This is: A partly sunny ☀️ Moo Cow Monday! 🐮 ❤️ The sun has made an appearance here in Amsterdam today so in honor of its return here's a snap of our little happy pup soaking up some rays in Dordrecht (yet another adorable Dutch town that we explored on the weekend by 🚂 ). Moo's showing us the picturesque city hall, with the canal flowing under the neighboring buildings behind her and simultaneously wishing you the perfect amount of ☀️ wherever you are.
This is: well, wait?! Where are we? Victorian mansion, weeping willows... New Orleans? Nope! This is Nieuwersluis, a little village (if you can call a collection of mansions spread out along a river a "village") between Loenen aan de Vecht and Breukelen, South of Amsterdam. What a picturesque place to go for a 🚴. We even got a bag of home grown 🍎 from a stand on the side of the road for €2 right near here 👍Don't you wonder who lives here 🤔?
This is: stopping to smell the 🌹 in one of the Netherland's mooiste dorptjes (cutest towns). After our 27km 🚴, a relaxing golden hour walk around the village was just what we needed. Not only is it cute but it's also old; people have lived in this area since the Iron Age! It's an absolutely lovely place to cycle to from Amsterdam, if you have the stamina 😊
This is: our little furry traveller🐶. This little Moo pup is such a good sport! She allows us to drag her to different towns (countries and even continents) on 🚴 ✈️ 🚂 🚗 and doesn't complain. She's always interested in the new smells and has adapted to taking naps on mommies' laps. She makes exploring new places even more fun! And having her company means we frequently get to meet locals and new friends who are warmed up with her adorable cow presence. 😁Here Moo is pictured showing us around Delft, one of her favorite recently visited town in her new home of the Netherlands. #moocowmonday
This is: Dutch countryside 😍. Can you spot the ✈️ and the 🐄? On the way from Amsterdam to Haarlem, you cycle past so many of these quaint cow pastures but this view made us stop for some snaps. Today the ☀️ has left Holland but at least we still have the tan lines And photos to prove it!
This is: pure summer joy! Cycling in the Netherlands can't be beat, especially on a ☀️ day. Flat, paved tracks connect all the little towns and if you go too far (like we did this weekend 😳) you can just hop on a 🚂 at the next station! You don't even need a good bike; we did 30k on our rusty city bikes 🚴 . If you need tips on cycling in the Netherlands, hit us up!
This is: #moocowmonday ! Another weekend, another long 🚴 ride, this time all the way from Amsterdam to Haarlem. We stopped for a few minutes for Moo to stretch her legs and enjoy the water views just outside Spaarndam. Such a gorgeous ☀️day! We hope summer stays around just a bit longer 🙌 #pleasedontgo
This is: a gorgeous end to a fantastic weekend! 🌅We had a visit from friends we love, then got a bit carried away on our bike ride 🚴🏻♀️around Amsterdam today and ended up riding 30k (in a roundabout way) to Haarlem with stops for picking wild blackberries, admiring cows, and hanging out in parks! [More of that in our stories]. Naturally we treated ourselves to dinner (and Moo to a treat) after our long day of exercise in the blazing hot 🌞And before heading back by 🚂 got to enjoy this view 😍Feeling lucky and fulfilled. 😊
This is: #tbt to 🚴 along canals coming back to Amsterdam from Broek in Waterland. Can you imagine anything more peaceful?? The countryside out there is postcard perfect, especially on a ☀️ day. Even with rusty city bikes, the 20 mile round trip was a breeze on flat, well maintained bike trails. A perfect way to spend a weekend in Amsterdam!
This is: The medieval Grote Kerk in Dordrecht. Do you see the tiny person and 🐶 in front? People think there's been a church here from before the 11th century, but the one you see today was mostly built in the 1400's. The tower, not visible here, is unfinished due to a serious leaning à la the Leaning Tower of Pisa. In such small towns, it's always surprising to see they had such large churches! Truly a testament to the architectural abilities of humans.
