I’m super impressed with their #papermache planets 💕 one of my most favorite memories from public school kindergarten was a paper mache art project ...because of the limited time for art class in public school the project took about two weeks for us to finish 😳 but behold another perk of homeschool 🤗this was about a three day project for us and this is NOT one of those “Mom does the entire project for their kid” 🙄...we went at our own pace and it involved messes, sensory exploration, creativity, art 🎨 and learning 💕 they picked the planet they wanted to create and we used the pictures from #thegoodandthebeautiful space science unit for them to use as inspiration 💡 they told me colors they saw in the picture of the planet and I gave them a paint pallet 🎨 with those colors some paint brushes and they began to create 🤗 I’m constantly amazed at what a kindergartener and pre-schooler are capable of and By the end my son was telling my daughter “it’s okay to get messy” 🙈 if you read my Last post then you know how BIG of a deal it is for him to say that. PS I’m super happy today is our fun and flexible Friday. We have some chores to catch up on around the house and so we did our morning routine (song, prayer, scripture, pledge) and then finished up their planets 😍 and now time to catch up on some to-dos 🤗 and I’m sure it won’t be long before they are asking me for “more homeschool” 💕 what are you up to on this freezing cold Friday?? 😀❄️
For the last 5 days, our kids have seen a drastic change in my and Matt’s routine. We are eating healthier meals frequently throughout the day. We are waking up earlier to get our workouts in, which has been great! And that’s coming from someone who is not a morning person. We are going to bed earlier so that our bodies can recover from the work we are putting it through. The best part about changing our lifestyle is that our kids have been asking for “something healthy to eat” for the last couple of days.
📣 HELP!! 📣
Izzy struggles with Math. She gets frustrated and bored. We have used a few different curriculums over the years and MUS is by far the best for her but she still dreads it. So today when I said “It’s Math time” and she looked at me with sad eyes I thought there has to be another way. So for each word problem I suggested she draw a picture first describing the problem. Then we would work on the equation together. She was much happier. My question is... does anyone have a secular math curriculum or supplement that I could use with Izzy? (She is 9yrs old) Any math book that involves creativity or art is a bonus. Any suggestions appreciated!!! Thanks so much. ...........................................................
Izzy takes an art class once a week at a local studio. She lives and breathes art. It’s her passion and makes her so happy when she’s creating in and out of class. Her homework assignment was to draw a shoe with her non-dominant hand. They had worked on non-dominant hand drawings last week in art class too. I did a little research on the benefits and reasonings behind it and it’s fascinating! So Miles and I tried to write and draw with our non-dominant hands and we had quite the laugh. It’s much harder than she makes it look! .............................................................
I got my ears pierced!!! Ok, so, I really got them done when I was 5, but a couple of years ago they got irritated and managed to close up even though I'd had them for decades. Crazy right?! This time though, I used a professional piercer vs something like piercing pagoda and those awful piercing guns.
All of the rumors are true: professional piercing hurts less. In fact, it felt like he tapped my ear. They don't even feel like new piercings now, hours later!
I'm sold. I wish I had gotten my girls' ears done this way.
Speaking of my girls...one of them got a new piercing today too. I'll share when she's ready!
Working on our #papermache planets. My kids wanted to start school a little earlier and my daughter asked to begin with art and so we did 🙌🏼 and I’m so proud of my son. I knew this was going to be a messy project and I also know that he hates being messy...BUT he did it 🙌🏼 I didn’t make a big deal out of the mess, I just reassured him it was okay to be messy and we would get him all cleaned up when we finished. Sure I could have made it less messy for easier clean up but I purposely didn’t because I wanted him to spend some time with some messy textures and get more comfortable with things like this and it was okay that paper mache ended up all over my kids and my table and my floor. We all survived it just fine and more importantly my son actually enjoyed the paper mache which is a BIG deal for him. He did wash his hands three times in the process 😬🙈 (we are working on it, he has some textures he isn’t a fan of) BUT overall it went really well. Items needed: 1) Paper mache : 1 part flour 2 parts water -mix well
2) Newspaper ...we didn’t have any 😳🤦🏼♀️so we used pages from a coloring book instead 👌🏼 and 3) balloon 🎈 blown up a little less than normal so it’s more round and planet-like. 🌏 ... ☝🏼cut paper into strips(or ripping the paper works too), ✌🏼fully coat them in paper mache mix and cover the ballon with them and ☝🏼✌🏼 let it dry and repeat. My kids are super super excited to paint these. Can’t wait to see which part of the solar system they choose to create 🤗 🌏 ☀️
Do you like Green Beans? Some of the health benefits of green beans include:
1. Reduced risk of heart disease and colon cancer.
2. An improved regulation of diabetes.
3. Green beans provide a big boost to your immune system and contributes to the elimination of harmful free radicals.
4. These nutrient-packed beans also provide benefits to the health of your eyes and bones, while regulating your digestive processes.
Green beans can be eaten fresh. Just snap or cut off each end and add to a salad or dip in your favorite hummus
Drizzle fresh green beans with olive oil, garlic and fresh cracked pepper and roast for 25 minutes, turning halfway through
Top fresh green beans with your favorite marinara sauce and sprinkle with fresh Parmesan or Romano cheese.
So, if you saw my stories yesterday, I mentioned that we found these wonderful felt play sets from target. I originally thought we’d save this dramatic play activity til February, but realized that we will need to begin crafting and mailing our Valnetine’s Day gifts SOON, due to a homeschool exchange, so why not bring it out now? We had such a fun morning discussing postmen & pretend playing! Now both G & C are very excited to create their own Valentines and mail them at the REAL post office later this month! *Note their cute writing! #ayops#ayearofplayingskillfully
Good Morning Sisters!! Our Scripture Writing Passage for today is Hebrews 2:16-18. I have posted it below. [After you complete your journaling- click like.] If you have a few extra minutes please share your takeaway from the reading [in the comments.] Here are today's verses for you to read. Love you all! ❤️ Hebrews 2:16-18 (NIV)
16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Journal questions for further study:
1. What does this passage say?

We made birdseed ornaments! The first batch was a disaster of epic proportions! Found a better recipe and it worked out! Looking forward to welcoming some of the gorgeous birds that live here in Knysna!

So it was beautiful today here in Central Florida! A few things about me:
1. I’m an avid reader! Students used to ask me about the books in my library, and I usually knew📚
2. I love music, too. I know a lot of songs, but I am terrible and getting lyrics in the right order.
3. I have lived and traveled on 5 continents.🗺
4. I taught for 20+ years and have been homeschooling for 2.
5. I cannot take selfies. Don’t ask how many times it took to get this one! 📸
6. I have 2 kids and 3 cats.
7. My husband is from Tunisia. 🇹🇷
8. I studied Spanish, German, and a little Arabic. My German is pretty rough, though, because I have no one to talk with!
9. I am originally from Pennsylvania, but have lived in Florida since 1999. 🏖
10. My gram, brother, and one sister are also teachers!
Why is detox and cleanse🌱🌿such an important part of weight loss? Well.. For most of US, the extra weight we are carrying is made up of toxic🍟🍔sludge!!! That is undigested food and toxins that's hanging out in our digestive track😳keeping the weight piled on.
A 🌿cleanse is a great way to kick off weight loss OR get over that weight-loss plateau.
BUT 🖐🏾let's put weight-loss aside, for overall health purposes you 👩🏾don't want this toxic💀💩sludge just hanging out in your body! Did you know...80% of the immune system is found in the digestive tract and all diseases begin right in the our BELLY?😳 We use GREENS as a daily detox- packed with 38 super foods🍇and then once a month we do a 2-day cleanse!!
Thanks Zig Ziglar 🙏🏼☝🏼There has never been a time in my life where this quote wasn’t relevant. When I worked in “Corporate America” I had a mentor who I greatly looked up to and one ☝🏼 of the countless things he taught me was how to apply this quote to my life. I’ve found it’s easier to avoid the pit than it is to climb out of it but that doesn’t mean I haven’t fallen in my fair share of times. One thing I do to help keep my mind fresh and motivated is listen to podcasts. @boldnewmom has a fantastic list of podcasts and I can’t recommend her enough 👌🏼💯 ...she has definitely caused some paradigm shifts to occur in my little 🧠 💡 Where my podcast mamas at?? ...What are your favorite podcasts ?? 👇🏼 Anyone else a #boldnewmom fan??? 🙋🏼♀️
Time for some organization around here!! I'm a little embarrassed/upset about how much old food I had to throw away. But it's liberating, and it's easier to get to now.
Rounded up some unused toy bins so I could group together things like snacks, baking items, chips, etc. This also will help all the small things from falling and scattering! Glass bottles always scare me on the wire shelves too. They just aren't stable.
I have 3 bags of almond flour, all open. 2 bags of open powdered sugar. 2 bags of chia seeds, of all things! Hopefully this newfangled idea of all the like things actually being together will prevent that from happening again! 😬
How do you organize your pantry?
Continued...Im still sharing a few testimonials over the next few days of women who have not only gained massive clarity on their purpose to create and their messaging but also increased their faith in Jesus!!! Let me tell you why I'm sharing this!! I was totally attacked in my Facebook group: Multi-passionate Women of faith Creating for Christ
I had a lady tell me that I was not of the Lord Jesus Christ and that all this "energy" crap is witchcraft and of the devil. She truly believed I was leading people astray.
Here was my response to her:
Please do your research before posting in my group I won't delete this lol
Here are some resources my dear. I've totally expected women like you to attack me with your judgements 😍
No I won't run, I won't hide, I won't operate in fear when I know what God has called me to. Nope!! Do a Google search - Emotional Freedom Technique for Christians
- Energy psychology for Christians
- Thought Field Therapy
Here are some leaders in my industry that you can look up too
Here's a few books: - Redeeming Energy Psychology for the Kingdom of God
- EFT for Christians
- Upper Dogs
- The Anatomy of the Soul
- The Emotion Code
- Molecules of Emotion
Read a few of these books, take a few of trainings and then get back to me 😍
Honestly I do appreciate your concern for soul's but I totally know and believe that Jesus is the way and the light.
Where does all your negativity come from? I'm curious... If you really had a heart to help or make a difference you could have come to me personally and we could have found some common ground. I'd be pleased to educate you on my beliefs.
