Made a guest appearance in a notorious @tiafitpro challenge! The workout was:
•5x5 back squats at body weight (175#)
•5x5 deadlifts at body weight •5x8 pistol squats
•5x5 Hip Thrust @ 225#
•5x8 overhead squats to work on mobility
My current squat program has me at 12x2 box squats at 305# so I went ahead a threw those in a well. I may be sore the next few days.
2017 I was focused on getting my pro-card and bettering myself as an individual. 2018 I’m going back to school and focusing a little less on fitness and setting some long term goals. But doesn’t mean for a second I’m slowing down cause 2019 I’m coming for you! 💪 #believethat
I live for the gym; love the lifestyle, meal prep every single day, and thrive on the goal of one day earning my pro card. But it is at this point in my life, creating the best future for my children is the ultimate goal I could ever hope to achieve. It’s going to take more work than I’ve ever put forth on anything other than my competition prep. The next 5 years will be spent working towards my PhD in Physical Therapy. The life I once lived so recently doesn’t have the same place in my priorities anymore. This is not to say I’m giving up the lifestyle entirely; I still need the gym to relieve the ridiculous metal stress I am to endure, and meal prep is the only way I’ve grown accustomed to eating every day. What I’m saying is competition and my pro card will have to wait till I know my family is taken care of. I would give anything for my children; that includes my own desires. There is no room for selfishness when you love your babies as much as I do mine. This hiatus is not forever, and “Lucho Physique” will be back; that, I promise. Just taking a break to focus on what matters most. Thank you all for your continued love and support on this road that is anything but finished 🙏🏽💪🏽🏆 To Be Continued....

“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.” - Simon Sinek
It may seem like a trivial aspect of getting in shape, but WHY you’re doing it is arguably just as important as the technical aspects.
Often times, we don’t fully understand the motivations behind what we do. For simplicity, lets break down motivations into two main categories: External, and internal.
External is the sexy stuff. The looks you’ll get walking down the beach shredded, what everyone will think when you step on stage and get a top 3 placing, how big your arms are, how many likes your shirtless selfies get, etc. Aside from being external, one of the commonalities between all of these things is they are inherently satisfying to your ego.
Internal is the less sexy stuff. It’s based upon your guiding principles and values. It means getting in shape because you value your health, and recognize it to be important if you want to live a fulfilling life. It means valuing things like discipline, persistence, resilience, introspection, education, etc. for their own sake.
In short; if your motivations are primarily external- you are not going to last. It could take a week, a month, or a year, but at some point you will burn out and feel helpless to recover. The moment you realize people don’t really give a shit about how good you look or how strong you are, and that it says next to nothing about your value as a human being, the entire foundation upon which your journey has been created will shatter. Rather than feeling pulled by your goals, you will feel like you’re constantly having to push yourself.
On the other hand, if you are internally motivated, you will thrive in tough times because your foundation is strong. You will mess up, but you will learn and get better, because the process is inherently important to you. You see the validation of others as trivial. This is the position you want to be in for long term success and sustainability. .

Cooking up some grass fed red meat. For those that don’t know this is the most anabolic food you can possibly eat! The CLA’s in this are the most potent and absorbable out of anything and drastically more than the CLA pills themselves. Real food always wins people. I eat a half a pound of this with no carbs right before bed every night. The perfect time for recovery and the fats slowing down the protein synthesis allow me to stay anabolic instead of going catabolic while I sleep🍴 eat up people and let’s put some muscle on. None of us are big enough yet and can always improve. One tiny detail at a time
