Newsletter subscriber and long-time follower, Hunter (@pruetang), sent us this picture, which, on the surface, appears very unassuming. However, the story behind it is nothing short of incredible. Recently, a house in Virginia Beach went up in flames, leaving nothing but smoke and ash behind. You can see the charred ceiling and chipped paint on the floor, with almost every surface covered in black soot. Nearly everything was torched – except for the resilient American Flag, which remained untouched, resting gently on the fireplace. If you zoom in you can see where the pole was scorched and dented, however, the flames somehow never touched the red, white, and blue. When he first saw it Hunter said it was “amazing”. We’ll leave it to you to read into any deeper meaning, but it struck us as both telling and symbolic. We would like to thank Hunter for sharing, and extend our gratitude to everyone who follows our brand on Instagram, Facebook, and e-mail. Today's #walkinthewoods was a truly humbling visit to Victory Woods and the Saratoga Monument, where 240 years ago this week, this happened... "You are standing upon land that witnessed a momentous event - an outcome considered unimaginable at the time. What happened here forever altered human history.
In early October 1777, during the American Revolution, 6,000 British soldiers retreated here after devastating defeats in the Battles of Saratoga fought eight miles to the south. Surrounded, battered, and besieged by the American army, the forces of the Crown all surrendered on October 17, 1777.
An army of amateurs had defeated a world power. The victory at Saratoga spurred international aid to help the United States win its independence, which spread the ideal of freedom throughout the world." #freedom#mybackyard#usa#homeofthefree#becauseofthebrave#walkamileintheirboots#fridayfacts#optoutside#iloveny#dogsthathike#goruck#gr1#gsd#saratoganhp
Saw this guys homemade artwork on his Saints logo this morning. This guy probably stands up for the National Anthem. We live in the greatest country in the world. Our anthem represents our country and the freedom we receive because of those who fought for us. If you want to protest something in our country there are other means to do so. But when that anthem plays, stand up and be thankful you are an American and you have a voice to express your opinion. In other countries people don’t get to do that. #ggb#america#nationalanthem#godblessamerica#nfl#homeofthefree#standup
Fourteen rapidly moving wildfires have consumed 57,000 acres and forced 20,000 people to evacuate their homes in California, authorities said Monday afternoon. The fires have destroyed more than 1,500 homes and commercial buildings. The biggest fires are burning in the Napa wine country. This picture was taken by Brooke Nicole at Disneyland while fires raged in the Anaheim Hills. Sending thoughts and prayers to California 🇺🇸: Brooke Nicole
