Revention Music Center is up and running but some of our neighbors are less fortunate. Join us on Wednesday, September 27th for Houston Strong: A Theater District Benefit Honoring Local Heroes at @MillerOutdoor Theatre! ⛑
The evening will include free performances by seven of the Theater District’s resident companies: Alley Theatre, Da Camera of Houston, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, Society for the Performing Arts and Theatre Under The Stars.
Donations to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund will be accepted on-site during the event, online at www.ghcf.org or by texting HARVEY2017 to 91999. 📱 Contributions are tax-deductible and will go toward relief for victims affected by the recent floods.
It’s peak Atlantic hurricane season right now, and it’s been a rather terrifying one by all accounts. Hurricane Harvey stalled over Houston and dumped so much water that Earth’s crust warped. Hurricane Irma devastated the Caribbean and left millions of Floridians without power. Hurricane Jose may have avoided hitting the east coast but now Hurricane Maria’s coming, and it’s not messing about.
Easily the most remarkable thing about Maria is that it went from being a Category One hurricane to a Category Five in just a single day. Although it was briefly downgraded to a Category Four, meteorologists have since upgraded it again to a Category Five, and have pointed out that it isn’t showing any signs of weakening. It’s following the same warm water track as Irma, which suggests two things: it’ll remain strong over time, and it will hit US territory.

Every month we have a Splurge, a exclusive product that only comes in limited quantiles and is only available while supplies last.
Our Splurge this month is the Poppy Love chunk.... and it is a very special splurge.
The scent from this chunk is made in a warehouse in Houston Texas. This warehouse was hit hard by the hurricane. The workers, being so dedicated to Posh, went into their flooded warehouse, got our scent ready, and the owner drove his personal vehicle on the only open road out of town for miles until he found an open FedEx facility that could get the scent where it needed to go so we could have our Splurge this month.
Posh decided to give back, again, to the hurricane relief. Posh has already donated truckloads of product and $55,000 to hurricane relief. And they are going to give us another chance to give back using this chunk.
For every Poppy Love chunk purchases: Posh will donate a chunk to areas affected by hurricane affected areas. You will also get $1 back to use on a future chunk purchase.
Being able to feel clean is something we all too often take for granted... a simple bar of soap can make a huge difference for these hurricane victims.
PLEASE consider purchasing one of these chunks. They are only $9, and you would be giving to a great cause.

CHARITY OF THE MONTH
Cleanup continues. Homes are being rebuilt. But one of theses shirts and 100% of the proceeds goes to relief efforts. Makes a great gift!
One of my high school friends lost everything. My college roommate's parents lost everything. This is an easy way to give a little back to people like them. #hurricaneharvey#giveback#clothingwithacause#thehumblethread#thehumblebetties
When I first rolled into #houston , I was shocked by how much debris was still everywhere. Once the drama from the media has lifted, we forget so quickly. There's still PLENTY of work to be done. Things are functional, but chaotic. I drove down to photograph @maddogrescue and @austinpetsalive teaming up to rescue dogs being held in a makeshift shelter. I'll be releasing images of the story through the next few days. If you're following along please note: MAd Dog and the APA still need volunteers for #Hurricane#Harvey initiatives!
