This is a fluorescent tube installation by Dan Flavin, the American minimalist artist. Spotted at the MoMA a few years ago. It was the same visit where I saw the Timor calendar (check the recent blog posts for more info).
On another note, @hygge_for_home came up with #behindmyinsta recently, where people share a bit of background about them. My story is not exciting. I have a 9-5 vocational job in Cardiff, and Boreal Abode is my creative outlet. Design has always been one of my passions, from graphic and web design to architecture. In the future, I'd love to study for an interior design qualification. It's gonna be hard work, but I'm so glad this community (both blogging and social media) is extremely supportive. Thank you! 🙌
What about you? Share your story using the tag #behindmyinsta . I'd love to know more about you 😊
Thank you for the #widn tag @mrshomesweethome glad you've got some of that zoflora!
I'm just getting my clean on downstairs at the moment whilst waiting for hubby to get home from work. Tonight's weapons of choice.... fruity smells for the kitchen and winter spice for my curtains and fabrics 😍😍 What are @ahouse_ourhome @bradwillshome @sandrasmith06 up to this evening?
⛵️🔵 Downstairs loo 🔵⛵️ Our downstairs toilet makeover is nearly complete... new flooring, painted the walls, new toilet, new sink and new shelf. All that's left now is to choose some little tiles to go around the sink 😊 (before pic from rightmove)
This stunning apartment is located in the Quartermile development in Edinburgh. I had the chance to stay here some time ago. Everything is finished to a high standard. Let's just say that those sliding doors are more expensive than the deposit of my house... 😱
And the view! It's south-facing and overlooking a beautiful park. I grew up in an apartment and the concept of house-living still feels weird. What do you prefer? Would you exchange your house for a property like this? 🏠🔄🏢
(I forgot to mention that the architects were Foster+Partners!)

Just look at it. The lovely Panton chair manufactured by @vitra. This is the re-edition in blue matte colour. I wrote a little bit about it in the "Coastal mid-century office" mood board post.
Would you be interested in a dedicated post with the usual insights into the history of the design? Just a thought 😊

This is my parent's bedroom. As it is: no additional styling, tidying up or preparation. I stopped for a second and realised how good it is. Rocking that peach/coral colour on walls and bedding, with black furniture and minimal ornaments. If you zoom in you may see me on that bedside table photograph 😀 I'm also using this image for #colourmyhome as this week's theme is textiles!
What's your parent's home decor style like? Has it influenced your own?
This is what your posy table arrangement could look like if you follow the steps on my how-to guide (check recent posts on the blog). The key is to get fresh flowers from your local florist. And not "reduced" ones from the supermarket (guilty here). My posy lasted for a week, but I'm definitely going to get more @oasisfloraluk foam to do it again🌺🌸🌺
New post on the blog ✨ I talk about the object that started my passion for mid-century modern design, the Timor desk calendar by Enzo Mari. Simple form and functional design. Visit the link on my profile to find out more about this little midcentury gem (and where to get it from).
Today's style tip is by florist Tracy Bell from @flower_lodge. It's all about letting go perfection for a more natural look. Check the latest post on the blog to discover more expert flower design tips and tricks 🌸
Now, a question for you. Where do you buy flowers from? 🌷
Here it is. A classic mid-century modern coffee table. Looked for it on every single website/store just to find a vintage one down the road... in a charity shop! Still can't believe I paid £20 for it. It's 10 times more expensive online. What's your favourite "bargain find"?
Rose Velvet & Oud ~ East meets west in this combination of rich exotic Oud and English Rose 🌹 Experience the discreet aroma of Rose in bloom combined with a heady, woody undertone. Classical, with a touch of the mysterious, this fragrance is uniquely decadent and comforting.

I'm chilling watching rubbish tv and just remembered that our new sofa should be coming this week! 🛋✨
Would @maison_thomas @livingatnumberten @ournumber11 @ourfirsthome_number17 @thebhome @ourhomeatno.14 like to play if you have time? • •
Here's a pic I took of my kitchen table on the weekend, getting prepped for lunch. I've just ordered a new camera lens (finally) so can't wait to start taking shots that are not so bloody cropped!
