Stephen King’s 1922: Mini-Review:
Wilfred James (Thomas Jane), his wife, Arlette James (Molly Parker) and their son, Henry (Dylan Schmid), live a quiet, country life in the county of Hemingford Home, Nebraska. Turmoil and tension bite at Wilfred and Arlette when it’s revealed she wants to sell the plot of land they’ve been living on for years. Wilfred and Henry set out to murder Arlette in cold blood and what follows is an act of revenge from beyond the grave.
When I first read the story back in 2009 it stuck with me and instantly became one of my favorite Stephen King stories. Having seen the film I get the same feeling I did after reading the story all those years ago.
The writing, acting, & cinematography, all take center stage here and do an excellent job of bringing King’s work to reality.
1922 is an excellent tale of murder and revenge and I highly recommend you see this film.
Gerald’s Game and 1922 are definite masterpieces in their own right and I hope Netflix continues this trend of adapting Stephen King’s work. Amazing stuff.
