My running circuit...5k run, run for two miles, Hill repeats .5mile, alternating side slide .25 mile, walking lunge .25mile, bear crawl .1mile, some floor abwork with bubba stretch and done! I’m fat adapting my for endurance and hiit and MAF heart rate training as well. The emerging science on fat adaptation and training is really interesting so I must give it a go! So far so good! #youruntheday#adventuretraining#humanguineapig#humanpowered
Throwing it back to one of the sloggiest and finest powder days with some of the best, @stickysdate and @shredermax. And by sloggy, I mean trailbreaking-up-Begbie-Shoulder kind of sloggy. Punching your way up 1,400 vertical metres, through a bunch of new snow, takes a bit of time. But then it’s all yours, untouched, for the way down! 🤘🏻🎿
To my husbands dismay, my acquisition of books had not faltered despite the diminshing shelf space. But it keeps bringing me closer to my dream of a personal floor to ceiling library! With all of my one-armed down time I've been able to dedicate more time to reading. Rather than hoard the magnificent words to myself, I'll start sharing them as I finish.
This novel was filled with true accounts of the authors cautionary mountain tales. Simpson beautifully describes a mountaineers physical and mental battle that continually draw us to the sport despite the lurking deaths. I loved every page.
And that ends our 11 day tour of Graham Island in Haida Gwaii. We started with an overnight push from Skidegate to Masset (for cheeseburgers), then unsupported from Masset back to Charlotte via the North and East Beaches, with a few days camped on Rose Spit. I don't usually throw the word around but it was definitely a no-holds barred adventure.
The wilderness and wildlife. Four days of waves, two being top class. River crossings and the variable conditions of beach riding. Being pinned down for two nights at Cape Ball in hurricane force winds. Standing at the tip of Rose Point as the light broke through the squalls. Picturesque camp sites, sunrises, sunsets and storms.
Deepest respect and admiration for @joelhibbard aka @nahanniwild, my partner in many a questionable venture and the co-dreamer of this trip for over a year now. Joel's knowledge, skills and instinct are unmatched in the backcountry and he was a rock front to back.
Many thanks to Derek at @ltp_sports for making our crazy idea a reality. Gearing us up with the right machines from @norcobicycles and kit from @endurapparel @topeak and @ixssports made this trip happen.
I'm super happy with our preparation and planning. Everything is soaked, dirty and sandy but it worked when it had to. And the rigs never failed. @norcobicycles and @burleydesign make some quality product.
I'm fully cracked and ready to go home to bed and @bronathon. At the risk of sounding dramatic, the transcendent beauty of Haida Gwaii showed itself around every corner this trip. I'm humbled and grateful. This was an experience i'll never forget, and I already can't wait to come back.
Oh and we took and lot of photos and video along the way! Very stoked to sort through and share via our personal accounts and the trip sponsors in the coming weeks #bikepacking#adventurebybike#landrafting#thehardway#gohaidagwaii#humanpowered#slowisfast#explorebc
As the rainy monsoon days have started here in the Pacific NorthWET, the larch needles continue to fall, and the snow dumps in the mountains. Meanwhile, I’m throwing it back to a warm sunny day on Bow lake in Alberta from earlier this summer. Even though I’m SO excited for ski season in the mountains, I know I’ll be missing days like these in the coming weeks while working in the dreary city!! P.s this lady is a total hiking, backpacking, climbing, and paddling badass! @wherekaitswent 💃💪❤️
Want to experience backcountry yurt life? After getting asked the question “Do I rent out my yurt” almost every day, I have decided to give it a try this winter. Check out the listing on #Airbnb ! Link in my bio 🤙 #yurtlife#colorado#backcountry
Four months into recovery with five more to go. Today marks the start of my road biking season. I don't really bike, but I'll take it. Hopefully I'll be back on steep overhangs in four more months. #rehabordietryin#50centwuzapoet
When I hit the Minnesota boarder driving home and burst into tears it wasn’t just because I didn’t want to go home to the monotony of work and schedules and stress waiting for me it was because I had to leave my cousin-sister hybrid @meejlahan. This little ball of light and laughter shared the North Shore with me and I’m eternally grateful ❤️
The reason I went to the US in the first place, the World Human Powered Speed Challenge where we competed with our own bike and won with 121,52kph! First shots of @irisslappendel second shots of @travelwriternl
Listening to a handful of female entrepreneurs tonight was amazing. Hearing their fears, successes and failures made me realize that everyone has that inner demon whispering doubts in their ears. I've come to learn that success isnt measured by how far you get, rather it is having the strength to push back against those demons and give it a solid try. Thank you for putting on such an inspirational event @altitudeseven! Picture taken by my most loving @jsargent.356
Our guide, Alex, is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Alex is originally from Boise, Idaho. He spends his free time highlining and writes his own music. Here is Alex on-top of the Monkey Face.
When fall comes, kicking summer out as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you. -Stephen King
On the plane headed for Europe but already missing my fur babes and wishing I could take them with me. It’s all good though b/c Brad and I could use some alone time to adventure together and I know there will plenty of fun on the mountains with them when I return. 💙
