to describe how much Capri loves to help in the kitchen, and I love it just as much. (However I need to dial up the patience, lol)!
But baking with a toddler can yield the most “interesting” experience...here’s a recap of last nights baking shenanigans:
•as I was adding ingredients, she was scooping them out of the bowl
•she dropped my favorite spoon (in this picture), onto the granite then fell to floor and broke. •she dumped a huge amount of cinnamon into the bowl (the cookies are spicy as she calls them)
•she then was stirring everything so quickly that most the dry ingredients ended up on counter. Lol.! •end result— a mess, lots of laughs, and me just surrendering to the less than perfect cookie. Buy the joy in her giggle and on her face made it all worth while.

When they turn out, these cookies are so yummy, and nutritious!

Capri’s Oatmeal Raisin Cookie
Ingredients
1 tbsp ground flax seed
1 cup oat flour
1 cup rolled oats
2 tsp cinammon
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt

Wet ingredients
1/4 cup almond butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup coconut sugar
1 tbsp apple sauce
1 tsp vanilla

Directions
1. Mix 1 tbsp ground flax with 3 tbsp water. Let gel for 5 min.
2. Mix dry ingredients in large bowl 
3. Mix wet ingredients in separate bowl- add flax egg.
4. Add wet to dry. Add 1/2 raisins (or chocolate chips)
5. Form into balls and flatten with fork. 
6. Bake at 350 for 12-14 min.

Enjoy!!

Skinny does NOT equal healthy. Big muscles don’t equal health. CrossFit doesn’t equal health. Paleo, vegan, keto, vegetarian, primal, Whole 30, etc do not equal health. 
I’m not saying these things👆🏼aren’t beneficial, I’m saying that just because someone chooses one or more of these things doesn’t make them “healthy”. My own evolution of health included a time where my diet and lifestyle “on paper” looked about as perfect as a healthy lifestyle could, and that was when I was the sickest. And I’ve worked with so many people that thought their choices were part of a healthy lifestyle but their body was telling them the complete opposite. 
There is no one way, what works for one might not work for another. Science “proves” just about everything “works”. And what “works” today might not work tomorrow. 
I think our energy is always better used to connect intimately to our bodies, our own intuition, to find our own balance, be mindful and intentional about the environments we’re in, the people we surround ourselves with and live fully present in every moment. 💖

RED THAI NOODLE SOUP 
This is one of my favourite, easy, post-work "I-don't-feel-like-cooking" dinners.  It only takes 10-15 minutes to prepare and cook, and is healthy, comforting and so delicious! 
I usually mix it up a bit -  sometimes I add noodles, sometimes prawns, sometimes one of the other and sometimes neither! You could also add chicken as well if you like 🐓 Although I don't as I'm not a big meat eater. 
Ingredients:
🍲1 pack of stir fry veg (or you can chop up your own veg as well! My favourite is the Asda Waterchesnut and Bamboo Shoot stir fry mix)
🍲1 tin of coconut milk (please make sure you get one that doesn't have loads of additives and preservatives in the ingredients list! The higher the coconut content the better)
🍲1 handful of prawns
🍲1 handful of dry noodles
🍲300ml water
🍲1.5 tbsp fish sauce
🍲1.5tbsp red thai curry paste (you can add a little more or less depending on how hot you want it!)
🍲1.5 tbsp lime juice (a fresh lime is better, but lime concentrate will do otherwise) 
Prepare:
🍜Lightly cook the veg and prawns for a few minutes in a little coconut oil. 🍜Add the coconut water, water, noodles, fish sauce, lime juice, red thai curry paste, and stir. 🍜Leave to simmer for around 7-10 minutes to let the flavour infuse.
🍜And serve :) This meal is gluten free and dairy free!

It's Breakfast time! 🙌 What a great way to start off your Pre-Thanksgiving day. Pumpkin Pie Oats.. 30 min to make.💋🍂🍁 Ingredients
MAPLE CINNAMON PECANS
•	1/2 cup pecans
•	2 tsp coconut oil, melted
•	1 Tbsp coconut sugar
•	1 Tbsp maple syrup
•	Healthy pinch each salt + ground cinnamon
PUMPKIN OATS
•	2 cups water (sub up to 1 1/2 cups with unsweetened almond milk for creamier oats)
•	Pinch sea salt
•	1 cup steel cut oats* •	1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, plus more to taste •	1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice •	2-3 Tbsp maple syrup (or sub coconut sugar), plus more to taste
•	1/4 cup pumpkin butter, plus more to taste + for topping  Instructions

1	Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and arrange pecans on a foil-lined baking sheet.

2	In the meantime, start your oats by bringing water or almond milk to a boil in a small saucepan.

3	Once boiling, add a pinch of salt, then add oats. Swirl to coat, then turn heat to low and cover. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the oats are tender.

4	In the meantime, add pecans to preheated oven and toast for 5 minutes.

5	While they’re baking, add melted coconut oil, coconut sugar, maple syrup, salt and cinnamon to a small mixing bowl and whisk vigorously to combine.

6	Remove pecans from oven and add directly to the oil-spice mixture. Toss to coat, then add back to baking sheet. Bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until deep golden brown and fragrant. Remove from oven and set aside to cool.

7	Once oats are finished cooking, remove from heat and add cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, maple syrup (or coconut sugar), and pumpkin butter. Stir to combine, then taste and adjust seasonings as needed. 
8	Divide oats between serving bowls and top with coconut whipped cream.
It's Breakfast time! 🙌 What a great way to start off your Pre-Thanksgiving day. Pumpkin Pie Oats.. 30 min to make.💋🍂🍁 Ingredients MAPLE CINNAMON PECANS • 1/2 cup pecans • 2 tsp coconut oil, melted • 1 Tbsp coconut sugar • 1 Tbsp maple syrup • Healthy pinch each salt + ground cinnamon PUMPKIN OATS • 2 cups water (sub up to 1 1/2 cups with unsweetened almond milk for creamier oats) • Pinch sea salt • 1 cup steel cut oats* • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, plus more to taste • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice • 2-3 Tbsp maple syrup (or sub coconut sugar), plus more to taste • 1/4 cup pumpkin butter, plus more to taste + for topping Instructions 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and arrange pecans on a foil-lined baking sheet. 2 In the meantime, start your oats by bringing water or almond milk to a boil in a small saucepan. 3 Once boiling, add a pinch of salt, then add oats. Swirl to coat, then turn heat to low and cover. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the oats are tender. 4 In the meantime, add pecans to preheated oven and toast for 5 minutes. 5 While they’re baking, add melted coconut oil, coconut sugar, maple syrup, salt and cinnamon to a small mixing bowl and whisk vigorously to combine. 6 Remove pecans from oven and add directly to the oil-spice mixture. Toss to coat, then add back to baking sheet. Bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until deep golden brown and fragrant. Remove from oven and set aside to cool. 7 Once oats are finished cooking, remove from heat and add cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, maple syrup (or coconut sugar), and pumpkin butter. Stir to combine, then taste and adjust seasonings as needed. 8 Divide oats between serving bowls and top with coconut whipped cream.

Not sure who said it, but this quote resonates with me now more than ever. After a pretty successful seven year career as a graphic designer, I've quit my job to pursue a more fulfilling purpose. After years of frustration, self-doubt, fear and existential angst, it feels good to finally be here. I'm on my way to becoming a naturopath and nutritional therapist, because I've always known that the way to true health and happiness lies with nature. Many of today’s ailments are a result of a lifestyle disconnected from nature. The healing power of plants can transform our bodies and minds so we can enjoy life the way it's meant to be lived. I can't wait to share my knowledge with others on this journey to wellness. 🙏💕🌱🥑✨
